Looks like the Borg left off where he finished last season, atop the conference standings, Jellybellies are having a great start to the season and look to be giving the borg a run against his superpower team. New to the conference TRX Racers, American misfits, Burnaby, and Crystal City are hanging in there but will need to win some of those big games if they want to compete. Good luck to all the rest of the way.

I'm not so sure. Mr iwopp's Jellybellies look to be on some great league form this season. I also wouldn't write off any of the chasing pack. Going to be a great battle for the TCL places for next season by the looks of it.

Been the best in conference 8 this season by a country mile Iwopp.
Hard to believe I was leading it at the half way mark when you look at the table. Worst pyramid league season I've ever had on sundayleague.

Ok, sounds good, i am going to have to step it up for you guys, i have been dissapointed with my results up to this point. If the Borg doesn't get back to us soon also you should take the captains position Iwopp, after all you did take the division last season :) Also we should come up with a team name soon. any ideas?

TRX could've played a major factor this season. I find it frustrating that his neglectfulness of Ryans old team means he's turned out against some ie. The Borg 0-0. while other teams have battered him due to being AWOL. Pathetic.

True, this sort of thing does my head in also. Had the same problem years ago on Benny server. Guy would log in esp to play against me, and kick the shit out of my guys at the same time >:(

top three all lost last night and replaced by a new top 3. It's tough in here!! The jellybellies seem to have the indian sign over me the last few games we've played, not just in the league. tactics seem right but can't score when i have advantage ::)

Ya im agreeing with you on this one, this is going to be a battle all year to hit top 6, and i dont think its just you cause there arent too many teams beating the bellies right now at all! they are winning everything ;D

Hey guys, i'm no pro at these write ups but i think i'll give it a go at the halfway point of the season.
Not much of a surprise but considering the form of the Borg and jellybellies, Shauns American Misfits are playing some unreal football at the moment claiming 1st place at the halfway point. A strong 4 point lead over the bellies has him aiming to captain the UCB next season! Jellybellies are having a nice run themselves but aren't used to taking this many losses of late and will hope to regain the championship he deserved last season. As always The Borg are not far from the top and if i were the Misfits or the Bellies i'd be looking over my shoulder on a regular basis.
We have a 3 way tie for 4th place which has been a tight battle all season with Burnaby, Realale, And the Valleys Commandos who are playing for pride more than anything the remainder of the season. with 26 points for each and 14 points behind the leaders it may be out of reach to claim a title barring an amazing turn of events.
The middle of the pack has Crystal City holding 12th position however it seems a rebuild is taking place and may be a couple seasons before they regain their strong finish from last season.
Last but not least Bored FC are struggling to avoid relegation and are finding 8-1-1 a very tough conference, they are a strong team and i wouldn't be surprised to see them regian their form next season and make their way back to the top div.
Congratulations to our Conference on a UCB title last season and good luck to our Boys this season, lets see the title remain in conference 8!!
Enjoy the final 15 games and expect lots of shuffling throughout the remaining games, can the Misfits hold on or will the Bellies or Borg claim the throne??

What a close finish, and no help from me in the last 3 games, good job all around to our Ucb team however as we all finished with strong records! Nice win by the Misfits on the final game to solidify our trophy :) looking forward to the start of next season for our division, looks like angel rrs are on their game coming back to 8-1-1 so watch out for them. I have to replace my star wing this season which is sad but I'm building a strong younger team for the future so I can beat the Borg and the bellies one day ;) maybe in a few seasons I'll get to play in the champions league once again... Maybe I'm dreaming...

Northstar is looking sharp so far but I believe he may have got nailed on some points from the rollback, seems your young guys are improving but if that's the case I feel for you as every point is valuable in this conference. What went down with you div games? I only remember seeing you at the top of the standings before this debacle.

hi canuck, just unlucky with the rollback as far as league games went. Beat the orientals twice and then drew 1-1 in the third encounter. The borg had lost some ground but the rollback has given him a wee bonus of 2pts, lliike he needs it ::) ;)

It sucks to hear you won't participate in the UCB this year Borg as you are one of the best squads in the game, but if you can't be convinced to captain our team who is next up? I can't remember who finished second last year, I believe it was Larry from the misfits but maybe iwopp? Either way can you two manage a UCB team for us as we need to put up a good fight as reigning champs. It's going to be a tough go against conf 2 and personally conf 6 this year looks stellar. Leta get some feedback on out lineup.

Sorry bout that Northstar ;) Im just trying to scrape together a decent finish as i was awol working for about 3 games in the early season and got spanked. As for my game against the Misfits there is no way i should have won it based on our tactics, i dont think i had a TA all game but the ref screwed Shaun, 2 red cards for nothing in the early stages of the game >:( i would have been a bit pissed if i lost like that. fortunatly for Shaun the Bellies won a tight one vs the Borg to keep his top ranked spot. My goal now is to somehow slide past the Commandos and Realale and get into that last TCL spot.

Man, Why cant the season be only 4 games long, i always seem to end up number 1 at the beginning but then i have to play the borg and the misfits and realale and JB... While we are on the topic thats the team i think should be in the UCB also. i had a prety poor outing this year and Northstar has been playing well. I also know how talkative you guys are so there is my suggestion ;)

Thanks Martin, not a big difference between our tactics aside from the mid game, i got a bit lucky to get a win out of it, could have easily been a tie. It will be interesting to see a full season out of you next one, i could see the top 5 or 6 being quite close. Sorry Northstar, I kinda scooped second out from under ya. The orientals have played quite well this season and have thrown out a few upsets here and there. Great seasons for us both however and I'm sure we will be contenders again next season.

I didn't want to respond to how close our fight for second was because eveytime i chat about it i seem to curse myself! It seemed to work for me lol. Great battle down the stretch though, you sure didnt give up anything martin! Tough finish for Realale this year though as it was looking promising for the 2nd place fixture.
Looking forward to next season and hopefully we can take a few more points from JB to make the battle for first a bit closer ;)

"C'est la vie" as they say. Probably wont beat Northstar anyhow so would not have won it. My best is third both in C2 and 8. With the bellies hot on my heels and a much better GD unless I can force a draw with Realale, that'll be my lot again! Getting ahead of myself now as Dragoon will no doubt turn me over as well now.

I agree that it sucks having to rollback the server and have results change like mine, I did however have the same advantage as the first result in regards to TA and possession and really didn't deserve a tie in the first place but as you all know the match engine is very accurate. I would much rather win the league fair and square. This might be the first time I'm on the good side of the rollbacks. The other one this month had me way up in the doubles league only to replay and finish 3rd by a bunch. Either way this season is the worst Sundayleague season I have been involved in and has pissed off a lot of managers. I hope things get better soon or more shit like this will happen and it won't be fun anymore.

Fuck the league! I had a small chance of promotion in the Smokey League (oh yeah they fucked that up in the rollback as well as second time round I got a draw and all the teams above me won! Nothing like the first time) now I can't even field a team in the correct positions at least the first time I could have played 3-5-2, now 3-4-3 with 1 wrong player.
As for your TA in the Fools game I looked, 1st time all square, this time 15 minutes in your favour, so not the same......

Your injuries situation is total BS, I have almost never seen a team in as bad shape as yours and i would be furious also. Its also BS that you played two teams recently that have played Psycho against you with refs suited for pansy. As for my TA im sure i had 15 up in the first game also but i could be wrong. As i told Mihai the other day i play a random tactics style and never do homework against any active manager, I choose tactics based on what i think will be hard for my opposition to judge and when this happens i dont remember what i played in each game unless its an easy set up. So i appologize for being up in TA if that was the case but otherwise its not me you should be pissed at.

Rebuilding this season (7 season 1's that I spent 3,900 in total on, not bad with all the SL2 joiners in the past couple of weeks) so not enough depth in midfield yet against stronger sides, hence 523. Negative I know, but almost made it to full time with you scoring in the 90th to equalize. Was going to play "if not winning" for my last change but chose "if losing", may have won if I had stuck with my first guess. ::)

Bought 7 in from the middle of last season until the end, so played this season basically with 7 newbies. I am surprised I got away with this year really. Only replaced 1 so far this season with 1 midfielder about to pop off in the next day or so and a striker early next season, then got a full season or 2 building up.....

Deca appreciate the sentiment. Actually blew C2 to Brads a year or so ago as well as having 3 chances to win C8 if you include the rollback saga (Canuck won that one, come back soon mate) but you know more about rollback heartache than most. For me the best bit is, this is my cheapest team since I first started, sure I've trained em but have won some credits along the way (I am sure the friendly league will be more spicy next season eh Globus?) and as I look at it my bunch of bargain basement muppets might have a chance next season also..... ;)

Looks less like bottling it and more like jumping before losing every game anyway.
I've already been punished for winning the title by being defeated in my first match by Pimlico (who I don't think has ever come close to beating me in the many times we have met before) so now I expect to see the computer team, having rolled-over against Realale, being taken over by a manager who knows his or her stuff, just before they are due to play me.
Yep, folks, this what hormonal female bitterness looks like in a SundayLeague context.
But I do feel better for that so onwards and upwards ;D

I´ve played in this division a couple of years ago with SL Benfica, and i will back in a few seasons. I just remember Jellybellies, Angel Rrrrs, Realale Madrid and the Clowns.

It's getting very tight at the top, with only two pts separating the top three teams!
I haven't been able to capitalise on Angels poor run in form lately, but we're both looking over our shoulder at Raealale now :-\

It's getting very interesting with only 5 games to go both at the top and near the bottom. There are some very good teams battling it out to avoid the remaining 3 relegation slots with only 5 points separating 9th and 15th! And as we've seen all those teams in the mix can pick up points against anyone else!

I'll be in 8-1-1 in the next couple of seasons (Bullworth Academy) so would be good to get this thread going again as my other team is in conf 5 which thread is also dead :(
Looking forward to the challenge of 8-1-1 it's the toughest and most stacked league in the game imo and has been since the server merge if I remember correctly.

Great to hear we have Brazillian Piggys, Mixed Martial Farts and Bullworth Academy joining 8-1-1 in a season or two and I echo iwopp's comment that it would mean some good teams having to get relegated to make space. Will be interesting to see how it plays out!
As for this season, I'm hoping to cause an upset although I wouldn't bet on me. I've been in this position before but my players seem to buckle under the pressure! It is so hard predict with 27 potential points still up for grabs and so many tough games.
Conference 8 does seem to be getting stronger every season. We now have 5 teams in FL1 and two teams in the last 4 of the Elite Cup (I've drawn Luton in the semis so we will have a team in the final!). Long may it continue.

8-1-1 is definately one of the most competitive conference's. Next season will be tough for sure, I'd be happy to finish anywhere in the top 6! Anything above 7th would be an achievement. Looking forward to the challenge already :D

8-1-2 has been competitive playing against Brazillian Piggy's and a couple of other decent teams this season. The piggies seem to have my number though as they've beat us 3 or 4 times in a row now, 1-0 each time though so hopefully I'll have my luck on the 23rd and steal the title :o

Fools United (7) vs FC Town of Luton (3)
Team Name are creeping into the mix and well played in our game last night, you deserved the win. Also a probably title decider in 8-1-2 with Brazilian Piggys taking on Mixed Martial Farts. MMF can go top with a win, anything else and Piggys will remain in the top spot.
Will be interesting to see the results and the what the tables looks like tomorrow morning. Good luck to all!

I might have done my own legs a bit by injuring 2 of Bedwell's players in our game last night... Still, just happy with the win because they are a decent side and have beaten me many times before so hoping they can do me a huge favour tonight!

Very disappointing season for myself, lowest finish for a long time. Just managed to turn it into something other than a total disaster in the last few games with a late run of victories. Nipped in to 7th after being in 9th with 2 games left. Also somehow managed to qualify for the Elite cup from 7th place ???
Enjoying the challenge as always. Looking for a top 4 finish this time around ;) Here's to another cracker of a season in conf 8. Good luck guys and gals.

Shame to see Piggys leave, looking at your team it looks pretty strong to me and definitely good enough to beat anyone else if you get the tactics right. Also, you don't have to win it on your first season, your team would be getting stronger over the next few seasons and you could use that time to get used to playing the other teams in the division. Anyway, hopefully see you back in 8-1-1 soon.

You probably know this so I'm probably stating the obvious but your purchased player will always replace your highest positioned player on the transfer market. There was know saying that even if got both players that they wouldn've both fell into their correct positions.

Bulworth look to have done some rebuilding so I'd guess this season they'll just be trying to consolidate.

My dear other half says C8 are currently solidly batting right down to 7 with 8 & 9 improving and very capable of turning in plenty of top performances over a season. Although he is still only learning the game (and seems to be getting his sports mixed) up) I suppose I should respect his views on something so it might as well be this :)

At one point over half way through the season Angel was top and i hadn't even lost a game. Which was soon sorted out as you mentioned above Martin ;)

I'm sure that my run will be coming to an end next season. A lot of re-building will be going on. Got a few additions who will be ready for the next season or two but i will be behind a few of you guys who have been re-building for the last couple. As always conference 8 is a great challenge. Any of the teams placed from 1-12 are capable of taking points and challenging for the top spots. Looking forward to the challenge next season, good luck all ;)

I fell into the trap of the manager who only logs on and changes tactics when playing teams at the top of the league. i didn't look into it closely enough last night as i was knackered from early morning callouts. Funny how that happens from time to time, not! They can manage to log on when the important games are on but get pumped by the teams who are not having a say on where the league is going. wouldn't surprise me if it were a bit of the same as what went on with Romasexuals saga... not 100% just seems a bit odd, saying no more :-X
At least i didn't get booted all over the place as is usually the normal practice with these kind of fuds :-\ something positive to take at least.

Unfortunately this game has way to many hidden teams. I think that comes down to the game being so sparse. Out of lack of interest and giving them an advantage to win. I think 1 team would do if the game was rammed cause you'd be playing different teams everyday.
Gonna open a can of worms here cause I always seem to be the elephant in the room when it comes to saying stuff. I believe 811 has a problem. It has for a long time. Proof is within the game - Player names, logging in at the same time everyday, friendlies. Time to get your investigative hats on here. I think I know who it is.......

There's definitely something weird about this division.. a lot of mid to good level teams that do well in the league but don't seem to bother with PL's at all. I haven't noticed anything pointing to anyone but then again I haven't looked into it much. I might do a wee bit digging soon but I don't expect it to lead to much regardless ::)

If we're talking about Bedwell City, i can't see anything untoward.
They actually have a very strong team, but didn't seem to set up tactics for the first half of the season.
But perhaps i'm missing something. I never take note of other team performances to be honest.
I'm sure Delboy will get to the bottom of it though!

You know what Ivor, you may be right. I have not had a chance to look into it at all. I only checked the last time i played them and a couple of other games and noticed they didn't change tactics. When i logged on this morning i noticed they had changed them and had done the same against a couple of other contenders.
At the end of the day I should of set up to counter this kind if thing as I usually do after being stung a few times over the years. I will try not to make the same mistake again ::)

Just thought I would post in the Conference 8 thread as I have been randomly placed in 8-3-4 Northwest Region further to signing up to SL1. I have spent the last 7 years on SL2 and fancied giving this game a real go. Obviously there is a long way to go, so in the meantime it would be great to get your thoughts on what this conference is like? Should I stay where I am for now and work my way up? or change to a higher up division?

I have spent the last 7 years on SL2 and fancied giving this game a real go. Obviously there is a long way to go, so in the meantime it would be great to get your thoughts on what this conference is like? Should I stay where I am for now and work my way up? or change to a higher up division?

Greetings Jimbo, Conference 8 is a tough league so you will need some time to train your team. How competitive you want to be is the question, you'll probably need a team of swc 6's at least before challenging for the title. but in all honesty you could probably stay in the division with a team of swc 1's and the right tactics. I'm sure as you've been playing SL2 it wont be too difficult to pick SL1 up :)
Either way mate theres plenty competition in the conference and I'm sure with time your team can challenge.

So, I am in the lowest division possible: 8-3-4 Northwest Region. I can see that my division is full of CPU's but won my first two games with clean sheets so feel like I am starting to get the hang of my tactics. 9 games to go, can I make the playoffs?

Couldn’t help but notice you posting on the forums. Welcome! I am Wizard (Kenny), manager of Menagerie in 7-1-1. I joined again about 4 months ago after a 6-7 year hiatus (perhaps even longer) and I am loving it all over again. Like you, I was randomly placed into a x-3-4 division with lots of computer teams. Personally, I didn’t want to wait over 10 seasons/over a year to reach the dizzy heights of 7-1-1, so I put myself into 7-1-4 to start off with. This was not just to spend a few seasons getting reacquainted again, but also so that it wouldn’t take long to get myself back up to 7-1-1 with a reasonably competitive team. I’m not doing too shabby with a team of 3 season old players.
I’m just a bit worried you might get bored down there in the lower divisions winning every game against the computer teams on an extremely long journey up to 8-1-1. Obviously, there are a great bunch of fun private leagues to take part in which will keep you entertained, but you could think about joining one of the higher divisions if you get bored/so that you get to play with that big boys sooner! Just a thought! Mind you, some people do start off in x-3-4 and work their way up. I remember when I first joined SL 15 years ago I was placed into 7-2-4 and it was a sweet feeling when I eventually reached 7-1-1.
Anyway, will be great to see you around the forums! And will no doubt meet you in the FL or one of the private leagues! 8)

It’s sounds like you have progressed well in a short space of time which is great motivation for a newbie like me. I agree with you 100% on the prospect of spending 10 seasons to get to x-1-1 being a long haul. Therefore, I will start looking at an appropriate division to join in order to be a bit closer to the top and to play less CPU’s of course ;)
One question around moving divisions. Does this affect anything if I move now or would it be better to move at the start of the new season? Is there a division you would recommend? I don’t mind where I go as I like a challenge :)
I am keen to get involved in the FL next season. Are there any other private leagues that you would suggest entering or maybe wait until I have built a reasonable squad?

Hi Jimbo and welcome.
Re: thoughts on where you start, I'd say it would depend on how you are going to build your squad and 10 season is a long (and ultimately wasteful?) route. IMO.
Even the most basic (full) squad will cost 10 000 credits. Then there would be Friendly costs to maximise training and that would cost around 4 000 a season.
And all for very little reward because even with credits back from regularly winning leagues you would end up in the top division with a team that would likely be ready to die on you and need rebuilding (more time and money).
So my advice (and I claim no special insights;-)) would be to swap to a division around five promotions below the top one. Build a basic squad (15 or 16 players) of youngsters and develop that with full progs of friendlies and planned training.
The season before (or after) you reach the top one, look at replacing the 4 or 5 duds you will have with players you can start training up to replace the ones you have that are nearest falling off their perches. They can just sit back while your main squad will have time to settle into the top division and (probably) reach a stage where they can challenge at the top with players at or near their peak. And you'll have a revolving player replacement system in place that shouldn't hurt your form too much).
As for private leagues, will they benefit you or just be a financial drain for at least the first few seasons (especially if your new squad gets regularly battered by established teams)?
Bound to be holes that some could pick in all that (which is a good thing) but I'd say we lose newbies every season because they come in expecting instant gratification and to be able to compete with the best. Even spending fortunes won't bring a new team that.
So plan and build patiently would be my advice, avoiding having a 20 player squad that has one good season before needing totally replacing and rebuilding and yet doesn't waste its best seasons away from the top division.
And look at formations the top teams use, plan your squad around an idea it and stick with it --- no mash ups caused by seeing a player you like the look of on the transfer market (however good he might be), if he doesn't fit in with your plan.

I've bought 3 players already, 2 any side midfields and a STR (C) - all mid to late 20's - do you think this is okay? Not sure what age I should be aiming for but curious to know if younger players train better? So my aim at this stage could be to sign another 12 players and by the time I hopefully climb to a x-1-1 I can sign another 5 new players to train whilst having a reasonably assembled squad.
I'm happy to stick with a full programme of friendlies and maybe play in the bottom FL mainly for gelling and experience.
I really appreciate your advice and look forward to building a squad that will hopefully compete with some of the tops managers in 4-5 seasons 8)

Good point. I will have a look to see if I can survive in a x-2-1 or x-2-2. However, you are right, it might be worth seeing out the rest of the current season as I could still go up via the playoffs which would probably look better on my history. Then start next season fresh in a higher division :)

I think you might have some reading to do? We could spoon feed you but learning is part of the fun (or maybe we just like pain ;-) and there's plenty of reading available on the forum.
If you didn't know, I will tell you you'll get 8 seasons out of all three of your signings. The striker looks a decent buy while the other two? OK they are all-rsiders - but you'll have to work at it to get their stamina up to the high 90s which is the least you will need if you want to compete. And, generally, all-rounders do not tend to perform as well as players dedicated to one position (but two GKs (some, not me, prefer three) two LBs, two RBs, one CB, two MFL and two MFR plus two MFCs and three central strikers would give you 16 and a flexible squad so long as you intend playing 4- 5-1).
If the early sub thing ever gets fixed/neutralised then all-siders might regain some usefulness but in the squad I've suggested and with current circumstances, I'd say they are not worthwhile. That'd leave you 4 to leave until later. Just my thoughts as of now (and others might have other ideas and hopefully they'll post them). Looking at my squad won't help because I have doing this a long while and sometime just fancy trying something different (which is what I'm working towards).
Get the right players and the right squad (and be prepared for weaker opponents to beat you purely because they get lucky guessing your tactics).
Last point: Private leagues --- the whole gelling thing is a mystery to most but having at least one in which to practice is a good idea even if you lose all your games. Whether you will get any gelling or not, maybe someone else can explain that to you. Also look for a 16 team competition as you will get 30 games for your 500 credits as opposed to the 14 from an 8 team league. You WILL get benefits from playing your best team in Friendlies so using them for experimenting or to rest players can backfire.

Yes, I knew my signings would last 8 seasons and now you have mentioned the stamina needing to be in the high 90's I will bare that in mind when scouting the transfer market ;)
This game is fun and I am bound to make mistakes along the way. Interesting insight regarding any sided players as the were key in SL2 so need to adapt to the SL1 model still - will take good time and patience of course!
I think formations is an area that I need to look at as well as the advice in the strategy tips suggests playing either 5-2-3 longball or 4-5-1 passing/continental. I'm sure there are many variations I can try but will depend on the squad I build and thank you again for your recommendations on player positions.

I was just (very briefly) considering the 4-5-1, got distracted and never changed it back. Never bothered checking either. In a sense it was getting into a routine that caused it. The misfortune was in that it had to be against you because I not only have to make up the points but the GD too. ;D Ho hum, c'est la vie --- maybe it was karma for my Rs having such a good week. :)

Toughness shines through. My right -sided striker broke his arm in the 60th minute last night (badly enough to keep him out for 8 weeks) but still managed two more goals in the last half hour. Rather hard to imagine any real-life Pro doing that 8)

Nah, I reckon I was due. I've seen it happen to other managers leading leagues (and even benefited from it), beat the better teams and lose, inexplicably, to a a team mid-table or lower. I'll be annoyed with myself if the result can be explained (with proof) but either way, as current players and managers love saying, we move on :-)

Have not won C8 for over 20 seasons now. I did win C5 with a team I built with minimum credits a while back just to prove to myself I could do it (just not in C8). It’s the strength in depth I guess, anyone in the top 12 can on their day cause an upset.

Quite prestigious as often teams finishing second were looking at going one step better the next season and and was played on CL nights. It got a bit silly with so many leagues only having one non-computer team but I could see a place for it now for the runners up in X-1-1 and X-1-2. It would be a reward for those who often finish just behind the Champions and would/might keep interest alive in some leagues in the final few weeks.

Unlucky Ivor, total pain in the arse Bedwell!! You just never know if they will turn up. i remember a few seasons back i waited up till around 02:00am to see if they would set up. i got tired and went to bed. low and behold got pumped 2-0, clown had totally countered everything he did when not turning up. of course you could try different things, but then he wouldn't turn up and you would end up drawing and raging because you tried something different, canna win :'(

A thought that can never be far away given what has happened to many of us in the past but it surely HAS to be a second team? Otherwise why bother with the expense and effort for no reward?
I seem to have got myself involved in a lot of daytime games just now but if I get time I'll go through Bedwell's games and see if there is a pattern in their matches. Often it's not the games that they do or don't set up for but how they play against their "master" team.

Southgates Waistcoat (which carries your SL name) seems to be doing well in C4 so you have obviously passed it over to someone else.
I suppose you could be hanging around if you were running other teams --- or (aparet from my earlier suggestion) why bother?

Barring another major turnaround in form, I'd say that'd be "top 1 is untouchable now". I had pretty much a full team last night and battered Bedwell, having 61/39 possession and 13/9 shots --- and they played the whole match --- with Buster Jones as Ref --- in Pansy mode.
One of those really irritating SL times but it looks like all I have left is ensuring survival in FL1 and just mainly preparing for next season.

Looking at your game Bedwell had 45 to your 30 TA. Normally with 2 strong teams a draw would be in order (the advantage cancelling out the wrong aggression). Lately though have noticed home advantage seems to be more prevalent. Otherwise it’s as you say one of those bummer results.
On the other hand a win for you tonight and it’s still game on as far as I’m concerned as I’m prone to Keaganesque folding! 🙄🙄🙄 Plus I do have to play a certain Bedwell.....

i received a mail from one of our fellow managers raising suspicion on some of our fellow competitors in our conference. The claim was that one of the managers was operating more than one team in the conference. Our colleague investigated further (over a season or so) and involved the 'go to guy' for any issues we may have with the game. his suspicions were confirmed as the 'mod' had been watching the said manager for a while and confirmed his suspicions. in fact it is suggested that the 'pathetic' cheat is operating 3 not 2 teams in 8-1-1.
i have over the seasons been on the receiving end of some strange results from these teams (2 more than 1) getting kicked all over the park and accruing long term injuries when the ref is not lenient at all. This in turn effects my games not only at night but afternoons, as i like to play a couple of matches during the day. i am not using this as an excuse for getting hammered this season in FL1 ::)
i have also missed out on chances to win the league, UCB's, Elite cups etc.. due to this clown, as have all the other competitors who play fairly in our conference.
i am also aware that a couple of you have had suspicions in the past as it has been mentioned before. i just want something done or i think it's time to move conference. this is not what i want to do as i have been in this conference since the switch over.

Problem is, that only one guy can confirm this, or indeed do anything about them, and Junior won't even reply to e-mails.
I have thought of moving conferences myself next season, but hate to give in to them.

I'm fairly sure there are no laws of libel that would apply to this so --- going on a hint above --- I am going to suggest we are talking about Pathetico Madrid. Checking just one game against them earlier in the season, they switched to Nutter after only 15 minutes. An odd thing to do when the ref was Billy Budgen (who I would consider very much a "Normal" ref). Soyay or nay folks --- let's have it.
And Bedwell. Considering their poor (and my good) league form they have twice managed to hold me to draws (the only ones this season to do that). It's happened before and it's happened to others and everything about them is, to be fair, rather odd?
So if it is three, maybe the "go to guy" could drop a few clues? Or just let's be blunt because unless it's the other Madrid (simply because of the Madrid thing) I can't see who it could be.

So I have just read these messages and am shocked to hear my name come up!! Let me clear some things up here.
Myself, Bedwell and Team Name all come from the same family because Team Name introduced myself and Bedwell to the game. We decided we want to play in the same conference so we could play against each other but we have NEVER cheated. I can honestly say I would rather lost to any other team in the conference than Team Name or Bedwell because of the family rivalry!
That is why we have our player names in the same format and why we play the same teams in friendlies. All of us have busy work lives so haven't got time to do the daytime games. I completely disagree with the comment that we seem to win against each other when we need to. A few times both Bedwell and Team Name have taken points off me when I was challenging for the title much to my annoyance and their delight!!! I can't remember which seasons it was but if someone can go back and check please do because I am many things but I am certainly not a cheat!
Jellys, I'm sorry to see you move and if it was because you thought the 3 of us were cheating then it was for the wrong reasons. We have never cheated to get results and never would. Also, I play exactly the same aggression against all teams so please go back and check my aggression levels and you will see that is true.
Also, we live in different address so our IP addresses will be different so please please please can someone check this to clear this up.

Just one other point, when I had the time to play in FL1, I would like to think I did okay without Bedwell or Team Name who have never played FL. If I was crap in FL and doing well in 8-1-1, I could understand concerns that I might have been having help in 8-1-1. Due to having a baby I have now much less time to play otherwise I would still be playing in FL.
To my knowledge there is no rule about family members playing in the same conference but if it causes people grief we will all move to different conferences. It will be less fun for the 3 of us because we won't get the chance to battle out competitive games against each other but I would rather do that than be called a cheat.

No worries iwopp, I used to spend a lot of time working out my tactics but due to the arrival of the little one, I now often just pick random tactics and hope for the best so rely on more luck than judgement!
Who can we ask to look into the IP addresses and logs? We all live in different places so this should clear everything up.
The only thing I do is change Bedwell's training because my old man doesn't understand this part of the game. I don't ever look or touch his team management page or tactics and this will be evident from the logs.
As I say, if it's an issue having 3 family members in one conference then we can move the teams because I would rather do that if anyone is concerned we go easy on each other (it's quite the opposite!)

We have a solid top 8 in Conf 8.) A couple of teams have been in to dip their toe in the water for a while but couldn't handle the competition. Left for easier conferences..

its a pretty competitive league. with maybe 10 managers i would say turn up regular. there's a couple in there that have decent squads but don't turn up when they get to 8-1-1 and seem content to float up and down.
there are a few of us that have been here for many a season. i look forward to the battle every new season with martin and Lynne, who are always up there. there are a few other teams in there who are strong season after season, Harry from fools and team name just to mention a couple. which makes for a decent Challenge every season. over the last few season there have been a couple more decent teams join in. makes it that bit more competitive to qualify for the different end of season comps.

Mate well deserved as I’ve already said. Me - just not consistent enough in the league plus had some unbelievable injuries in the run in against all of the good sides, which when added to a rebuild season meant playing yr 1 players in vital games, plus the wind was strong and the rain was too hard... but I’m not making excuses. I’ll play in the TEL for the first time.

Should we have a conference 8 cup this season? Maybe top 8 every 7 days. Make it last. I can set it up if there's interest. Other conferences seem to to it and enough of us play midday games to make it a thing.

Been a bit hectic myside with a newborn so not been on SL as much as I'd like and heading into the forums, all been a bit of a blur this last month or two lol.
Some new faces in C8 which is always good, welcome and looking forward to competing with you all.
Currently doing a bit of a rebuild with the Beeky Blinders however not started off too badly this season.

Phew! Dodged a bullet last night. Never expected to win a goalie and a midfielder on the same night and typically the goalkeeper was swapped for the midfield player I signed, very lucky to win that……

Not for the first time in this conference my oponent plays 90 mins Psycho and gives me three long term injuries. :- A broken cheek bone 8 week(s)/A sprained wrist 4 week(s)/A broken collar bone 8 week(s). Quarter-Finals
Fools United 0-1 FC Town Of Luton
After an incredibley tight 90 minutes finished 0-0 FC Town Of Luton managed to grab the all important extra time winner to move on to the next round!
Realale Madrid 2-0 Meltdown Sludge
One of the pre-tournament favourites eased into the semis with a lovely 2-0 win with 2 2nd half goals proving too much for Meltdown Sludge.
St Engleburt Eagles 0-1 King Kennys Army
A blockbuster quarter final between the reigning league champs and the champs in waiting. And it proved to be a tight affair with a 111th minute winner for King Kennys to progress.
Dogs Bollox 1-2 Sandford St Martin
After a 1-1 90 minute stalemate Sandfors St Martin managed to get the all important golden goal in the 111th minute, David Beckham proving he's still got it!
Semi-Finals
Realale Madrid 2-0 Sandford St Martin
Another comfortable win for Realale Madrid with a 2-0 scoreline. The only to win by more the 1 in the entire tournament. Really showing form going into the final.
King Kennys Army 1-0 FC Town Of Luton
Last year's 1 and 2 fought out a very tight battle and King Kennys Army came out on top (my 1st win over Martin) to progress to the final to play Realale!

Another very tight match with King Kennys taking the lead before being pegged back in normal time. Then on to the dreaded extra time where King Kennys managed another magical golden goal to add the all important Conference 8 Cup to his league title.

Once again I have to play a team who plays psycho for 90 mins. It seems like I am just recovering from the last injuries when I get similarly psycode once again. There are too many psycho maniacs in this conference. When i first joined this conference there was some "gentlemans agreement" that psycho was not played in the night games. Very disappointed how this conference is turning out.

Thank you to FC Town of Luton for playing Psycho for 90 minutes last night and breaking my Goalkeepers leg. Keeper now out for 12 weeks. I see no point in staying in this league for the rest of the season.

Englebert needed to get over the line, not worry about possibly losing to me tonight and blowing it. I get it, he wanted to win, the injuries probably enabled him to win, you do whatever is required.
