Title: The Gee Gees
Post by: harv on May 28, 2012, 02:54:13 AM
Just wondering if any of you enjoy a flutter..?

I generally don't bother unless I get a tip or have a few quid on the Grand National.

I've got over £300 in my Betfair account at the mo, but that's mostly down to football lays and I've withdrawn £45 winnings from another football bet that came in earlier.

So do you enjoy a bet..? Do you generally win..?

I've got my eye on something that's going to guarantee me a steady profit (http://www.allbythebook.com/) but I need to open up a few more accounts with online bookies and build up my bank a little more, and I'll do that by continuing my Bonus Bagging. Going to have to spread my bets across several bookies though and may have to lose a few bets on purpose to save my accounts being closed down, several people have had their accounts chopped because they weren't using their heads using this system lol. It's had rave reviews all over the place!!! :o 8)

I've always thought it dodgy having bookies banning customers who win too much tbh. Happened to one of my ex-bosses years ago, he kept on winning (and we're talking thousands) so they stopped taking his bets. Always reminds me of a spoilt little kid taking his ball home lololol ;D

Paying more money for people to tell you how to bet... LOL.. your a mug harv

Its like putting a pound in the fruit machine and telling your mates to press all the buttons.. wheres the fun in that ?

The fun comes from making money mate. All By The Book 2 has had rave reviews all over the place, it's a sound investment by all accounts. Just need to increase my bank a little further and I'm ready to go. 8)

Will have over £400 in my betting bank after tomorrow 8)

Think I'll wait until I get over £600 before I start playing around with All By The Book 2. This is going to enable me to not only pay for my U console in the not-too-distant future but will also allow me to pay off my credit cards.

I was going to go for Russell Gibbs' Backing and Laying Service because that's also had some great reviews but All By The Book 2 is the better choice I think, will wait until I have a more sizable bank before giving that a go as it involves actual gambling rather than certain profits. ;D

I'd rather be working if I was able to. :( ::) :'(

Edit: I'm also toying with the idea of dabbling in a little Forex Trading with my profits, am pretty much 50/50 on investing in the Gee Gees or Forex at the moment. There's more of a risk involved in the latter but greater rewards. And as long as I'm playing with profit I'm not going to be losing anything. ;D

Decided on the gee gees with a good laying system for Bet365. If the horse wins you get a free £50 bet for the next race, and if it loses you obviously get the stake and liability from Betfair. I've also managed to get a lower lay price than my bet with the bookies for my first two bets so I was in a no-lose situation 8).

£480 in my Betfair account, £100 worth of free bets with Bet365 and £45 waiting to clear into my account from 888Sport. Nice. ;D

As soon as I get around £800 I'm going to go for the All By The Book 2 strategy, I'm going to need a bank of £100 with 7 bookies and £87 for the system that's been getting rave reviews all over the place. Should be able to clear my credit cards in a few months as long as the bookies don't close any of my accounts. :o ;D :-\ :o

Has anyone actually been to a race meeting..? Was thinking it would be an ideal way to capitalise on 'In Play' betting considering all commentaries have a slight delay, would certainly be a good earner with Betfair.

Was meaning to go to one with my mate Dave who tragically passed away in August last year but we never got around to it. :( He used to go to the Arc Triumphe (sp?) with another mate of ours who unfortunately lost his battle with cancer a couple of years ago.

Might have to organise a day out with a few friends at some point but it's very difficult for me because most days I'm unable to leave my flat. :'(

Edit: £617.42 in my Betfair account now, should have been more but didn't grab decent lay odds on a horsie earlier, got greedy and price went up lol. Still made a profit but missed out on 30 quid or so lol. Going to have to withdraw a couple of hundred quid to pay my rent but the way I'm going it won't take me long to get the 800 quid I need for ABTB2. 8)

Another Edit: Have just stumbled upon another betting system, this time a football one, which genuinely has around a 95% success rate!!! :o Bloody hell, and it has been staring us all in the bloomin face week after week, season after season!!!! Statistically only around 5% of matches end in a 0-0 draw. Not too sure of the ins and outs of how it works but it's based on Betfair's 1 goal or more bet under Total Goals. The odds of that are ridiculously short, saw a match in the early hours of this morning that had odds of 50/3 ON so there must be some trick to it that I'm not seeing at the moment :-\ Going to fork out just under £50 for it to find out what it's all about, but he has a money back guarantee so it's worth a punt. Can't believe I didn't see that statistic before, I used to work with football stats every day testing Champ Man so I really should have noticed it!!!

Going to carry on with my Bonus Bagging in the meantime, will have just over £670 in my Betfair account soonish. You guys should really check Bonus Bagging out, it's great!

Have just discovered another system, Betfair Maverick. Am paper trading at the moment and am in profit on 6/6 races so far. Quite clever how it works, it's based on the pace of horsies and takes advantage of idiots that back horsies in the lead. You back it at a higher price and because of the horsie's pace you lay it at a lower price with in-play betting using a bot so guarantee a profit. 7/7 now 8)

Looks like I've made a very sound investment here. ;D

Post by: harv on August 14, 2012, 11:11:42 PM
Got plenty of money in my betting bank, not quite a million though lol. This Betting Maverick is going to be a goldmine tbh, although I'm going to have to keep to 1m races and not be greedy to minimise risk. Can't believe there are so many gullible people during in-play betting that don't pay any attention to a horsie's pace or form, the silly sods stick money on any old gee gee that's in the lead lol. It's all there on the Racing Post web site if you know where to look. I've actually used a different site for my pace scores, saves me having to translate the cryptic comments at the Racing Post and adding up pace scores myself lol ;D

Got a fair bit more Bonus Bagging to do as well. 8)

It's all going to fund my mammoth Wii U launch day purchase during the next few months and I'll have plenty left over to Maverick up 8)

I've also invested in a football tipping service with an 80-odd% success rate so that's another potential betting revenue stream to add to the list.

Lol, I've got £420-odd quids worth of profit in my betting bank, should be more but I've lost a few bets without laying them with Betfair...this guaranteed profit every time means you don't get a buzz so I've had a few 'proper' bets here and there, some winners and some losers...about 50-50 I reckon. 8)

Should have another £100-150 on top by the time I've finished this Bonus Bagging and maybe £80-odd quid per week from the Betfair Maverick system. It may not be millions but has got me an electric guitar, 15W practice amp and a stunning RP255 multi effects pedal (and about 20 minutes ago I've created a wicked custom effect, gotta love a bit of Delay!), with a Wii U, Pro controller, ZombiU, Rayman Legends, Arkham City, FIFA 13, Assassins Creed 3, Darksiders 2, Lego City Undercover and Pikmin 3 on the way.

Doesn't sound too shabby to me lol.

This is over a considerable amount of time, it's a case of good days and bad weeks unfortunately. When having a good day I'm able to function but bad days I'm not. Used to have good days and bad days but things have gone downhill considerably since my best mate passed away just over a year ago. If I could find an employer that is quite happy with me not going into work for weeks at a time I'd be sorted. :-\

Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: Dragontao on August 15, 2012, 07:41:44 PM
I went part time a couple of years ago, 3 days a week, to accomodate studying again. Though I'm also doing voluntary work one day a week.

Broke now but definitely happier. I really could do with going back full time though as things are getting a bit tight, but also want to get an MSc and PhD done while I'm part time. Unlikely I'll get a decent research post for a PhD at my age.

Trouble is I don't think I could face going back full time in a job I don't like. As long as interest rates stay low during my MSc at least, I should be okay. A decent pay rise wouldn't go amiss. Not had one for two years now and costs are really going up. Travel costs to work are now taking 15% of my take home salary.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: harv on August 15, 2012, 07:57:18 PM
Even part-time work wouldn't be suitable for me unfortunately. That would be reliant on me being fit for work on specific days and times, and I don't know how I'm going to be feeling from one day to the next. Depression is crippling unfortunately. I have days where I think I'd be better of dead, days where I can't face doing all of my injections, days where I have problems eating, days where I can't leave my flat and days where the trouble I'm having with doing my injections and eating properly are putting me in danger of going into a coma, I'm having 2 or 3 hypos per week on average that make me lose consciousness. :-[

I had a nervous breakdown in 93 and looking back I've had problems with depression since I was a kid, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy tbh.

Haven't felt up to doing any bets today using the Maverick system, will see how I'm doing during these next few days.

I've had depression (though you never really shake it) and was on prozac for a while. To a degree you can control it and making life changes improved mine, which involved a change of career (my employer along with severe family problems were a major cause) and going back to uni. It's not easy but you can make changes that improve things for yourself. So I do appreciate the problems of depression and am far more sympathetic to the condition because it is truly horrible and if you've never had it you can't possibly understand it, but at some point you have to stop feeling sorry for yourself and deal with the problems. Unless you do it will never improve.

My problem is that I become homicidal not suicidal when suffering with depression (that's homicidal, not homosexual, don't get excited Harv). I worked with my doctor's son, I think that's why he signed me off work sick in all honesty, because my doctor has also seen me in the ring (that's boxing ring Harv, again don't let your tendencies confuse you - perhaps I should have just said he's seen me fight). He was the doctor in attendance at one of my fights and had to revive my opponent.

Aw ffs, Lmfao. I've just made a HUGE cock up and lost £220 worth of my betting profits lololol. I put 50 quid on a draw for the Athletico Madrid match tonight and laid the draw for Athletico Madrid B by mistake!!!! And the fuckers drew lololol. Oh well, haven't lost anything really as it was all profit lol ;D

Have still got another 500 quid or so worth of bonuses to take advantage of so no reason to panic lol :P

Edit: Make that £820 lol :P

Five of my tenfold have come in tonight!  ;D Just Benfica, Inter, Newcastle during the week and Fulham & Swansea at the weekend.

Would have won £1500 if I'd stuck just the five on tonight... wish I wasn't so greedy.

LOL... you put £20 on a tenfold bet.. nutter!  Good luck.. at least your half way there!

I sometimes put a few quid on a 6/7/8 way accumulator (saturdays Prem games) each week instead of doing the lottery... usual return is anywhere between £200-£800...

...the way I see it is, why waste money on the lottery when the odds are so gimped... although I havent had a winner yet... I've had 6 of 7 come in once.. and was one goal short of winning around £400... not a nice feeling when that happens..  >:(
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: Late on September 19, 2012, 10:00:21 AM
I don't bet much these days - probably only about 3 fivers a year - but I used to have a bet on the Premiership most weekends. I'd usually bet on 8 matches, staking 15p on 28 sixfolds, 8 sevenfolds and 1 accumulator. Total cost of bet £5.55. (Yeah, I love the 555...)
Potential winnings varied massively from week to week, of course, depending on the odds of the teams I was betting on, but typically you were looking at around £50-£200 if six came in, around £500-£2,000 if seven came in, and around £5,000-£20,000 if all eight were correct.

Never once got all eight, or indeed seven, but I got six out of eight right about once a season. I think that in every single instance Boro were one of the two teams that let me down (don't ever bet on your own team in an accumulator!*).
I can't adequately convey the frustration and mixed emotions of collecting about £80, knowing it would've been about £800 if the team you love could have held on to their two goal half-time lead against ten men instead of throwing away two points and £720 of my money...

*Especially if they're a bit crap.

Done a "late" special.. £5.55 bet with 15p on 6folds, 7folds and an accumulator on t'weekends matches...  ;D

I went for...

Swansea, Newcastle, West Brom, Man City, Wigan and Chelsea to win.
Soton/Villa and Liverpool/United to Draw.

Potential returns = £867.88  8)

*Didnt heed advice about betting on your own team..  :P

Have just joined a tipping service that's got stellar reviews, missed the first e/w tip which came in to 2nd place. Only costs 17 quid per month with a money back period for 60 days.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: Late on September 22, 2012, 05:31:36 PM
I do accounts and tax returns for a number of tipsters. All of them are pretty well off - but not from gambling.
Every single one of them makes significantly more from selling tips and systems than from gambling (and most gamble a lot).

Did a set of accounts a few weeks back for one. Can't remember the exact figures but he made around £150k from telephone tips services (that's his income - he had about £50k of expenses, mainly postage and telephone). His horses earned around £60k (with expenses of about £50k) - not much money there, but gets him in the stables, where he learns a lot. And he collected around £60k from his betting - after staking around £80k.

That's fairly typical of the tipsters, tbh. Lose a bit through gambling, earn a small amount from the horses, make a fortune from selling tips (when clearly they don't pick anywhere near as many winners as their customers expect).
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: harv on September 22, 2012, 09:41:24 PM
Well I'm up today, and like I said his tipping service has had great reviews. And with the 60 days guarantee you only lose what you put on the horsies. It's only 17 quid per month and going by today I should make that back in a couple of days. I'm only using £2 win and £2 each way stakes to begin with though but a few more days like today and I'll raise my stakes to £5.

I might start having a look at these horsies from Betting Maverick, couldn't be arsed to open up the program that 'greens' your money with Betfair in-play so I just stuck a quid each way on Veer in the 21:20 at Wolverhampton with Paddy Powers at 12/1 because it had a pace rating way higher than the rest and it came in. Nice 8)

Betting Maverick requires a bit of concentration though which is difficult a great deal of the time due to my illness. :(

Post by: harv on September 26, 2012, 12:46:27 AM
Well I'm in profit so far and like I said before the service has had some great reviews. Very happy with it so far. 8)

Edit: Another 37 quid up, although only two out of five tips came in this time. I increased my stakes to a tenner this time...think I'll stick with that rather than upping it any more until I have over 400 quid in my betting bank.

I'm knocking these football tips on the head after tomorrow, they hardly ever come in and are all odds-on bets so there's not much profit when they do come in. Still, will get my two months fees back and the money I've lost was all profit from Bonus Bagging anyway.

Still smarting over that cock up I made with Athletico Madrid B the other week, I'd have around £550 in my betting bank if it weren't for that >:(
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: harv on September 29, 2012, 08:16:22 PM
Another profit today. That's around £125 profit since I started backing these tips. I did £20 stakes today, either a £20 win or £10 each way and will continue to back those stakes I think.

If anyone fancies giving it a go you can check it out here (http://www.themidasmethod.net/).

I started off with £2 stakes because I wasn't too sure how good the tips were going to be but increased that to £5, £10 and have now decided to stick to £20 stakes until I make another £100 worth of profit, then I might stretch to £30. Tips arrive by email between 12 and 1pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Can't believe the tips have been this good tbh, very pleasantly surprised. Won't be long before I make back that £220 I lost due to me being a dozy twat! 8)

Need £500 in my betting bank before I can make another £150ish risk free on spread betting! ;D

Edit: Cancelled my subscription for these supposedly 80-odd% successful football tips. Bloomin useless. All odds-on favourites and nowhere near as successful as they claimed. Got my 2 months subscription fees refunded.

I'd agree on the CL games.. although would be a bit wary of betting on citeh with their patchy european record... slight risk... wouldnt have a scooby about betting on the championship really...

I had 4 of 7 come in yesterday.. Bayern and Spartak losing did me in... although the bet was covered by a seperate bet on chelsea to win..

Should probably start a football tipping thread.. wouldnt want to spoil harvs gay horse thread  ;D

Am back on the Roulette again. Got a welcome bonus thingummybob from 888 Casino, deposit £20 and get a £50 bonus. They also do 7 free spins on one of their slot machines every week too. Had 20p in my account, got £13.50 from the free spins which gave me £83.70 altogether last night. I've now got £300.20 in there lol.

Have learnt from my experience with the Ladbrokes casino and am doing hit and run jobs at 888, giving me £5-10 profit every time so that I'm only spending 15 minutes or so at the table every time. Am also on a table with a minimum stake of 50p and am sticking to that limit. I got greedy at Ladbrokes and raised my stakes to £2 part of the way through if I remember rightly and got well and truly burnt lol. :P

If I keep my discipline I should be able to pay a fair old whack off my credit cards, which is handy because I need to pay off the money I've spent on my Wii U. 8)

Its funny because he told us back in August he'd already had enough with his winnings to pay for his Wii U (and more!) ;D   Guess the bonus bagging buggered up  ;D

Yup, not Bonus Bagging though, it was one of the tipping services. There's more money in Roulette with this system although it's not 100% risk free. Lost £50 last night because I got greedy so now have 280 quid in my 888 account. As long as I keep my discipline though it's a licence to print money. 8)

Went from 84 quid to 195 on Sunday and 195 to 280 last night. Not too bad for a 20 quid stake :P ;D

Edit: £385 now, should have over £400 before the day is done. Wish I'd discovered this years ago :o

Thought I'd hijack this thread with my horse betting results rather than bung them in the football thread..

Using manvsbookie.com - and going solely off the 2 tipsters they use... I used it sporadically last week and went from an initial £8 stake to £52 - so £46 profit.

Using it properly this week..so that means placing the 8 bets they tell you place each day on the horses running (Im only using £1 stakes on each bet) - started with £22 in the pot - and these are the results

Monday - £4 loss
Tuesday - £2 loss
Wednesday - so far a £2 loss - although if the heavy favourite in the 7pm meeting at Kempton (Flamboroughs Breeze) comes in - it will activate a treble - if he wins it will be £50 profit - if he places, Im not sure what I'll get back but it should be profit.

Tuesday was unlucky, one of the horses which was recommended by both tipsters was leading but made a mistake on the last fence, fell and subsequently had to be put down :(

Certainly the tips look quite good.. but you only really make profit if the trebles come in.  Im not sure its really worth the effort to be honest, I havent got a foggiest when it comes to horses, so Im relying on these tips but not really getting any enjoyment out of it because I dont have the time to watch the live feeds.  If I increased the stakes I'd be increasing the profit which makes the effort worthwhile... but also increases the risk of losing a fair bit - which is not something I'd want to do.

Hows the roulette going harv ? lol

Like a broken record you two  ::)

Monday = -£3.84
Tuesday = -£2.00
Wednesday = £0.30p
Thursday = £0.30p

Total this week is a £5.24 loss so far.
To be noted - I was one result away from a 52-1 treble on Wednesday and a heavy favourite let me down on a 40-1 treble on Thursday.

Gonna continue on until the end of the week and record results - but I think I just wont bother from next week onwards... seems like too much effort for too little return.  Never know until you try though.

Finished my weeks test with manvsbookie now...

Monday = -£3.84
Tuesday = -£2.00
Wednesday = £0.30p
Thursday = £0.30p
Friday = £0.25p
Saturday = -£3.50
Sunday = -£8.00

So total loss this week = £16.49  :o

Thats pretty much made my mind up that I wont be following these tips anymore... Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were all 1 horse off a 52/1, 40/1 and a 42/1 win treble (wednesday actually won on an e/w treble bet)... so they were all close.. but Sunday was awful and apparently their worst day on the site.

Still made a bit of profit out of it all.. so cant complain really.. but what a waste of time.

I don't bet much these days (a few quid on the Grand National, and a fiver on a match twice a year or so), but I did have a season long bet on the 4 main English footy divisions this year. Not far to go now, and I've got mixed results.
So, predicting on the 4 division winners I've got one accumulator, four trebles, and six doubles, each at a quid (so £11 cost).
Prem: Man Utd
Champ: Bolton
Lg 1: Sheff Utd
Lg 2: Fleetwood
If two come in I'm on for about £25 (depends on which two).
If three come in it's around £300. If all four it's £2421.75

Not gonna get rich on this one, as Bolton have had a very poor season (they've been okay this last couple of months, but they ain't gonna win the league), and Fleetwood are pretty much out of it.
So I find myself cheering on Sheffield United for the final couple months of the season (currently in 2nd, one point behind Doncaster, in a tight race with several other teams).

Come on you blades! Join ManU in winning a division, and earn me the princely sum of £22.50!

Cheltenham Gold Cup - 3:20 today - I've got 20 big ones on Hurricane Fly to win.. had the bet for a while to be honest when he was at 3/1.  Although Paddy Power are doing money back if Hurricane Fly wins if anyone fancies a flutter... Rock on Ruby is the only other horse I quite fancy to win it.

I watched Synchronised smash home last year - hopefully will be able to watch a sneaky live feed although I will be at work  :-\
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 12, 2013, 03:07:59 PM
Had a few sneaky bets on all the races today - I love Cheltenham...

Champagne Fever at 6/1 - £1 EW
and an enhanced PP special on Simonsig at evens - £10 Win

means Im in already in profit whatever happens later on  8)

Might bung some of that on Quevega in the Mares though - shes a beast and should absolutely romp home.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 12, 2013, 04:39:36 PM
Hurricane Fly!!! Nice!  Paddy Power must be taking a battering today.

Gold Cup?? I meant Champions Hurdle of course.. Gold Cup on Friday.

No other winners just yet, Fruity ORooney just finished outside the places earlier on :(

Stuck a tenner on Quevega - clearly the one they all have to beat.

Edit : Go Quevega!! 4 1sts, and a 5th today - its a good day!! - £50 stake - £125 returned :) Plus two more bets to run.

Coral are doing a deposit £10 get £10 free every day this week and William Hill appear to be doing a 5 places e/w payout on 1 race every day of the meeting at a quarter the odds so good way to get a profit there. Paddy's web site has gone tits up, for a bookie that size to have problems during one of the biggest meetings of the year is pretty disgraceful. :o
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 12, 2013, 06:25:20 PM
Apparently the 80/1 shot I had E/W in the third race (His Excellency) paid out at a few bookies.. but not Paddy Power nor William Hill - bugger!!

Although PP did have a few special money backs today which all activated - but I should really look around when placing bets.. :(

Shangani placed 4th in the last race today - so made a few more quid on that too at 8/1
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 13, 2013, 08:31:57 AM
Took out enough to leave me with £20 for today... its tough today.. apart from Sprinter Sacre and possibly Pont Alexandre there isnt much else I fancy.. so mainly stuck to £1 EW bets

Gone for :

1:30 - GodsmeJudge - EW @ 13/2
2:05 - Taquin Du Seuil - EW @ 5/1
2:40 - Uniste - EW @ 7/2
4:00 - Master Of The Sea - EW @ 14/1
4:40 - Megalypos - EW @ 9/1
5:15 - The Liquidator - EW @ 16/1

With a £5 double on Sprinter Sacre & Pont Alexandre @ 5/2

and then done 4folds, 5folds and 6folds on Back In Focus, Pont Alexandre, Unionste, Sprinter Sacre, Master Of The Sea, Megalypos, Le Vent Dantan - would return just under 2 grand if they all come in  ;D

Anything I win today I will withdraw and start looking at using a different bookies for the rest of the festival - BoyleSports is said to be quite good for the horses.. plus I havent used them before so should be able to do some bonus bagging - oh god Im turning into harv  :'(
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: harv on March 13, 2013, 10:56:45 AM
Coral are doing a special one Sprinter Sacre, it's Evens for a maximum of £20 (so a maximum stake of £10).

And there's nowt wrong with Bonus Bagging, it's free money 8)
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 13, 2013, 11:36:28 AM
Nice one!  On it like a car bonnet!  8)  its actually a maximum stake of £20 - which I put on.. Sprinter Sacre (if he doesnt fall) should easily romp home victorious.

Nope.. it says in the T&C underneath the bet that its £20 maximum stake.

1:30 just ran..great race and finish..
Back in Focus (on accum - 1st)
GodsmeJudge (EW - 3rd)

Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 13, 2013, 02:12:57 PM
Bugger, Pont Alexandre was crap.. and Taquin Du Seuil came nowhere... not a good 2nd race for me, still if Sprinter Sacre wins Im in profit for the day and I cant see anything beating him.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 13, 2013, 03:27:15 PM
Easy!!  It was a dead cert.. bloody live ch4 feed cut out just as he had overtaken Sizing Europe.. and took a minute to get back to see him cross the line as winner  ;D

£2.75 in profit for the day whatever happens later... some of these Each Wayers need to bloody come in now.

Edit : Think Coral website has gone down, certainly I cant log in at the moment...  :o

Edit Edit : Still cant log-in to Coral, they are having massive problems by the look of it... Master Of The Sea and The Liquidator both placed though - so made £12.50 profit today.. would of just been better backing Sprinter Sacre only but never mind.. got a couple of quid left on Malaga to draw with Porto tonight - so hopefully that will bump it up a bit more... looking forward to Thursday and Friday - turned about £90 profit over the last two days now :)

Done my bets for day 3 - not feeling too confident today for some reason... but i've opened up a betfred account and stuck a score on the nose on Dynaste in the first race... will get a free bet back to the same tune win or lose.. but like yesterday its a pretty open field in all races today.  Paddy Power are doing money back on every race if the SP favourite wins so I've picked EW bets on the other races through them.

Fingers crossed mainly for Dynaste but also Ballynagour and First Lietuenant.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 14, 2013, 01:43:21 PM
Bollocks... thought when Dynaste went in front at the 3rd last it would go on to win, but Benefficient stormed back and won easily - bastard!! LOL... my EW bet on Captain Conan was bloody 3rd and fell to 5th right at the end too meaning no place >:(

Have to hope some of my EW bets come in to stem the loss now  :-\

Edit : Oooh bollocks not having much luck so far today - had 2 horses finish one out of the places now.. really need Ballynagour to come in later on and one of the 3 Each Wayers I have left to win to break even now - bloody Dynaste  >:(  Least I have a £20 free bet for tomorrows Gold Cup for a bit of redemption.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 15, 2013, 08:25:00 AM
Ended up about £30 loss yesterday  :o Did have a 20/1 and a 12/1 come in 2nd.. and Dynaste really screwed me over - but I was close to a fairly good day... but close isnt good enough.  Hopefully today brings better fortunes... gone for Silviniaco Conti in the gold cup today using my £20 free bet from betfred.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 15, 2013, 03:40:36 PM
Bobs Worth wins the gold cup, great run and comeback from him.. thought he was long gone at the third from last.. then bloody Silviniaco Conti who was in a great position fell (horse and jockey ok thankfully) and then Bobs Worth just rocketed up the field and stormed past the leaders.. he was the favourite.. thought Silviniaco Conti would of given him a good challenge for first if he hadnt fell...

Ah well, I had Rolling Star (finished nowhere) and African Gold (2nd) earlier on, which pretty much evened themeselves out in terms of profit/loss.

Made about £50 in profit over the 4 days.. which isnt too bad I suppose.. still annoyed at the Dynaste result.. but then you cant win them all - looking forward to the National in a few weeks.. won jack shit on that for the past couple of years now.. definitely time for a change of luck.

Any tips for the Grand National (other than "don't bet - it's a mugs game!")?

I'll probably be putting two quid each on four horses chosen by me, the wife, and the kids - but we just go for names or colours we like, as none of us knows anything about horse racing.
(Usually go £2 on the nose if it's under about 20/1 and £1 e/w over about 20/1)

Can't be arsed with all those offers of free bets if you open internet accounts. I'm a compulsive sort, and don't want to run the risk of becoming an addict by making betting easier. I prefer to stop off at the bookies two or three times a year on the way to do the "big shop" on a Saturday.

You'll have as much luck going for a name or colours you like as someone that knows anything about racing. The Grand National is a lottery, always has been and always will be.

Forgot to say that the donkey I named above is probably in a tube of glue by now lol ;D

Have found a decent tipping service that's doing great so far. They have a race tips for winners, place tips for places (which has actually thrown up a few decent wins and lay tips too. Haven't gone near the latter yet but the former two have been performing pretty well, my betting bank is now £107.something with the last horse running as I'm posting. I've actually started to bet on a place for all of the winning tips unless the odds of it are way in front of the others and it's working pretty well so far. Going to wait until I get over £200 and then increase my stakes...mind you, that will probably trigger a losing run knowing my luck lol ;D ;D ;D

Got a £5 free casino bet from PP.. decided to just pick a number (4) and bung it all on.. it came in.. £180... lol

Then I read the T&C's... you have to play through your bonus 150 times before you can withdraw anything - and only certain bets actually contribute to those 150 times.. (anything that covers less than 50% of the board, so Red & Black is ok)  ::)

So sat here, doing the stupid.. just bet on red trick with incrementing double bets if you lose trick... I'm betting minimum £5 a time... figure I wont need to do it 150 times because if I lose then obviously the next bet is doubled...

...could lose it all.. don't care.. could win quite a bit if I have the patience and a bit of luck

I'll probably get narked off though and just bet it all on one colour soon..  ;D

Edit : Lol.. 5 blacks in a row.. didn't lose it all.. down to £117.... but only £200 left to wager

Edit Edit - Last £100 to wager.. had £150 - was betting on black and changed to red... just wanted one win to withdraw it all.. then 9 blacks in a row.. lost everything.. what a waste of 2 hours lol

Fuck it.. just lumped a score on Hurricane Fly in the Champions Hurdle next week.. I've seen that horse and he can fucking fly.. 11/4 odds at the moment.. I bet it will shorten quite a lot come next week though..

Also I'd get on Quevega in the Mares Hurdle quite quickly... odds shortening all the time.. it absolutely romped home last year and looks to be a dead cert this year too.  Edit : I'm probably gonna sign up with SkyBet today and get the free £30 matched bet for this one
Title: Re: The Gee Gees

Nice.. PP giving away an enhanced 7/2 special on Bobs Worth to win the gold cup.. worth a punt - £10 max bet.

I'm done betting now.. all of it on Day 1 - with just that £10 on Bobs Worth on the last day.. if I win anything on the 1st day I might have a look at whats going on Day 2/3 aswell - Just need Quevega to come in to break even more or less :-X

Supreme Novices Chase - Vautour - 3/1
Champions Hurdle - Hurricane Fly - 11/4
Mares Hurdle - Quevega - 4/6
National Hunt - Suntiep - 9/1
Gold Cup - Bobs Worth - 7/2

You've just thrown away your cash mate, Hurricane Fly is going to get swatted. Why..? Because I've stuck a tenner on it lololol. William Hill had 6/1 for a limited time but I missed out on it...so stuck a tenner on at 2/1ish. They'll probably shoot the bugger tomorrow, Georgie Porgie is going to be having him for dinner next week lololol :o :( :P
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 11, 2014, 09:22:33 AM
Its got a awesome chance to win it for a third time.. but have to say.. this year, it has some real tough competition..

Quevega is the one you want to get on.. won the mares hurdle 5 years in a row..will make history today for being the first horse to win the same race 6 times in 6 consecutive festivals.. at 4/6 its a decent price.. the odds reflect that the horse doesn't really race very much outside of Cheltenham though.

Edit :

Added two more horses to Day 1 - because coral sent me an email, bet £5 get a £5 free bet, so got a horse to follow in pretty much each race now.

So today I've now got :

1:30 - Vautour (3/1)
2:05 - Champagne Fever (3/1)
2:40 - Time for Rupert (14/1 - E/W - Freebet)
3:20 - Hurricane Fly (11/4)
4:00 - Quevega (4/6)
4:40 - Suntiep (9/1 - E/W - Freebet)
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 11, 2014, 01:35:23 PM
Nice, good start.... Vautour led from start to finish.. always bet on an irish horse to win the first race.. especially with Ruby on..  ;D

Wow.. where the fuck did Western Warhorse come from.. 33/1 and beats Champagne Fever at the line.. bloody hell

Time for Rupert came absolutely nowhere lol

Cmon the Hurricane!  Bugger.. fell away at the end and finished 4th

Quevega came in.. JUST.. fucking lucky on that one.. but that's put me £20 in the black for today.

Suntiep still to run.. put my £30 free-bet on this outsider nag.. so could be huge profit if he comes in

Bollocks.. Suntiep was last pretty much the whole race, then he went mad for it and finished 3rd..another furlong and he would of won the bugger and I'd of been on for £200 on my free-bet.. as it was.. I only got £33.75 back from it - so stuck a fiver E/W on Present View in the last race.

Present View just nudges it !!  Phew.. Last 3 races have saved my day from being somewhat of a disaster.. made a profit of £75 ;D

But still pissed at Champagne Fever being beaten by a head from a total longshot and Suntiep not giving it enough time to mount a proper challenge - could of been so much more  >:(

If you fancy a flutter tomorrow.. I'm seriously considering Faugheen in the 1:30 race.. its the favourite.. but for a good reason, might find another betting website for a free bet on that one.

It will be after that result...that was my point ;) :P
Title: Re: The Gee Gees

Going for 3 tomorrow :

1:30 - Faugheen (2/1)
3:20 - Sire De Grugy (Coral offering 4/1 at 8:30 tomorrow)
5:15 - Shaneshill (13/2 - EW)

Faugheen is my banker.. he's an absolute beast - which is why he is favourite - but will make a profit if any of the first two come in.  Not touching the other races.. too many runners to pick from.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 12, 2014, 02:03:50 PM
Faugheen wins by about 4-5 lengths.. bit wobbly on a couple of the last jumps made me wonder if he was gonna fall, but it powered through them.. put me £15 up for the day whatever the outcome of the other two races now.. I stuck £20 on Sire De Grugy as well so that would return £80 profit.. could be another good day  :D

Just added another small bet on todays action :
4:00 Balthazar King (5/1 EW)

Get in Sire De Grugy!! Romps home.. think it had a bit of a fortunate race though with 3 of the other close favourites all pulling up.. cant argue with Coral's generous 4-1 though.. and extra £80 profit  ;D

Mate you've got some serious luck. Buy me a lottery ticket!

So that's three outta three so far today, with one left to run?
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 12, 2014, 04:32:20 PM
Yep Balthazar King came in first.. I couldn't listen/watch the race so don't know how it went down... but I only stuck £2.50 EW on it.. got £20 back..

Just need Shaneshill to come in later for the clean sweep !!

Faugheen was the heavy favourite and Sire De Grugy went off as a heavy favourite too.. so not sure so much about luck.. but might have to buy a lottery ticket for the weekend just in case lol

If only you could go back to yesterday and make today's four bets an accumulator instead of four singles.

I don't know how much you staked on each race but if we say £10 on the nose for the first two and £5 each way on the last two, with the odds you've mentioned and assuming all four win: four single bets would cost £40 and earn £172; whereas an accumulator (also costing £40) would see you walking away from the bookies with £27'000.  :o

Still - that's hindsight and assumptions, eh!
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 12, 2014, 04:50:37 PM
lol.. I stuck £20 on the nose for the first 2, £2.50 EW on Balthy.. and £5 EW on Shaneshill...  (I actually got Faugheen at 5/2 - not 2/1 as I posted)

.. I was thinking today that I probably should of gone for a double on the first two as I thought they were come home with the bacon.. never mind.

I got a bit confused earlier with the odds and what I had staked.. but doing a quick count, profit-wise today I've made £145ish.. and to think I could be walking away with £43k on a £55 accumulator... I hope Shaneshill loses now so I don't feel so guilty about the accumulator.  ;D

Shaneshill came 2nd in the end.. Silver Concorde just had enough to hold him off and win by a length.. it was a pretty close race though..least I get some money back and don't feel too bad on missing out on the accumulator now :P  - Got £3.12 profit back on Shaneshill lol - well worth it !

Title: Re: The Gee Gees

Not really feeling much scope for any profit today at all..

Quite fancy Annie Power, but Paddy Power have a bet special on, if your horse finishes 2nd to Annie Power, they will refund your stake.. so I've got £10 on Big Bucks to win at 4/1 instead.

Might stick a few quid EW on a few horses later, but really haven't had to time to check out any of the races yet.

Gone with nearly a full line up - pretty much all low stakes today though

13:30 Wonderful Charm (9/2 - £2.50 EW)
14:05 Seefood (14/1 - £1 EW)
14:40 Hidden Cyclone (10/1 - £1 EW)
15:20 Big Bucks (4/1 - £10)
16:00 Firth of the Clyde (18/1 - £0.5 EW)
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on March 13, 2014, 01:35:34 PM
Wonderful Charm finished 5th.. never really in it to be honest.. oh well, I can't see much coming in today... its all about Big Bucks though.. looking forward to that race

Seefood finished nowhere.. was in the mix for a while and it was a very close fought race between quite a few horses.. but Seefood tired towards the end and drifted from the front runners - oh well :(

Hidden Cyclone finishes 2nd.. just couldn't hold off Dynaste.. who I didn't want to bet on as he let me down badly last year and this race was a longer distance.. still got something on the board at least.

Big Bucks - Big Disappointment.. think his Cheltenham days are over.. at least Annie Power didn't win.

£55 for the last day... gone for the full race card.. not bothering with double's, trebles or acc's.. cant be arsed..  won around £150 profit over this week even if none of these nags come in today.. (that's paid for a trip to the bridge for last home game of the season.. win anything today, said I'd buy my missus tickets for a broadway show when we are in NY later this year)

1:30 Guitar Pete - 8/1 (£5 EW)
2:05 Cheltenian - 8/1 (£5 EW)
2:40 Kings Palace - 10/3 (£7.50)
3:20 Bobs Worth - 7/2 (£10)
4:00 Oscar Delta - 9/1 (£2 EW)
4:40 Vieux Lion Rouge - 15/2 (£5 EW)
5:15 Tanks For That - 12/1 (£1.50 EW)

Ahh its cool, I like the theatre.. well a few musicals anyway...it'd be part of her birfday present anyway as its not cheap!  Besides I have managed to convince her to go to a baseball game and do a tour of Madison Square Gardens out there.. so the cool stuff balances itself out with the mildly gay stuff  ;)

Guitar Pete finished 3rd.. pissed off because it was a toss-up between him and the winner Tiger Roll at 10/1.. looks like Ruby has broke his wrist in that race..  :-\  Luckily he's not riding on any of the horses I've already backed later on... Paddy Power had money back on 2nd/3rd in that race though.. so should get my E/W bet winnings plus my £5 win stake back on him..  Yep.. £15 for 1/4 EW odds plus £5 = £10 profit first race.

Ruby gone to hospital.. and as I predicted after the race yesterday, they retired Big Bucks.. wasn't a surprise.. not the horse he was.

Bugger Cheltenian was at the front with 1 jump to go and pulled up.. his price came in loads and he went off as a heavy favourite so there will be loads of annoyed punters.. still think I'll get a winner today... but annoyed I didn't go with Tiger Roll in the 1st race

Bit of a delay to the 2:40 race as a horse smashed into the railings on the run up and chucked his jockey off.. who looks really badly injured..  :-\

Another loser.. bloody Kings Palace led from the start.. but tired before the last fence and fell back to 5th.. then fell on the last fence anyway.. grrr... if Bobs Worth or Vieux Lion Rouge comes in I'll be in profit for the day.. so not a disaster just yet.

Bobs Worth finished 5th.. now I've got a feeling its not gonna be my day lol

Yep.. he was also riding the favourite in the first race and his irons broke near the end of the race and he came nowhere.

Not the only one having a bad day.. 2 left to run.. got a good chance with Vieux Lion Rouge though I think.

Lol.. think Vieux Lion Rouge finished right near the back.. bollocks.. lost about £35 today.. would of been alright if I'd of had that first race winner.

Grand National today folks... I love this weekend!

Anyway.. I won't have a lot of time to pour over the stats and statistics this year (as usual).. had a quite poke around this morning and came up with these three beauties :

Big Shu @ 20/1 - £10 E/W
Mountainous @ 40/1 £8.26 E/W
Double Seven @ 14/1 £7.50 E/W

Get yer money down!

The wife and kids and I have picked out a few names. No idea of the form, but they're all around 25/1 - 33/1. Will put a few quid on each of them e/w later today.
Big Shu
The Rainbow Hunter
Mr Moonshine
Shakalakaboomboom

Edit: odds were a little shorter than expected. BS 22/1, RH 25/1, MM 28/1, S 25/1.
£2.50 e/w on each.

Anyone know what the William Hill maximum payout is..? Kevin downstairs has put another mental bet on, 12 match accumulator with both teams to score in the first half for 25p. The thing at the bottom of his betting slip says it's going to pay £246,000,000 subject to maximum payout conditions.

They can't pay that much though, they'd go bankrupt lol ;D

I can't remember anyone getting more than a million out of the bookies unless my memory is failing me..?

One of my ex landlords ended up winning over £500,000 on a football accumulator in 1993. Ended up ripping him off for the rent because the bloke was a shithead that had me and a couple of flat mates living in a deathtrap :o

Cheltenham starts tomorrow!!  ;D ;D

Love a bit of jump racing.. hoping to see some bookies pull out some quality offers.

WillHill have got a no lose offer on the Supreme Novices Chase tomorrow for new and existing customers.
Money back as a free bet (up to £25) if your win/ew bet doesn't come in.

Think I'll be going for a score on Douvan on this one..

Will be looking for sign-up bonuses for the bookies I'm not signed up with yet.. BetVictor, 365, Betfair are a couple.. so if you know of any good offers for these harv, let me know.

Boyle Sports got an free bet special if Un De Sceaux doesn't win the Arkle..

Personally I cant see anyone beating him.. so a big bet to lump on that with a free-bet coming back if the worst happens..

Just signed up to BetFair.. Bet £10 get 3x £10 Free Bets.. not bad.. especially since you can have odds from 1/5 upwards.

Not sure about offers these days because online gambling has now been regulated in the UK, a great deal of sites operate from Malta for some reason, at least they did a couple of years ago. I'm going to give my Mum some cash in May or June to do some Bonus Bagging for me.

I've told her how easy it is but she's not confident enough to do it at the moment so will fund it for her so that she's not risking anything lol. ;D I've told her it's literally risk free but she can't get her head around it, so probably better if she can see it in action first-hand. 8)

First big bookie bonanza of the day.

Un De Sceaux at Evens with Coral.. from 8:30 today..  max bet - £20.  Too good to turn down.. I've got £19 on my coral account from yesterday nights footy bets.. so I'm having £19 at evens - sorted.

Douvan and Un De Sceaux will be my bankers of the day.
Also got £5 E/W on Hurricane Fly (free bet).. at 9/1 I was playing the odds a bit.  Mullins seems to think he's got a chance even if the bookies don't.

Got a few more little bets to place later today.. unsure if I will do the whole race-card today though... too many races I could pick 3 or 4 winners from.

Fuck it... gone with

1:30 Douvan  - Result 1st - Douvan, 2nd - Shaneshill, 3rd - Sizing John
Nice!!  I backed him at 6/4 but WillHill paid out at best odds - he went out to 2/1.
£25 returns £50 profit

2:05 Un De Sceaux Result 1st - Un De Sceaux, 2nd - God's Own, 3rd - Josses Hill
Yes!  Hope I'm not going to regret not backing that accu...
Had £29 on different odds.. returned £26.27 in profit

2:40 Ned Stark Result 1st - The Druids Nephew, 2nd - Grand Jesture, 3rd - Gallant Oscar, 4th - Indian Castle
I picked out Druids Nephew and Ned Stark yesterday.. picked the wrong one, oh well.
£0 loss because it was a free bet.

3:20 Faugheen, Hurricane Fly Result 1st - Faugheen 2nd - Artic Fire, 3rd - Hurricane Fly
Well good news because I had Faugheen to win and Hurricane Fly e/w.. but FUCK.. only Annie Power to win that 17/1 accu that I turned my nose up at
£3.20 profit for Faugheen and £11.25 for Hurricane Fly

4:00 Glenns Melody Result 1st - Glenns Melody, 2nd - Polly Peachum, 3rd - BitofaPuzzle
Cant believe it.. I cant believe it.. Annie Power, miles in the lead and fell at the last fence!!  I feel really bad because I told my mate to stick a score on Annie Power earlier.. lol.. and I had Glenns Melody.. I think he hates me now lololol.
£2 e/w bet @ 6/1 returned £15 profit

4:40 Sego Success Result 1st - Cause of Causes, 2nd - Broadway Buffalo, 3rd - The Job Is Right, 4th - Perfect Gentleman
Didn't watch this but just caught the last furlong or so, Sego Success finished 5th.. just outside the places.. bugger!
£0 loss - free bet.

5:15 Stellar Notion Result 1st - Irish Cavalier, 2nd - Thomas Crapper, 3rd - Generous Ransom, 4th - Horizontal Speed
Stellar Notion was at the front for a while but fell away 3-4 fences from the last and came nowhere lol.
£0 loss - free bet.

earlier... I was tempted to put a cheeky bet on Douvan/Un De Sceaux/Faugheen/Annie Power.. 17/1 - Ruby riding all 4 Mullins horses.. apparently a lot of punters have got this accumulator today.. I cant see it though.. not all 4...

Cant believe this.. the bookies really escaped this today.. it would of been epic!!

Total Profit - £105.72 - not bad  ;D
Title: Re: The Gee Gees

The dreaded Day 2... I never do as well as on Day 1..

So I've done the full race-card again, but held back on most of them... potential max loss of £32 today.

1:30 Windsor Park Result 1st - Windsor Park, 2nd - Parlour Games, 3rd - Nichols Canyon
Good as any start I guess!!  Was a good race and could of gone to any of the front runners, hopefully this is a sign of a decent day to come!
£1 e/w @ 5/1 = £6.25 Profit

2:05 Don Poli Result 1st - Don Poli, 2nd - Southfield Theatre, 3rd -Wounded Warrior
YES.. Phew.. I wasn't convinced by Don Poli's jumping and on 2nd last fence he made a horrible jump, but he had the stamina to get back in front and away from the pack and won by 6 lengths in the end...
£18 win @ different odds = £32 Profit

2:40 Goodwood Mirage, Zabana Result 1st - Aux Ptits Song, 2nd - Zabana,  3rd - Activial, 4th- Taglietelle, 5th - Volnay De Thaix
Bugger.. Zabana.. so close to winning.. beaten by a neck!!  Great finish though!  Had a cracking day so far.. just hope it holds out to the next race!
£2 loss on Goodwood Mirage but £1 ew @ 20/1 on Zabana = £5.25 - so £3.25 profit.

3:20 Sprinter Sacre Result 1st - Dodging Bullets, 2nd- Somersby, 3rd - Special Tiara
Bugger... my dad told me to go Dodging Bullets.. but Sprinter was such a good horse in the day.. no idea where it finished.  Edit: Found out later, he pulled up at the last fence.. I couldn't watch all of this one unfortunately and the feed was a bit dodgy too.
£10 loss.

4:00 Sire Collonges Result 1st - Rivage D'or, 2nd - Any Currency, 3rd - Uncle Junior, 4th - Dogora
Decided to leave work without this race finishing so no idea what happened.
£2 loss.

4:40 Starchitect Result 1st - Qualando, 2nd - Bouvreuil, 3rd - The Saint James, 4th - Starchitect
Again didn't watch it, so no idea what happened, but bagged a place!
£1 e/w @ 22/1 - returned £4.50 profit.

5:15 Moon Racer Result 1st - Moon Racer, 2nd - Modus, 3rd - Wait For Me, 4th - Yanworth
Got a really bad start... never really recovered... until the end!!  It came from absolutely nowhere and won by a good few lengths.. wasn't expecting anything after that start... the price came in to 9/2 but I got it at 7/1 :D
£1 e/w @ 7/1 - returned £8.75 profit

Happy with today, Sprinter was a bit of a risk, but cant complain at 3 winners, a 2nd and a 4th.. typical that I held back on most of the bets today lol.

Profit Today = £42.75
Total Profit = £148.47

Haha cheers bud.. I only bet on Cheltenham and the National each year.. Cheltenham fever is so good though.. I'm loving it.. I didn't win as much yesterday as I have in previous years but it was probably the most gripping and exciting day of racing I've seen for a long while.. if only Annie Power had made it.. the bookies would of had their heaviest loss in history!!

I'm going to try and go next year I think, the 1st day is always the best.. but the Gold Cup on the final day is pretty epic too.

I've got a few long shots in there...so I might not win many today... if Don Poli comes in I'll break even.. he's the heavy favourite so I am expecting him to win.  If Sprinter comes in later (regardless of other results) - then I'm quids in for the day!

Coral gave faller insurance on Annie Power yesterday, so my mate got a £20 free bet back.. I told him to stick it on Sprinter today lol.. I'll be avoiding him if Sprinter comes nowhere!

Day 3.

Probably has the most wide open races of the festival I reckon.. I could easily pick 3 or 4 winners in nearly every race...  :-\

Again, done the full race-card but held back on pretty much all of them today and gone e/w on them all too.. potential £28 loss today - gearing up for tomorrow which looks much better.  Although saying that if Valseur Lido and Hidden Cyclone both win, I'll be very happy today!

1:30 Valseur Lido Result 1st - Vautour, 2nd - Apache Stronghold, 3rd - Valseur Lido
Dammit, I knew I should of backed Vautour.. could of got 3/1 this morning too and he went off at 13/8!!  He absolutely cained everyone else, jumped brilliantly and won by about 15 lengths - a star in the making for sure.
£5 e/w @ 9/2 returns £10.62 = £0.62 Profit.  (+ £5 free bet from Paddy Power.. wasn't aware they had an offer on!)

2:05 Edeymi, Unique De Cotte Result 1st - Call The Cops, 2nd - Unique De Cotte, 3rd - The Tourard Man, 4th - Henryville, 5th - Aqalim
So friggin close again.. thought he had it prior to the last fence but Call The Cops just held him off.  Edeymi came nowhere.. fucked up the first fence apparently.
£1 e/w on Edeymi = £2 loss
£1 e/w on Unique De Cotte = £3 profit
Profit = £1  ;D

2:40 Hidden Cyclone Result 1st - Uxizandre, 2nd - Ma Filleule, 3rd - Don Cossack
2nd most of the race.. just didn't have enough in the tank at the end and tailed off before the last fence..  Really fast pace to the race, McCoy had a great race and glad he's had one winner.  Mine finished 6th in the end..
£0 loss - free bet.

3:20 Un Temps Pour Tout, Whisper Result 1st - Cole Harden, 2nd - Saphir Du Rheu, 3rd - Zarkander
Another horse that led ALL the way!! Bollocks, both of mine finished 4th and 5th, both had a good chance but just couldn't keep up with the 3 front runners.
£2 loss on Un Temps Pour Tout
£0 loss on Whisper - Free Bet

4:00 Un Ace, Rawnaq Result 1st - Darna, 2nd - Monetaire, 3rd - Rawnaq, 4th - Buywise
Didn't watch it, but Rawnaq got a place!  Am I gonna get a winner today ? :(
£2 loss on Un Ace
£5.25 profit on Rawnaq
£3.25 profit.

4:40 The Package, Garrahalish Result 1st - The Package, 2nd - Bless The Wings, 3rd - Buddy Bolero, 4th - Grand Vision
Bugger.. Garrahalish got bought down with a couple of fences to go.. in a good position too.  Then about 3 or 4 front running horses fell on the 4th from last fence.. and The Package stepped up to take the lead and won by about 5-7 lengths!! Woop Woop!
£1 e/w @ 12/1 = £15 profit!

Been a frustrating day of nearly nearlys... a 2nd, two 3rds, a 4th, a 5th and a 6th.. just glad it ended with a winner and an overall profit!

Profit = £17.87
Total Profit = £166.34

Will try and be sensible tomorrow.. but cant promise anything, there will be a big blowout bet somewhere, hehehe.

Day 4 -

Ok here we go.. joined two new bookies today and got some good free bets going today.. wagered £80 of the profit I've made so far.. so whatever happens I'll end up with £86 total profit across the 4 days.. but fingers crossed today as I could well net a nice return..  I have been a bit cautious by chickening out on the win bets.. they are all each way again today.. but there is a £50 bet in there somewhere ;)

1:30: Hargem Result 1st - Peace And Co, 2nd - Top Notch, 3rd - Hargem
Ooooh close!!  Was a very exciting race.. but the favourite just had it..
£12.50 e/w @ 13/2 = £7.81 profit.

2:05: Quick Jack, Modem Result 1st - Wicklow Brave, 2nd - Sort it Out , 3rd - Quick Jack, 4th - Max Dynamite, 5th - Analifet
Thought for a sec, my 18/1 Modem was going to come in there.. but he just fell behind just before the last fence!!  Wicklow Brave just outshot every other horse and won by a street in the end - he was 25/1 !!  Quick Jack came 3rd as least!
£10 loss on Modem-
£5 e/w on Quick Jack @ 6/1 returns £2.50 profit

2:40: No More Heroes Result 1st - Martello Tower, 2nd - Milsean, 3rd - No More Heroes
Bastard!!!! My horse got blocked off in 3rd when trying to overtake the two leaders!!  He couldn't catch them up in the end because of that!

£50 equals my biggest ever bet.
I can't remember if it was £50 on the nose, or £25 each way. Was about 15 years ago, at the Grand National. I'd lost on the first five/six races in a row, starting at £5 on the first race, and gradually increasing my bets as the day went on, chasing that big win, and had fifty quid on the final race.

It came nowhere.
I was about £120-£130 down for the day, and that was just the bets.
Still a good day, mind.

Hehe.. the £50 bet is a free bet.. so less risk.. I'm not stupid enough to bet £50 in real money on a horse.. oops  ;D

I think £50 would be my biggest bet too.. it was on a Chelsea match I went to see a few years ago and it came in... didn't get much back from it though.  I had £20 on Chelsea to win 3-0 against Wolves on my 30th birthday 3 years ago... whilst wearing the number 30 on my shirt... that managed to come in.. think that's been my biggest return ever... it was only a couple of hundred  :o

...although that could be eclipsed today  ;D

My biggest win was on an England match.
I can't remember the exact details, but I'd gone for a scorecast (correct score combined with correct first goalscorer). I'd put £2 on the opposition striker to score first but England to win 3-1, and it came in at 125/1. I think we were playing Slovenia or Slovakia. Was about 10-12 years ago.
It was hard to hide the elation I felt when England went behind, and I felt a bit of a traitor, but you can be bloody sure I was cheering England on more than anyone else in the pub for the rest of that match.

Have been close to much bigger wins in the past, losing out thanks to my always backing Boro. I used to pick out 8 teams to win, and cover the 6-folds and 7-folds as well as the 8-fold.
On three or four occasions I collected on 6-folds, bringing in around £40-£60 each time. If one of the other matches had come in it would've been around £400-£700, and if all eight came in it would've been about £5k-£8k (differed from bet to bet depending on the odds of each match of course). On every one of those occasions the Boro let me down - including throwing away a lead against ten men.

It's always a love/hate relationship with your team, though.
I remember once I was at the Riverside watching Boro play when we had Gazza playing for us. Brian Deane had scored the first goal for us, and we were 4-1 up, with a couple of minutes to go, and we got a free-kick about 30 yards out. I had £1 on Deane and 4-1, at 125/1.
Gazza scored a wonder-goal from that free kick. Everyone in the stadium was jumping for joy. I appreciated how fantastic it was, and I loved that we won 5-1, but I was gutted that the git had cost me £125! =))

Well I've already been down the pub, celebrating my winnings..

Getting an indian in tonight.. with a few beers and gonna sit in my pants and watch Comic Relief.. oooh I live the high life!

Actually going to spend the winnings on a new phone.. my one is totally up the duff at the moment.. battery dies all the time, and its a piece of shit!

Proper chuffed at the week I've had.. I had a fairly decent return for the past 2 years.. but this year has just eclipsed everything that has gone before.. I'm a bit annoyed about On The Fringe and the fact I didn't go with the nifty on Coneygree but I cant complain.  The £171 I won on Killultagh is probably my 2nd highest win now.. beating the £170 I won on Auroras Encore on the national.. but I know I bagged over £200 on that 3-0 Chelsea score a few years back.

Looking forward to the National now... it could be my year again!

Kevin downstairs usually puts a £1 bet on a number of matches (he did 8 this week) on both sides to score. He normally does it with William Hill but for some reason he did it with Ladbrokes today. For some reason he managed to do all home wins too by mistake, think the form is different and he missed something lol. If he did that bet he normally does with William Hill he would have got £150 back :o

He's quite calm about it, I'd be banging my head against the wall myself lmfao ;D

With the full clip, you can see the horse veers to the left, then to the right.. and comes over the fence at a weird angle.. I think it unsettled the jockey - who is quite young anyway, and whilst it does look like he jumps off, I think it was a genuine slip... although he was 4/9 favourite and loads of people are claiming the race was fixed lol  ;D  Just doesn't get old though, its feckin hilarious.

Been scoping out a lot of the horses already for the national.. I think the final cut is being done tomorrow but a lot of horses are already confirmed.

IMHO - there are a lot of decent choices this year... I wouldn't back the favourite though.. It would be utterly amazing if McCoy won it.. but the odds are totally gimped because he is riding it.

Will post the full list of horses later this week plus my tips and own selections.. with my blistering form at Cheltenham, you'd be stupid not to follow them LOL  ;D ;D

 ;D ;D ;D you're gonna make a mint  8)

So the final declaration of 40 horses ( + 4 reserved) will be made at 10am today.. and non-runners should be declared by Friday at 9am.. and can be replaced with a reserved horse.  So little point making a list until tomorrow when the runners and riders are 100% confirmed.

Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: jman on April 09, 2015, 01:14:10 PM
Actually I'll just change this list tomorrow if there are any non-runners declared..... I'll keep this post updated when I get the chance to look at the whole field

So just some of my base criteria I'll be using..

The horse has to be between the ages of 8-12 years old.. any horse below or above that age range is not getting considered based on that fact alone.  Looking at the past winners of the national, there's clear dominance from 9-11 year olds, less so from 8 and 12 year olds and pretty much nothing from anything else in the past 50 odd years.

The horse cant be handicapped past 11-06.  Looking at the past 20 years, there have only been 3 winners weighing above 11-00 - and nothing past 11-06  (except Red Rum) has won the national in the past 50 odd years.

Anyway, list of runners and riders :

1. Lord Windermere
LORD WIN-NO-MORE - Heaviest weight at 11-10 - so outside of base criteria

2. Many Clouds
MANY DOUBTS - Handicapped at 11-09 - so outside of base criteria

3. Unioniste
TOO YOUNG - 7 years old - so outside of base criteria

4. Rocky Creek
A ROCKY GOOD CHANCE - Right age, right weight.. got round in 5th last year so can stay the distance, not raced much since mind, but raced well to win in February in the Betbright Chase at Kempton.  Definitely has a chance, although odds are not that nice

5. First Lieutenant
POOR CHANCE - Looks like he peaked about 3-4 years ago.. has not won a race for 2 years, (11 races) and he has also never run more than 26f so that extra mile is going to be a real stamina test.  Would be a first for a female jockey to win the national too.

6. Balthazar King
KING CONTENDER - A big beast of a horse that excels at long distances and finished 2nd in last years national... although he has only raced once since then, he does have 6 wins in his last 10 races.  Definite contender this year again

7. Shutthefrontdoor
FAIRY TALE - Don't believe the hype, this horse winning would be more of a fairy tale than anything else.  It has one of the all-time best jockeys riding on it who will be doing everything to win, this is why the odds are so short.  The horse is not bad, and has a chance...but I feel he is still too young at 8 years old and lacks the experience - he wouldn't be a bad each way shout - but with the odds, its pointless.

8. Pineau De Re
PAST WINNER - No-one has won it consecutively since Red Rum and Pineau is now 12 years old  - so outside of base criteria

9. Ballycasey
NO CHANCE - Was 100/1 before Ruby confirmed he was onboard.. that says it all, the horse has patchy form, doesn't seem to like the step up in class and has never gone a longer distance than 25f.  Pulled up in Cheltenham in his last race, but he does go off with a fairly hefty drop in weight, cant see it myself.

10. Spring Heeled
OUTSIDER - Patchy form recently, seems to win and place frequently and has plenty of experience, although nothing at this type of distance.  No course experience, but seems to like good ground, there are pro's and con's for this horse and if things go right, could be in the mix at the end - with good odds, it could be worth a punt with an E/W bet.

11. Rebel Rebellion
STAMINA CONCERN - Raced plenty this season with lots of wins and places and in really good form.  The right age and weight, has a decent trainer - you'd think this horse would have short odds, but he doesn't have the distance experience and stamina is a massive concern.  Has only ran 3m twice, once he was beaten by Soll, the other - he came nowhere, so big doubts on whether he will actually make it round, and if he does, he probably won't be in the mix

12. Dolatulo
LONG DISTANCE A DOUBT - Another horse that just doesn't have the winning experience at lengthy distances.  Has  won one race at 3m.. but in his other 4 outings at that distance has come absolutely nowhere.  Is only a young horse still at 8 years old and has raced plenty, but he seems to excel at shorter distances.

13. Mon Parrain
PATCHY FORM - Very patchy form, out of his 11 races so far, he has won 3 and placed in 2 - so probably can't be relied upon to do anything.  The good news is that he only races in 3m+ distances so he has that experience and he has a fair weight for this outing.

14. Carlito Brigante - NON RUNNER
OUTSIDE CHANCE - Has raced plenty and seems to love the jumps, has placed and won numerous time over 3m+ so I don't think his stamina would be an issue and seems to be coming into a nice vein of form in the last year or so since moving stables.  Would be a decent E/W bet.

15. Night In Milan
OUTSIDE CHANCE - Has raced plenty, form is ok, hasn't won for a year but has placed quite a few times, has raced plenty of times over 3m.. good age, good weight, ticks nearly all the boxes, if he runs right and stays over the fences then he has a chance to be in the mix.

16. Rubi Light
NO CHANCE - Never won on good ground and only raced 2 times out of his 39 at distances of 3m+ so I doubt he has the stamina to even complete this race.

17. The Druids Nephew
HAS A CHANCE - Odds shortened a lot when he won at Cheltenham last month.. he won by a canter, but it was the defining race of his career so far so the big question is, was that race a one-off or can he reproduce that magic again.  He seems to of improved a lot since moving stables less than a year ago, so his form suggests he can and with the same weight as he had at Cheltenham - he definitely has a chance here too.

18. Cause of Causes
TOO YOUNG - 7 years old - so outside of base criteria

19. Godsmejudge
GOOD BET - Has gone the distance in the Scottish grand national at last two attempts finishing 2nd and 1st, but form since then has not been great, although he was carrying much heigher weight then.  Weighed fairly, can go the distance, has won big races before, is the right age.. he has a great chance!

20. Al Co
UNDECIDED - This one is tough to write off, he is used to long distances so I have no doubt about his stamina, but last time at Aintree he pulled up and hasn't been seen here for over 3 years since.  Beat Godsmejudge in the Scottish national this year so he has some quality, but then his form has been a bit patchy for a while - 10201-0P33.  Al Co will either drink everyone else under the table or struggle as he staggers to the finish line - I'm undecided.

21. Monbeg Dude
PROBABLY WON'T IMPROVE - Finished 7th in last years national and placed in 4 of his 5 races since, no doubts about his stamina, he should get round no problem - the problem is, he's not the most prolific horse in the race and hasn't actually won much in his time.  Hard to see how he is going to improve as he's on the same weight as last time.

22. Corrin Wood
POOR CHANCE - A horse that is used to running the long distances, but only raced 3 times since March '14.. and pulled up in his last race -  hasn't really won anything of note, beaten by other horses racing in the national too, he might get round the course, but cant see him winning it,

23. The Rainbow Hunter
UNRELIABLE - A good horse when he hits his stride, but pulls up and unseats his rider too much for my liking, he unseated his rider in the 2013 & 2014 national and in his only race this year he pulled up too.. think I'd rather back a horse who I think has more potential to get round

24. Saint Are
OUTSIDER - Finished 9th in 2013 and fell last year, since then in his 4 races after a change of stables, he has produced three 3rds and a win.  Prior to this, he hasn't actually won much, so if the change of stables is helping bring this horse to his peak, then he has a great chance.

25. Across the Bay
NO CHANCE - Remember that horse that got hampered last year by the loose one... yep Across the Bay was the one hampered.  He's predominantly a front-running horse, so will want to lead the pack, and whilst he has a lot of experience with 3m+ he has just two wins and zero places in the last 2 years.  I find it hard to pick the quality out in this horse and feel he will struggle to make any impact.

26. Tranquil Sea
TOO OLD - 13 years old - so outside of base criteria

27. Oscar Time
ANCIENT - 14 years old!! - so outside of base criteria

28. Bob Ford
UNRELIABLE - Has pulled up in half of his last 10 outings, saying that, he also won 3 and placed in another.  Most of them being at 3m+ so he has the experience of running long distances, Quite obvious that the horse prefers Soft-Heavy ground though and very doubtful he will get that this year.

29. Super Duty
TOO MUCH TO ASK - Has a very impressive 33% win ratio in his 15 races so far, and 2nd in a further 6 of those races... however, all of them came at the start of his career a few years earlier at a different stables.  Didn't race at all in 2014 due to an injury and on his two outings this year - didn't really impress.  Hasn't gone more than 26f before.. and combine this with him just coming back from injury, it is probably too much to ask for at this stage.

30. Wyck Hill
HAS THE STAMINA - Raced frequently over 3m+ with a few 4milers in there, never run the national before though.  If he has a good day at the office, then I wouldn't rule him out winning this as he is a big strong horse...however he has had quite a few disappointing races in his career too.

31. Gas Line Boy
QUESTIONABLE JUMPING - Having pulled up or unseated his rider in 3 of his last 6 races, his jumping is a bit questionable.  However, when he gets it right, he gets it right, finishing 1st twice and a 4th in the other 3 races.  Has run up to 29f in his previous 3 races, so stamina shouldn't be too much of an issue, but would probably prefer softer ground. Wouldn't rule him out completely, but there are more reliable options out there.

32. Chance Du Roy
HAS A CHANCE - Finished 6th last time out in the national and has run 2 races since, but didn't really impress, finishing 5th in both.  Has plenty of course and distance experience, so shouldn't have too many problems getting round and a small drop in weight might help things, like his namesake, he has a chance.

33. Portrait King
NOT A PRETTY PICTURE - A solid horse a few years ago, but raced once in 2013 and pulled up in that, didn't really do much in 2014 either, but 2 wins, a 2nd and a 9th in his last 4 races shows that he might be coming back to his best, however he has only won once on good ground.  Has plenty of distance experience although he has never run at Aintree before, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it round, but IMO he's not a contender to be king of the festival.

34. Owega Star
NO CHANCE - Only run once out of Ireland, so no course experience, no distance experience either with his longest race being 24f.  Much more suited to a 2m trek, didn't have a brilliant season, apart from a good weight, its tough to make a good case for him to be the star!

35. River Choice
NO CHANCE - French bred and French trained - not a good combination for the national for a start.. also used to much shorter races so stamina could be a real concern, also getting on a bit at the age of 12.  Don't bother.

36. Court By Surprise
COULD SPRING A SURPISE - Hasn't really done much for the past couple of seasons, and hasn't really crept out of the 3m zone for races.  So its unsure whether he has the stamina to complete this race, but he is coming into the national from the best form of his career with back-to-back victories.  Hasn't run for a while, as he is being saved for this race.  Whilst there are possible concerns, he could surprise everyone.

37. Alvarado
E/W ONLY - Jockey has placed in the last 6 nationals!! An incredible record, the horse has a low weight and is the right age.. finished 4th in last years national, has lots of stamina, but just doesn't get round too quickly.. a decent E/W shout.

38. Soll
A SOLID CONTENDER - Finished 7th in the 2013 national after tiring towards the end of the race.  Since then, he didn't really do much, but changed stables for this season and won and impressed on both of the races he has raced in.  Has course and distance experience and has a very low weight for this (albeit slightly more than 2013) and is expected to improve on his last national outing.

39. Ely Brown
INEXPERIENCED JUMPER - Has only run 4 times over fences and the last time was over a year ago.  lso been out injured for the best part of 2014, came back at the start of 2015 and pulled up - that was his last race.  Hasn't raced much over 3m either, so stamina could be an issue.  Too many negatives to be able to recommend this horse.

40. Royale Knight
A ROYALLY GOOD OUTSIDER - A switch of stables back in 2012 and this horse has been improving ever since.  Only predominantly racing in class 3/4 races but has got some good form behind him.  Only pulled up once, has the lowest weight and has gone the distance several times before.  The big question will be as to whether he will be able to keep up with the big boys and land a consecutive national trophy for his trainer.

You've had some good results, lately, but it seems you've just bet fifty-eight quid on a lottery!

Appreciate your tips/thoughts on the runners, mate :D
I usually pick two horses myself and have the wife and kids pick one each, so five horses (usually about £15 staked in total) but I don't think I've collected a single penny in the last five years or so. Mind you, we mainly just go with horse names that strike a chord.

Wyck Hill bet was a free bet, the actual money for that bet was done on the football instead.  It should offset all losses if it comes in,  but I only bet what I can afford to lose.  Plus my horses can't lose anyway  ;D

Will be at the Riverside watching us put four past Rotherham without reply, so I'll miss the race, but I've put a fiver each way on Al Co (28/1 but odds trebled for first bet with new account).

The wife and kids are all out so I've only bet on the one horse this year.

1st Many Clouds
2nd Saint Are
3rd Monbeg Dude
4th Alvarado
5th Shutthefrontdoor

Didn't see that winner coming!!  Late is going to be sick when he realises the jockey who won, was the same chap who won last year.. the guy who shares his namesake lol.  Al Co went at the 1st fence by the way.

I backed Saint Are this morning as my 4th and final bet, just £5 Ew,  just about covers my losses  :-\

Absolutely! I said last year I'd have bet on Leighton if I'd known there was one riding in the race. Completely forgot about that until this year, when I got a message from a mate asking if I'd bet on Leighton.
Give me a heads up if you see him racing next year! I never look at the jockeys.

Heh, to be honest, I ruled that horse out on his weight alone.. never thought a horse would get round with that much handicap.. plus he was poo at Cheltenham..  I initially thought that Leighton geezer would of picked up on his winner last time Pineau De Re..

I told some bloke at work to back Soll.. he forgot who I said and backed Saint Are instead because he remembered it began with an "S" lol

Less than 4 weeks until Cheltenham again... very excited after last years winfall.. bit disappointed that Faugheen has recently pulled out of the Champions Hurdle - he would of been a dead cert for me at the festival.

I'm thinking of changing up some of my bets this year, so instead of just placing Win and E/W bets - perhaps take a jump into the murky world of Trixies, Patents, Yankee's, Lucky 15's and the like.  ;D

I was thinking of taking a few days of work this year so I can concentrate more on my bets but with so much going on this year that's just not going to happen.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees
Post by: harv on February 19, 2016, 07:48:12 PM
Trixies mixed with a Treble, Doubles and Patents are great with 3 horses/teams. All you need is 2/3 to come in and you get your stake back. That's what I used to do with my football bets. If you bet on 3 favourites you tend to double your stake most bets, get your money back pretty often and don't lose a great deal. ;D

Less than a week to go!  Just looking back on how much I won last year at Cheltenham.. £492 profit.. started out with about £60-70 stake money... I've got £75 saved up for this years festival.. so will be aiming for more of the same!  :-\ ;D

SkyBet have got a cracking Cheltenham offer on.. Free Bet (upto £25) on the first race of each day if your horse loses.. so I'll definitely be going with them on the first races.

Already looking at the first two races -
I quite fancy Yorkhill at 9/2 for the first - this price could drop dramatically if Ruby is riding him - I don't think he's confirmed yet.
Douvan is a must for the 2nd race (Arkle)... but his odds are terrible at 2/5 - can't see anyone beating him..

Tried to do this last night - but dunno where my post went..

Day 1.

13:30 - Min - £7.50 EW @ 9/4
14:10 - Douvan - £10 Win @ 4/11
14:50 - Holywell - £5 EW @ 8/1, Southfield Theatre - £1 EW @ 18/1
15:30 - The New One - £1 EW @ 6/1
16:10 - Vroum Vroum Mag - £30 Win @ 1/1
16:50 - Southfield Royale - £2.50 EW @ 13/2, BallyChorus - £1 EW @ 9/1
17:30 - Double Shuffle - £1.50 EW @ 9/1, Bouvreuil - £1 EW @ 12/1

Current Profit -£81.00

Few of those bets have a safety free bet lying under them if they fail to win.. but really I just want Min and VVM to win today and I'm back in the black.  Chickened out of the Min/Douvan/Annie Power/VVM Willie Mullins acca that everyone is fapping about this year... think it works out at 25/1 - and the bookies are in for a hammering if it happens... just don't think its as solid as the one that narrowly got away last year

Day 1 Results:

13:30 - 1st Altior, 2nd Min, 3rd Beveur D'air
Bugger... Min well beaten in the end.. made a few mistakes.. but just wasn't good enough.  Least I didn't do that Acca lol.
Current Profit : -£69.28

14:10 - 1st Douvan, 2nd Sizing John, 3rd Fox Norton
Class apart - this one was nailed on.. 2 horses fell at 2nd from last.. both are fine.
Current Profit : -£55.64

14:50 - 1st Un Temps Pour Tout, 2nd Holywell, 3rd The Young Master,4th Morning Assembly
Bugger, Holywell in contention all race and ran a great race.. bloody loose horse got in his way near the end.. dunno if that made any difference.. but Un Temps just outstayed him... close!  Southfield Theatre got a terrible start and then was pulled down by another horse towards the end.
Current Profit : -£40.64

15:30 - 1st Annie Power, 2nd My Tent Or Yours, 3rd Nichols Canyon
Very undecided on this race hence a small bet... but Annie Power managed to do it.. with style too.  The New One was with the front runners but faded at the last fence.
Current Profit : -£40.64

16:10 - 1st Vroum Vroum Mag, 2nd Rock On The Moor, 3rd Legacy Gold
GET IN.. didn't see/listen to it.. but 2 and 3/4 lengths clear indicate that he won quite easily..
Current Profit : £20.64

16:50 - 1st Minella Rocco, 2nd Native River, 3rd Measureofmydreams
I believe Southfield Royale came 4th.. just outside the places.. bugger!  I accidently backed Ballychorus with faller insurance.. who did actually fall.. LOL.. hope the horse was ok.
Current Profit : £22.64

17:30 - 1st Ballyalton, 2nd Bouvreuil, 3rd Double Shuffle
Fuck sake.. more places... no winner on my outside bets today.
Current Profit : £32.02

End of Day
Current Profit : £32.02 + £46.69 in Free Bets... (although I should also have another £45 in free bets added soon).  I'll take it!

Day 2 Selections

13:30 - Yanworth - £20 Win @ 11/8
14:10 - More Of That - £15 Win @ 7/4
14:50 - Politologue - £3.75 EW @ 8/1  (Free Bet)  Blazer - £2.44 EW @ 14/1
15:30 - Sprinter Sacre - £3.25 EW @ 5/1
16:10 - Josies Order - £28.19 Win @ 11/4 (Free Bet)
16:50 - Campeador - £2.50 EW @ 7/1 (Free Bet)  Coo Star Sivola - £0.50 EW @ 22/1 (Free Bet)
17:30 - First Figaro - £2.50 EW @ 14/1 (Free Bet)

Current Profit : -£14.36

Sticking mostly to favourites today - a win in the first two races and at 16:10 would be very welcome!
Also I think I'm due about £45 in free bets still... they said they would be credited within 72 hours.. so hopefully I'll have them for Friday.

Just heard 3 horses had to be put down from falling yesterday... terrible news  :(

Day 2 Results

13:30 - 1st Yorkhill, 2nd Yanworth, 3rd ItsAFreeBee
Fuck sake.. Ruby had a great line and race on Yorkhill and Yanworth just couldn't catch him - I knew I should of gone with Yorkhill.. picked him out for Day 1 but he was moved to this race.. and Yanworth caught my eye for this race too.
Current Profit : -£14.36

14:10 - 1st Blaklion, 2nd Shaneshill, 3rd More Of That
Bollocks... all going wrong so far.. didn't have the pace at the end.. should of known that the 2nd day is always a lot tougher
Current Profit : -£14.36

14:50 - 1st Diamond King, 2nd Long House Hall, 3rd Ubak, 4th Blazer
More shit... Politologue well beaten.. Blazer stayed on to the end and managed 4th - but well beaten.
Current Profit : -£3.38

15:30 - 1st Sprinter Sacre, 2nd Un De Sceaux, 3rd Special Tiara
SPRINTER!  Wow.. what a horse... the champ is back!  What an unbelievable amazing comeback... feel quite emotional for his team.. what a legend!  Plus finally my first win of the day!
Current Profit : £23.43

16:10 - 1st Any Currency, 2nd Josies Orders, 3rd Bless The Wings
Fuck sake.. just not my day today.. 2nd by a length - couldn't watch the race.. but my day is pretty much done (could make a few quid on the last two races) - but all the big bets have lost today - hmph.
Current Profit : £23:43

16:50 - 1st Diego Du Charmil, 2nd Romain De Senam, 3rd - Coo Star Sivola, 4th Missy Tata
Typical.. Campeador was joint first with Rubys horse on the last fence.. and both the horses fell at the same time... did mean Coo Star Sivola came in 3rd.. but woopeedoo.
Current Profit : £26.18

17:30 - 1st Ballyandy, 2nd Battleford, 3rd Bacardys, 4th - Castello Storza
Decided to go for a run and work off my frustration for the day.. so didn't watch this.. First Figaro finished 9th..
Current Profit : £26.18

Despite having one 1st, two 2nds and two thirds and one fourth - I still managed to lose money today..  :o ;D
That £45 free bet I was talking about yesterday transpired to be just a £20 free bet  >:( least I have it for tomorrow races.
Also £20 free bet from SkyBet from not winning the first race.

So I have £6 less profit.. and £6 less in free bets... which is not a major disaster...just hope I have a bit more luck in turning those places into winners tomorrow.

Edit: Actually forgot - I did my first Lucky 15 bet today - bet a whopping £3.60 EW involving Yanworth, Politologue, Josies Orders and Sprinter - actually returned £3.84 because 3 out of the 4 placed - so 24p extra to add!  Woop! lol.

Current Profit : £26.42 + (£40 in Free Bets)

I'm not betting, but I'm enjoying reading the updates. Fingers crossed for tomorrow

Day 3 Selections

13:30 - Black Hercules - £10 EW @ 9/2
14:10 - Our Kaempfer - £10 EW @ 8/1 (Free Bet), Arpege Dalene - £1.50 EW @ 16/1
14:50 - Vautour (Double Bet with Limini) -  £20 Win (Free Bet) @ 211/100, Dynaste - £2.50 EW @ 40/1
15:30 - Thistlecrack - £20 Win @ 6/5
16:10 - Art Mauresque - £5 EW @ 14/1
16:50 - Limini (Double Bet with Vautour) - £20 Win (Free Bet) @ 211/100, Tea In Travasaal - £2.50 EW @ 22/1

Special Bet :
Lucky 31 EW - Including : Black Hercules, Vautour, Limini, Thistlecrack, Art Mauresque : £4.96

Current Profit : -£43.58

Basically I just need either Black Hercules, Thistlecrack, Art Mauresque or my double to win today to ensure I'm back in the black for tomorrow.  Got £50 of free bets set-up for tomorrow.

Day 3 Results

13:30 - 1st Black Hercules, 2nd Bristol De Mai, 3rd L'Ami Serge
Excellent.. first race.. first winner of the day!  Was a great race to watch.. and it was neck to neck with Bristol at the last fence.. if Hercules hadn't of won, there would of been a big uproar though.. he was held up by about 2 horses and a loose horse during the race.  Saying that.. the jockey on Zabana wasn't ready at the start.. and fell off when the horse started running..so bit of controversy there - think most of the bookies are refunding.  Ruby's 50th festival winner though.. what a legend.
Current Profit : £32.67

14:10 - 1st Mall Dini, 2nd Arpege D'Alene, 3rd If In Doubt, 4th Taglitelle
Wow.. close race!  Very exciting to watch.. Arpgene just couldn't make it but fair play to Mall Dini.  Our Kaempfer was 3rd last for most of the race.. and did make up some ground and managed to finish 5th.. which was actually good enough for a payout for me because SkyBet were paying 5 places!  Today is looking much better than yesterday already!
Current Profit :  £62.67

14:50 - 1st Vautour, 2nd Valseur Lido, 3rd Road To Riches
Couldn't watch this but Vautour was a no-brainer really... didn't hear what happened to Dynaste.  Least it helps my Lucky 31 + Double Bet
Current Profit : £62.67

15:30 - 1st Thistlecrack, 2nd Alpha Des Obeaux, 3rd Bobs Worth
Wow, what a horse.. Thistlecrack ran amazingly.. absolutely smashed it... Won by about 6 lengths.. and then 20 lengths to 3rd lol
Current Profit : £106.67

16:10 - 1st Empire of Dirt, 2nd Tango De Juilley, 3rd Kings Palace, 4th Full Shift
Stayed at work to watch this one.. shouldn't of bothered.. quite clear a quarter of the way round that Art Mauresque had no fucking chance lol.. think it pulled up a few from the end..was never really in contention.  Shame because this could of made my Lucky 31 a real prospect - biggest let down of the day so far.
Current Profit : £106.67

16:50 - 1st Limini, 2nd  Dusky Legend, 3rd Bloody Legend
Limini cruised it from the last 2... Tea In Transvaal was winning for most of the race... just couldn't keep up the pace with the others which was a shame as there was a potential for a place there.. think she finished 5th in the end.. Dusky Legend was a 50/1 shot!  Edit : Tea In Transvaal finished 7th.. oh well, was worth a shot.
Current Profit : £148.95

17:30 - 1st Cause of Causes, 2nd A Good Skin, 3rd Silvergrove, 4th Knock House
Doctor Harper smashed into the first fence, think it put him off for the rest of the race as he was racing at the back for pretty much all of it - he made a surge but just didn't have it.. The Giant Bolster didn't do much either.  Cause of Causes was riding with Doctor Harper at the end and then just absolutely smashed through the field and obliterated the rest
Current Profit : £148.95

Lucky 15 won me £19.38 - not a bad return on such a small stake.. but if Art Mauresque would of just placed I reckon we'd be talking over £100 profit there.. a win would of made £300  :o  ;D  :'(

End of Day Total Profit : £168.33 + confirmed £40 in free bets + unconfirmed £10 free bet.
That's more like it!  However can't rest on my laurels.. its been a great day and whatever I bet tomorrow - I'll make sure I've made something over the 4 days.
Title: Re: The Gee Gees

So give or take a few quid.. I'm pretty much exactly at the same profit level I was last year... and then I went and won £330 odd quid on the last day.. fingers crossed the same happens this time lol!

Day 4 Selections

13:30 - Ivanovich Gorbatov £12.50 EW @ 6/1
14:10 - Blue Hell £5 EW @ 10/1, John Constable £1.98 EW @ 12/1
14:50 - Shantou Village £12.50 EW @ 4/1
15:30 - Djakadam £20 Win @ 11/4 (Free Bet) + £10 EW @ 3/1 + £10 Win @ 9/2
16:10 - Paint The Clouds £10 Win @ 6/1 (Free Bet), It Came To Pass £2.5 EW @ 11/1
16:50 - Squouateur £5 EW @ 4/1, Nabucco £5 EW @ 25/1 (Free Bet)*
17:30 - Rock The World £6.74 EW @ 10/1 + £5 EW @ 15/2 (Free Bet), Velvet Maker £2.50 EW @ 11/1

Lucky 15 EW Bet:
Incl. Ivanovich Gorbatov, Shantou Village, Djakadam, Paint The Clouds
Total Stake : £6.  Potential Return : £325.89

Current Profit : £30.89
So Djakadam to win the Gold Cup would get me back up to pre Day 4 profit.. got a free bet (up to £25) in the first race if I don't have a winner there.. might lump that on something later on too.  I doubt very much I'll hit the highs of last year but you never know how lucky my Lucky 15 will be!

*Fucked up the Nabucco bet.. didn't realise the free bet didn't cover the place part of EW's - so actually wasted £5 of the free bet and spent £5 of my own money placing this.. d'oh.

Day 4 Results

13:30 - 1st Ivanovich Gorbatov, 2nd Apple's Jade, 3rd Footpad
Yes, get in.. had to pick Ivanovich based on the name!  Actually came in from 6/1 to 4/1f so plenty of money went on him.  Was a great race though.. thought Apple's Jade had it as the horse went storming off with 2 to jump.. but was just reeled in by Ivanovich at the end.
Current Profit : £149.64

14:10 - 1st Superb Story, 2nd Fethard Player, 3rd Sternrubin, 4th Wait For Me
Good race.. great run by Superb Story and well deserved winner.. I think I heard both my horses names once or twice.. never in contention and well beaten!
Current Profit : £149.64

14:50 - 1st Unowhatimeanharry, 2nd - Fagan, 3rd Champers On Ice
Bloody missed half this race, got pulled away at work lol.  Very exciting race at the end though...anyone could of won lol.  Anyone except mine.. who disappointingly fell away towards the end and didn't finish.  That's messed up my Lucky 15 anyway.. gold cup next.. feeling a bit wary about my choice now lol.. cmon Djakadam!
Current Profit : £149.64

15:30 - 1st Don Cossack, 2nd Djakadam, 3rd Don Poli
Wow.. exciting race.. thought Cue Card had it won and then he fell at the 3rd last!!  Don Cossack made a horrible mistake as well.. so when that happened I thought Djakadam had it in the bag.. but Don Cossack rallied and fair play he won it with 3 or so lengths.  BUGGER... would of been £170 odd if he would of come in.. as it is.. just £17.50 back... oh well least it means I haven't lost much today if anything else and 3 races to go.. hopefully one of those comes in too so that the last day isn't a complete waste of time.
Current Profit : £167.14

16:10 - 1st On The Fringe, 2nd Marito, 3rd Paint The Clouds
Well I left work, but managed to listen to this on the way home.. sounded like a good race.. any of the front 4 being able to win it.  Victoria Pendleton came 5th.. fair play to her.. amazing feat.  She was 9th I think.. and a few of the horses fell.. so perhaps she got a bit fortunate with her placing of 5th.. but still, she was only evens to make it round.. and to finish 5th is amazing.  Knew I should of shunned the free bet to win and had Paint The Clouds each way.. it makes 3 of my 4 (in Lucky 15) come in anyway - so I won 70p from that overall lol.  It Came To Pass fell about 5 from the end.
Current Profit : £173.84

16:50 - 1st Ibis Du Rheu, 2nd Flying Angel, 3rd Sky Khan, 4th Tully East
Bloody hell, Squouateur came in heavily to 2/1  and did absolutely jack shit! 3rd and 4th were 50/1 shots! Nabucco was with the front runners for a while.. but ran out of steam at the last - frustrating - despite not losing any profit - this has been a fairly bad day with only one chance left to redeem it.
Current Profit : £173.84

17:30 - 1st Solar Impulse, 2nd Dandridge, 3rd Rock The World, 4th Savello
Bloody hell.. so unlucky because Solar Impulse absolutely cained it at the end.. good competitive race though, Velvet Maker was leading the pack for most of the race and obviously ran out of steam... Rock The World came in from 11/1 - 9/2.. thought I might have a winner at the end there which would of returned £140.. but it wasn't to be.. £32.99 back instead.
Current Profit : £206.83

Well it wasn't the best of days today.. without Ivanovich in the first race it would of been a minor disaster - but I made £40 today so it wasn't a complete waste of time... but overall, £200 for sitting on my arse, and enjoying a great festival of horse racing.. I cant really complain too much about that.   8)

Highlight of the festival without a doubt was Sprinter Sacre winning the Queen Mother Champion Chase - what an absolute legend.
