Champions League Last 16 (2017-2018)
« on: December 11, 2017, 11:13:24 AM »
Juventus vs Spurs
FC Basel vs Man City
Porto vs Liverpool
Sevilla vs Man Utd
Real Madrid vs PSG
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Roma
Chelsea vs Barcelona
Bayern Munich vs Besiktas

So United had the easiest group and arguably one of the easiest last 16 tie... and Jose moans about City having the gods of football behind them ;D
Real Madrid vs PSG puts one of the big hitters out - you could see an English side lifting the trophy this year (probably not Chelsea) lol.

At last City get a reasonable draw.
At least Maureen can pick up some more lemons from Spain.
Five English teams in the Quarters.
Only the one and only Hoarses

Decent result for Chelsea last night but that away goal might cost them.

Team news for United:

De Gea

Valencia Lindelof Smalling Young

Herrera Matic McTominay

Mata Lukaku Sanchez

Pogba on the bench  :o

A TERRIBLE first half from United. De Gea has made a couple of world class saves and United go in level at half-time.

Herrera came off injured after 16 minutes with Pogba coming on to replace him.

Lukaku is a threat that the 2 Sevilla centre backs are struggling to deal with but Sevilla have been the better side during that first half by a mile. They've had 6 times more shots on goal than United and 5 times more on target. :'(

Hardly a bus parked when Sevilla were only denied winning the game from some poor finishing and some good saves from de gay.  You see Liverpool smash Porto 5-0 away from home and then you get that from United, I'd be embarrassed by that display, Sevilla are 5th in la liga,  that's the equivalent of a championship side over here, their best player is Navas lol.

Most of their 25 attempts on goal were from outside the area. We parked that bus pretty well for the vast majority of the game. The last 5 minutes of the first half was the only time that Sevilla really threatened to score.

Way too negative from United so far. 0-0 at halftime and we've only had 1 shot on target. We've got the players up front to carve them open at will but apart from doing that once or twice we're just sitting there and inviting them on.

We need to up the pace for the second half otherwise we're going to get caught out.

TERRIBLE performance from United. 0-2 down with 11 minutes to go. This has been an embarrassment.

And that's it. Game over. Maureen and the players need to hang their heads in shame. United should have played attacking football and gone at them right from the start of the first half. We needed goals ffs. >:(

Sevilla deservedly through, no easy games in the last 16, especially when you attempt to play with 10 men behind the ball for 180 minutes

Yup. It's REALLY annoying because we have the players there to cause any team on the planet defensive problems. Personally I think United need to switch back to playing 4-4-2 at home:

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Smalling Young

Lingard Matic Fellaini Rashford

Sanchez Lukaku

Would have been a much better idea than playing 4-5-1 with 2 defensive midfielders. Have Lukaku or Sanchez dropping deep when losing possession.

I hate playing 4-5-1 at home. :'(

This could be the beginning of the end for Mourinho at United.. we all know what happens in his 3rd season ;D - this could well be the catalyst judging by people's reactions to the game last night and some of his post-match comments..

Yep as I predicted, Mourinho has started his melt-down and did his best impression of Rafa's FACT rant ;D ;D ;D  By his words, you don't understand what football 'eritage is harv lolol.  Maybe someone should remind him that Chelsea didn't have an 'eritage when he joined the first time around.. so whats different - you've spent over £300m in two seasons.. anyone falling for this old claptrap needs their head seeing too... he's being paid to deliver results and trophies.. not to be slightly better than Moyes and Looney.
