Well Maldini's son can't take penalties ;D

United won on penalties. 8)

Rashford was looking great on the left, hopefully he'll start there regularly when the season starts. I've always said it was his best position.

A decent game to watch and a decent performance from United.

Looks like the Lukaku-Dybala swap is off according to reports from the British press. We've pulled out because his wage and agent fee demands are taking the piss.

Whilst that would have been nice, it's nowhere near as important as getting Fernandes but that's on and off more than a buggered kitchen light lol ;D ;D ;D

Maguire is now a United player. He's on around £200,000 per week on a 6 year contract with an optional 1 year on top. So he's basically going to spend the rest of his career at United if all goes according to plan.

We've overpaid (again!) but he's exactly what we need.

Sky Sports are now reporting that United won't be making any more signings. Terrible news if true...we haven't replaced Herrera yet ffs :o

Maybe that'll change if Inter fork out some cash for Lukaku..?

Well something odd may be about to happen. Spurs have had a bid for Dybala accepted, I can't see them being able to satisfy his wage demands though. And Spurs want us to sign Eriksen, probably to lighten their wage bill.

We'll see what happens during these next two days. Spurs could be looking at a serious title challenge if they get Dybala!!! :o

But then this is Pochettino we're talking about here, he hasn't managed to win a trophy in his managerial career yet! :o

United have accepted a did of £70m/£72m (depending on where you're reading the report) for Lukaku from Inter.

So that means since January we've got rid of Fellaini, Herrera, Valencia and Lukaku and only signed James, Wan-Bissaka and Maguire so far.

Our midfield is looking a little weak at the moment, we need at least a number 10 or a number 8 (or a player able to play both roles well). Hopefully now we're getting 70 million quid from Inter we'll get something sorted before 5pm tomorrow otherwise we're pretty much screwed when we get Pogba injured or suspended.

Bruno Fernandes would be ideal.

I can't believe we've only spent around £150m or so so far, around £80m if you take into account the sale of Lukaku. An £80m net spend is something you'd expect from the likes of Burnley instead of a club the size and stature of United. It'll be embarrassing if we don't make at least one more buy tomorrow. Fucking Glazernomics!!!!! >:(

And we didn't sign ANYONE. No surprise tbh.

We'll be lucky to get 4th place with our midfield at the moment, if Pogba and McTominay are injured or suspended we're screwed.

The red scouse gits won 4-1 last night. Wankers. I had a fiver on them winning by 5 goals or more at 4/1. >:(

Team news for United:

De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Pereira, Lingard, Martial; Rashford

Bench: Romero, Mata, Young, James, Greenwood, Matic, Tuanzebe

Not too sure about the positions up front, probably Pereira on the right, Lingard as the number 10, Rashford on the left and Martial as the number 9 I think, but any of those 4 positions and players in those positions are pretty much interchangeable.

Good luck for later on drags and jman! ;D

Chelsea hit the post in the first 5 minutes. These first 7 minutes have a ridiculous pace so far. They're all going to be knackered at halftime lol  ;D

Rashford puts United 1-0 up with a penalty. Chelsea have JUST been the better side so far, I can see them scoring if they keep this up.

That's 1-0 at halftime. It was even on attempts on goal and on target until a 4 minute flurry by Chelsea in the last 10 minutes put them ahead on attempts on goal and attempts on target.

United have had 5 attempts on goal and 2 on target, Chelsea have had 8 attempts on goal and 3 on target. Chelsea have also hit the woodwork twice.

Quite an entertaining first half and this game could go either way because we're only 1 goal ahead.

2-0 now. Nice goal from a fast break. Good work by Rashford and Pereira and Martial finished it.

And just as I was bunging that on my phone Rashford gets number three. An amazing ball from Pogba, a great first touch and a great finish from Rashford.

Chelsea have had the most possession and more attempts on goal but for the most part those attempts have been pretty poor.

I'm really liking the way we're reacting to losing possession, to quote the NBC commentator, when we lose the ball we're hunting in packs.

The scoreline is flattering us but we've had the better chances I think.
