Title: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: jman on July 01, 2016, 01:32:58 PM
New season.. new thread...

Giggs announced he's leaving United after 29 years today... sorry Harv but LOL!!!
Mourinho is doing what Mourinho does best at the moment... he's building a team, something FatHead would never of done...although personally I wouldn't be too happy with the signing of Twattan Imalittlebitch... but he'll bring goals and leadership

Falcao and Pato both left Chelsea today too.. good.  Michy Batshuayi passed a medical.. don't know much about him apart from the goal he scored against Hungary the other week.. he looks like a bit of a wildcard.

Citeh bought Nolito today... he had a decent tournament I thought.

A shame to see Giggsy go, he should have been the next manager instead of Maureen :(

The latest transfer rumour is that United will be signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan (who from now on I'm going to be calling Henry cos it's a lot easier to spell and type lmfao ;D ) at the weekend, so that means that Mata is probably on his way out, unless Maureen is going to keep him at the club as a backup.

Also more rumours that we're going to be making a bid for Pogba...Juve want £83m for him. Better off sticking with Timbo, he's better than Pogba was at the same age, can also play any position at the back and is more grounded. Can't see Mourinho doing this though given his reluctance to trust yoof players.

Not looking forward to next season, Maureen is going to be a disaster. :'(

And the Henry deal has been done, £26.3m. Quite happy with the signings that Maureen has done so far, but have my doubts that we'll be playing attacking football under him despite the signings he's made. I'm expecting the usual parking of the bus playing 4-5-1 with two defensive midfielders unfortunately, although there are rumours that he's going to be playing 4-3-3 with a number 6.

Might call him Miki instead of Henry, easier to type. Would also give us a great song to sing:

Oh Miki you're so fine,
You're so fine you blow my mind,
Hey Miki
*Claps*
Hey Miki
*Claps*

 ;D ;D ;D

Always loved that song and the bird in the cheerleader's outfit too :P

A good press conference from Maureen. He's confirmed that a fourth signing is very close, in fact he had to ask United's press officer next to him whether it was officially done yet or not lol. So sounds like it's very close to being finalised. Could be Pogba but that's going to slow down Timbo's development. :-\

He also confirmed that he wants to play the Roonster as a number 9, number 10 or a number 9 and a half lol ;D

So unless he's playing as a number 10 that would put Rashford as third place for the number 9 position. He said that he didn't see the Roonster as a number 6 or number 8, personally I'd say that the number 8 position is his best position at the moment. :-\

He looked like an absolutely miserable bastard though.

He shall now be known as "Better than the last One" lol.. cant get much worse to be fair.

Well that's the Miki deal done. Just seen his stats from the Bundesliga last season, 32 assists and 20-odd goals in 52 games. :o

He won't have as much time on the ball in Premiership matches and games will be more physical so we'll see how he handles it.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017

Ooops, my bad. It was 23 goals and 26 assists. Still bloomin impressive though 8)

The latest rumour is that Sky Sports sauces are saying that Real Madras are pulling out of the race to sign Pogba. ;D

If we get Pogba we could see Pogba and Fosu-Mensah forming the best midfield partnership that the Premiership has ever seen once Carrick and Basti have both left United - better even than Keane and Scholes and Petit and Vieira, probably starting during the 2017-2018 season. And if we can keep them both happy then we could see them playing together for 10+ years. :o 8)

Talk of Blackett and Varela both being let go which is going to be a shame. :(

Sky confirmed Leicester accepted Kante bid for 32m today... he had a great season... but then so did Matic 2 seasons ago....

Conte looked and sounded boss in his press conference the other day though, my feelings are positive so far..

Team news for Wigan vs United:

Johnstone

Fosu-Mensah Bailly Blind Shaw

Herrera Carrick

Lingard Micki Memphis

Wilson

Timbo being played out of position again. :(

Good to see Shaw back. ;D

Good competition for places for the front four this season - Lingard, Memphis, the Roonster, Fellaini, Young, Micki, Martial, Herrera, Wilson, Zlatan and Rashford all vying for those four places.

I think people are going to be surprised by Memphis this season. 8)

Still not happy with playing 4-5-1 this season though.

Just seen the 11 subs on the bench:

J Pereira, Blackett, Jones, Tuanzebe, Varela, Adnan, Mata, A Pereira, Valencia, Young and Keane.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on July 16, 2016, 02:14:12 PM
Bailly looking good so far, cool as a cucumber and comfortable on the ball. Micki is looking VERY frisky. :o ;D 8)
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on July 16, 2016, 02:45:59 PM
Wigan parked the bus in the first half, 10 men behind the ball but we still managed to create a few decent chances.

7 subs coming on for the second half:

Jones, Mata, Adnan, A Pereira, Valencia, Keane, Young on for Shaw, Carrick, Wilson, Fosu-Mensah, Micki, Lingard and Memphis.

A daft mistake from Jaaskelainen gives the ball straight to Mata who sets up Keane for an easy finish. 0-1 to United. ;D

Powell comes on for Wigan. Don't know what happened with Powell at United. :-\

2 more changes for United. Varela on for Blind and Blackett on for Herrera.

Tuanzebe on for Bailly and Joel Pereira on for Johnstone.

Tuanzebe is another fantastic yoof player. He's going to go far with United I think, only 18 too.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on July 16, 2016, 03:30:19 PM
A comfortable 0-2 win for United against a side that was playing with 10 men behind the ball. Created a good few chances  but, again, not enough on target...just 2 I think. Good to see United playing the ball forwards rather than sideways though. I'm sure that someone will do a comparative diagram soon between this much and the average Van Gaal match.

Varela looked amazing as a defensive midfielder, will be interesting to see how he does playing there against better opposition if he gets a chance.

Bah, United a goal down. A double save from Johnstone but the third effort went in. A bit of a scrappy goal. :(

Both sides cancelling each other out for the most part though.

2-0 at halftime, second goal from a penalty after a handball by Valencia. Both sides were cancelling each other out during the first 20 minutes or so but after the first goal Dortmund started to dominate. Probably 7 or 8 changes at halftime.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017

Minutes after United go 3-0 down great play from Mata and Micki gives Micki his first goal for United. 3-1.

Dortmund are ahead of United in their preparations for the start of the season, this is United's second game and Dortmund's fifth and it shows. :(

Team news for United:

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw

Schneiderlin Herrera

Roonster

Micki Martial

Zlatan

It's Zlatan Time!!! ;D ;D ;D

That match against Citeh being cancelled hasn't done our preseason any favours but it's only one match I guess. Extra training should compensate for fitness but we may be set back as far as sharpness goes. Although having the Community Shield match should do us a few favours.

Oops! Force of habit, we'll be playing 4-5-1 not 4-3-3 with a number 10!

Should be:

Micki Roonster Martial

Great goal, United go 2-1 down just before halftime. Galatasaray have been the better side during this first half. Micki, Zlatan and Martial are looking a bit frisky and the Roonster has had an average game so far.

Bailly looking pretty solid again too.

3-2 to United now. Great play from Rashford has the keeper bringing him down, and the Roonster scores from the penalty. If this wasn't a friendly he would have seen red for that.

0-0 at halftime, United have been the better side in the first half but nowhere near enough chances created for either side.

Zlatan isn't quite there yet, but he should be properly settled in and scoring soon after the season starts I think. He's scored one for United already though so even a 'not quite there yet' Zlatan is a dangerous player to play against. 8)

Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017

United a goal ahead at halftime. United dominant for the first 15 minutes, Leicester dominant for  the next 20-30 minutes and about even for the remaining 15 minutes of the first half. Lingard's goal was a real corker, Bailly continuing to impress and Rooney has been missing for most of the match so far.

6 changes for each manager for this game. We'll see De Gea playing 90 minutes I think but we have Romero, Rojo, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Micki, Mata and Rashford available on the bench. My guess is that we won't change anyone until the 60 minute mark.

Hull beat Leicester 2-1 and Vardy couldn't hit the proverbial barn door.

I was expecting Hull to get battered tbh, and I'm 99% sure that they'll end up getting relegated. :(

My predicted starting lineup for United later this afternoon:

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw

Carrick Herrera

Lingard Rooster Martial

Zlatan

I don't think I'm going to be too far off, the only small doubt I have is with Herrera. We may see Maureen choosing Fellaini to play instead.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on August 14, 2016, 12:35:33 PM
Well I got that wrong lol

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw

Herrera Fellaini

Mata Roonster Martial

Zlatan

Lingard is injured and Mata gets the nod ahead of Micki which is a surprise. Our two midfielders in the middle aren't too strong defensively, I would have had Schneiderlin or Carrick in there in place of one of those two.

The players we have available on the bench is ridiculous lololol

Romero, Rojo, Memphis, Carrick, Rashford, Micki, Schneiderlin

And when Pogba is available we'll also have either Herrera or Fellaini to add to that list lol :o ;D

Memphis on for the Roonster.

Sky Sports have given the MOTM award to Bailly, and deservedly so.

The difference between Mourinho's United and Van Gaal's United are plain to see. United are taking more risks, there are more passes forward, more pace and penetration and what's made the REAL difference is that under Van Gaal we were creating plenty of chances but most of our chances were from distance and most of those were blocked.

I still think it's only a matter of time before Maureen loses the plot but hopefully we'll win a few trophies before he does lol :o ;D ;D ;D

And if Zlatan can stay fit we've got a great chance of winning the Premiership. 8)

Okay, here's my predicted lineup for United later on tonight:

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw

Herrera Pogba

Mata Roonster Martial

Zlatan

I almost bunged Micki in there in place of Mata but changed my mind. Pogba will probably play for 60 minutes and then get subbed for any one of Carrick, Fellaini or Schneiderlin. 8)

United upped the pace since I posted that and were playing a more attacking game. The result? An assist from the Roonster and a headed goal from Zlatan. ;D

That's 4 goals from 5 games for him now. 8)

1-0 at halftime. We were poor again for the first 20-25 minutes but stepped up our game after that. The Saints wasted a good few chances early on. We deserved to go in ahead just because of the way we played for that last 15 minutes or so imo 8)

Is he generally loved by you Chelsea fans Jman or are you guys fed up with his antics putting the team under unneccesary pressure?

I've been on holiday for the past 2 weeks - only got back yesterday.. and I'm moving house this week.. so been a bit too hectic to post... I missed the game against Wet Spam last week, but saw the highlights, Costa was lucky to stay on the pitch I guess, but we were the better team overall and deserved the win - Conte's celebration was great lol.

Saw the game yesterday, we played poor in the first half, but Fabregas and Michy changed the game when they came on.. quite clear Fabregas should be starting.  Costa is a right bastard - but I'm glad he's on our team rather than having to play against him lol - so yeah, we love him.

From what I've seen so far, we aren't going to be challenging for the league this season.. not unless Conte strengthens a few areas... I think it will be between City and United...  I'd plump for City as long as they can keep Aguero injury-free.

Post by: harv on August 21, 2016, 04:47:20 PM
And I'll go for United if we can keep Zlatan injury free ;D

If we win the Premiership this would mean that our second transition period has also lasted 3 years, although we have only won one trophy during that time unlike the two we won between 2003 and 2006...but to be fair this is a MUCH bigger transition period compared to Fergie's all those years ago. 8)

The Tigers playing with 10 men behind the ball and looking dangerous on the break. No decent chances to speak of from either side TBH.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on August 27, 2016, 06:14:28 PM
Fellaini booked early on, think he might come off at halftime. Hull playing with the bus parked and are looking dangerous on the break. Both sides defending well, Zlatan has come very close a couple of times, Pogba having a great game as are Valencia, Shaw and Blind. 0-0 at halftime, United have just about been the best side in the first half.

This game is going to be close I think, but we don't want to be dropping points this early in the season. :-\

You've got to feel for the Hull back four, tiredness allows Rooney to nip inside and Rashford puts United a goal ahead. Smalling on for Rooney and it's full-time.

If Phelan doesn't get this job then that's going to be a MAJOR injustice. :o

Apart from that last mistake for the goal that was a defensive masterclass from both sides. ;D

What with Louise going back to Chelski and Citeh signing Bravo I'm beginning to think that both clubs have decided not to try and win the Premiership this season. They're both liabilities at the back. Possibly the two most bizarre signings I've seen in a single transfer window. :-\ ??? :-\

Least we can sing the David Luiz song again  ;D ;D  I'm actually really happy he's back - and along with Alonso it gives Conte the options we need at the back.

If at the start of the season we were offered Luiz for £32m or Stones for £50m - I'd pick Luiz everyday of the week.
We bought him for £21m - sold him for £50m and rebought for £32m.. he's cost us a total of £3m  ;D ;D  Cheers PSG!

Interesting team news for United for this afternoon's derby:

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw

Fellaini Pogba

Micki Rooney Lingard

Zlatan

I thought that Lingard would play but was expecting him to play in Mata's position rather than Martial's.

Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017

Bravo should have seen Red? Rooney should have been off at least twice based on the sheer number of fouls he committed, not to mention constantly mouthing off at the ref. If that had been Costa today, we wouldn't have been hearing the end of it.

Still, good to see Jose has managed to keep his unbeaten home record intact at Utd as long as he did at Chelsea.  ;)

Also, given a choice of Kante or Pogba, I'd take Kante every time.

Bloody robbed yesterday, Leroy Fer might as well stabbed and murdered Cahill and we still wouldn't of got a free-kick.. amazing how that wasn't given... but it was good spirit to comeback and grab a draw, but we should of sewn that game up.  Got to feel for Cahill after his interview, he's got to be fearing for his place now with Luiz waiting in the wings.

Yup, particularly when you consider how well we played. I don't agree with Maureen that often but on another day, with a keeper not playing the game of his life, we would have won that game by four or five goals. Could have been worse though, Herrera should have got a straight red so we were lucky with that.

Herrera and Pogba seem to play pretty well together, going to be interesting to see if Maureen carries on playing them together when we face the red scouse gits next match.

Manu, playing dull as dishwater football since 2013.  I can't believe that was Mourinho's gameplan.. Liverpool were missing a few players, they looked dogshit in the first 30 minutes and yet united pretty much played a 6-3-1 for most of the 2nd half.

Lucky to get a point, 1 shot on target all game - definitely didn't deserve anything.  Lose against Chelsea on Sunday and United will have their work cut out to win the league.  The Chelsea players will have a point to prove against Mourinho too.. obviously Mou won't want to lose, but I'm expecting carnage either way  ;D

2-0 at halftime, United have had a few decent chances but haven't taken advantage of them, our defending has been piss poor and we could be more goals down. Not over yet though, still another 45 minutes to go and if we score early on in the second half the game could get interesting. Lol, Pogba will come good. Although I feel that may be under a different manager. I said that Maureen was going to be a disaster. He'll leave by mutual consent at the end of the season assuming that he doesn't get sacked before that. Simeone next, perhaps..?

Or maybe Fergie will come out of retirement lol :P

That performance definitely puts us in contention for the title.. in fact, since we changed to a 3-5-2 we have looked like a different and much stronger side.. Costa is playing fantastic at the moment, Kante is definitely the signing of the season, Hazard looks back to his best now that he doesn't always have to keep tracking back and although Luiz probably should of seen red.. our defence played extremely well yesterday.

United were shite.. utter shite lol.. £160m spent this year and looking worse than when you were under Looney's reign.  I'm not surprised we played so well as I expected the players to be pumped.. but I wasn't expecting United to be so bad, they deserved to be humiliated.  Couple more losses and there could be talk of the sack lolol.

I'd love Maureen to get the sack. I've said right from the start that he's a disaster waiting to happen. I did have hopes that he was going to win us a trophy or two because of his record but as I've mentioned previously he can't handle the pressure of a bad run of results. Another couple of defeats before Christmas and he'll start having another nervous breakdown like he did at Chelsea last season. :-\

Valencia bust his arm against City the other day and is having an operation on it today so that leaves United with just half of their first choice defenders playing. Rooney is on the bench.

A tough derby game for us this afternoon.

0-0 final score. Heaton was amazing. 37shots on goal, 11 on target and 19 corners...I don't think I've ever seen such a one-sided game in all of my life. :o

We need to sack Maureen and give the job to Giggsy, although to be fair Maureen didn't do much wrong for this match. Still, I want him out.

I said right from the start that Maureen was going to be a disaster. I guess it's a bit too early to be calling for his head, we'll see where we are after the Christmas and New Year fixtures have come and gone.

We're not being helped by having serious injury problems at the back in particular for the last 3 seasons. I can't believe we've been this unlucky with injuries for so long tbh.

United have had the better chances forcing 2 decent saves during the first half. United could have had a (soft) penalty. We've been the better side during this first half and De Gea hasn't had a save to make, but it's 0-0 at halftime. Darmian should have gone off in the first half for 2 bookings but managed to escape that second booking somehow.

I can't see there being more than a goal in it if either side wins but if the second half is anything like the first it's probably going to end 0-0 :(

The season isn't anywhere near over yet though chaps, and these last four or five games we've actually started to play some decent football. We haven't been helped by a few keepers having the game of their lives (although Heaton regularly plays that well, that's why I was so pissed off that we let him go at the time!).

We'll see where we all are at the end of the season. Anyone within 12 points of the leaders after the Christmas and New Year fixtures have come and gone are capable of winning the Premiership. I'm still not happy that Maureen is our manager but there have been some good signs these last few weeks so we'll see how things go. ;)

Courtois didn't win MotM against Utd.  ;D

Mourinho continues to display the mental behaviour that started last season, but then it seems to come out when things aren't going well.

Have to say I tend to agree that the Pogba card was harsh, the attempted challenge on him was late.

Also, why aren't there yellow cards for managers. They only get straight reds. Was kicking a water bottle worse than throwing a ball away as a show of dissent, for which a player would only get a yellow card. Find it very strange, but then maybe the F.A place a higher expectancy on managers to set an example.

I was thinking the exact same thing on the yellow cards for managers.. seems a bit stupid.. but Jon Moss is a pillock so perhaps it was to be expected.

1-1 final score and yet ANOTHER keeper has won the Man Of The Match award against United. >:(

Yes I forgot, other teams/players aren't allowed to play well at Old Trafford - 11 points adrift already.. think its safe to say United are already out of the title challenge.  Might not even get top 4 lol.

United 0-1 up at halftime, they've completely dominated the game and deserve to go in ahead on balance of play but the goal from Pogba was not only offside but also had a handball from Zlatan for the assist by the looks of it. Twas a drab match though harv.. and if you look past the possession stats, you were fairly lucky to come away with a win.. even though the referees didn't really help either team.  I had a double on Chels + Utd to win at 5/2 so that last goal did me a favour as I was cursing not cashing out just before Palace scored.

10 (TEN!) wins in a row for Chelsea now.. wonder if we can go on and beat Arsenals record of 14.. Palace away, Bournemouth home, Stoke home, Spurs away and Leicester away - its certainly do-able!  We already hold Most goals scored in a season, Fewest goals conceded in a season and Most points gained in a season - so this would be a nice one to add.

6 points clear now.. and top at Xmas.. Chelsea have always gone on to win the title when top at Xmas.. so they might as well give us the trophy now  ;D ;D

Fairly lucky..? Hardly. We were all over them like a rash and dominated the game from start to finish.

We're actually starting to play some great football these last 7 or 8 games and were only denied wins by ridiculous Man Of The Match performances by a few keepers. We've had a bit of luck by Rojo not getting sent off twice but were due a bit of luck after at least half of our first choice back four being out injured for a while.

I may be in the minority but the ref didn't do anything wrong disallowing the Ibrahimovic goal. ANYWHERE else on the pitch and a free kick would be given for dangerous play. Just like a two footed studs up challenge results in a red card even if contact isn't made. As much as we like to see goals scored, and good ones, the height of his foot and the fact it was studs first made it dangerous play.

Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on January 01, 2017, 02:49:40 AM
When Zlatan started to leap for the ball the keeper was nowhere near the ball. It was only 'dangerous' because Valdes threw himself at the ball and Zlatan. Should have been a penalty for United in that case (although we were denied 2 penalties without that incident on top!).

Still, it doesn't matter because we got 3 points anyway.

United have been playing some REALLY nice football these last couple of months, I MAY have been calling for Maureen's head a bit too soon. :o

Mind you it's only a matter of time before he goes mental and upsets a few players/the fans/the board [delete as applicable] and gets sacked/forced to resign like he's done at every single club he's worked at throughout his entire career :-\

Hopefully Randolf isn't going to have another outstanding performance like he did in their last league match against us. :o

Another ridiculous decision. Feghouli gets an undeserved straight red for a 50/50 challenge on Jones. It was just a yellow. Ridiculous. That's probably ruined the game now.

0-0 at halftime, United have been pretty poor during that first half. Not enough width, not enough crosses and not enough shots on goal. Buildup has been pretty slow too. West Ham undeservedly down to 10 men and after that red card he's completely lost the plot regarding bookings. Wouldn't surprise me if we see a United player sent off for a second yellow card during the second half.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017

Ended up with United winning 0-2. First goal from Mata after some good work from Rashford and the second goal from Zlatan after 3 players including himself were offside lol.

Mike Dean completely ruined what could have been a good match, but I'm not complaining too much. If I was a West Ham fan I'd be going completely ape at the moment.

Whenever it's mathematically possible for United to win a trophy I believe they can do it. I wouldn't be much of a fan otherwise, would I..? And we've seen two major upsets so far. Once when Amber was giving it the biggun years and years ago and once when my good self was giving it the biggun a few years ago. There's plenty of time to go yet. If the Premier League handed out the trophy this early arse and the red scouse gits in particular would have a load of those trophies in their trophy cabinets. :P

38 minutes gone and it's all United so far but we haven't created anywhere near enough chances. Hull should be down to 10 men though. Rashford is causing them a few problems with his pace though.

We've been REALLY unlucky with some of these draws though. We're playing some decent football, completely dominating matches, creating plenty of chances but haven't scored in those matches due to ridiculous goalkeeper performances.

And the Premiership title is still on for United too despite what you may think ;)

United 0-2 up at halftime, thanks to Maureen switching to 4-4-2 after 20 minutes. We really need to be playing 4-4-2 more often imo, that formation has been a part of United's DNA for donkey's years. Plenty of width, plenty of pace and plenty of penetration. I really don't like the way that managers have been playing 4-5-1 with two defensive midfielders almost as a standard these days, you can understand doing that away from home but playing at home like that is too negative imo.

And Mata makes it 3. Nice goal too, although he COULD have got sent off during the first half. If you look at the replay in slow motion though you can see that he tried pulling his legs back when he realised that it was dangerous play, probably saved him from going off I think.

I'm not worried, we've got two chances of getting Champion's League football next season, a top four place and winning the Europa League. Who knows, maybe we'll get both (and that will mean that we'll give arse Champion's League football when they finish in fifth place which will REALLY piss me off).
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: Dragontao on February 10, 2017, 06:50:31 PM
I think you could be wrong. If you win Europa and finish outside top 4, we don't lose a place. If you win it and finish in the top 4, we don't get a 5th team in the CL. Finishing 5th will never get you a CL place.

http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/newsid=2215121.html

– The club that won the UEFA Champions League will go straight into the group stage
– The UEFA Europa League winners will go into the UEFA Champions League play-offs
– The club that had qualified for a UEFA Champions League play-off spot via their domestic league competition (i.e. finished fourth) will transfer into the UEFA Europa League.

Bournemouth down to 10 men but Zlatan should have gone off too. That stamp on Zlatan's head was NASTY but the following elbow from him was pretty disgraceful too tbh.

1-1 at halftime but United have wasted loads of good chances and should be two or three goals ahead.

Both players should get a 5 match ban for their behaviour this afternoon imo. :o

Have to say after seeing it more, I think it's pretty obvious that Mings didn't mean to stamp on zlatans head.  It's only one angle that it looks bad in.  Zlatan definitely elbowed Mings on purpose though.. And to come out and say that Mings jumped into his elbow just shows what a prick he is... I can see some retrospective action being taken there ;D

Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: jman on March 06, 2017, 02:04:37 PM
If you watch it again in slow motion, it appears that Zlatan tried to stamp on Mings.. missed and then fell over Rooney and held his leg... Mings was unbalanced getting up from tackling Rooney (and Rooney was still in the way), he looked down to see where Zlatan was play-acting and then tried to jump past Rooney and over Zlatan but unfortunately his boot hit Zlatan's head.  People have their own opinions and I can see on one camera angle it did look bad.. but going on the character of the player and the fact he came out straight away and denied it.. combined with the fact that it would be very contentious... I think the FA will find it hard to ban him.

Zlatan unequivocally elbowed Mings in the head.. there's no getting away from that.. it was a pre-meditated act and the fact that Zlatan came out and said that Mings jumped into his elbow.. I think he will rightfully get a 3 match ban by the FA.  Next thing you know Jose will come out and say there's an agenda against United (to hide from the fact he's spent £150m this season and is still only 6th) ;) ;D
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on March 06, 2017, 02:19:01 PM
He looked down TWICE. And you can see that in EVERY angled scene. It was a deliberate stamp and a very nasty one at that.

Personally I think that BOTH players should get a 5 match ban. You can understand why Zlatan did what he did but two wrongs don't make a right.

The player that pushed Zlatan over should also have got a straight red. He raised his hands, pushing other players over is part of what that rule covered. There was also another Bournemouth player that should have seen red with a double booking but somehow only ended up with one yellow.

It was a very poor performance from the ref tbh, there should have only been 18 players on the pitch by the time the final whistle went.

I'm not too worried.

I see that Minger is appealing his 3 match ban which means he'll get the 5 match ban that he should have got anyway. Zlatan isn't appealing his so we'll only lose him for 3 matches. Both players should have got a 5 match ban right from the start, disgraceful behavious from both of them (although you can understand why Zlatan did it).

I personally do think Mings deliberately tried to stamp on Zlatan. The way his foot was coming down wasn't a natural movement to me.

That said, I'd want to stamp on the big nosed twats head as well, so can't really blame him.

I also think we'd have been better off against Zlatan. Good though he is, his lack of pace makes him less of a threat. I think a combination of Rashford/Martial might cause us more problems.

De Gea

Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Rojo Darmian

Herrera, Pogba, Young

Mkhitaryan, Rashford

Bench: Romero, Bailly, Blind, Carrick, Fellaini, Lingard, Mata

Looking like 5-3-2 going by that line-up. ;D

Missed the first half due to the clock in Elite Dangerous being an hour slow, bloody annoying because I just assumed that it was the same time as the system clock. Going to have a look in the settings and set it to DST.

It was a great second half, heroic defending at times from The Toffees and some questionable decisions by the ref. Zlatan should have had his 'offside' goal allowed but you can understand the linesman getting that wrong because it was a VERY close call. Zlata got us a point by scoring a penalty in the last minute.

Not a good result for us though, we need 3 points from EVERY game at the moment. Bloody frustrating. >:(

Only 4 points between 1st and 2nd place now :o

Can't remember what I was watching when they said that but they got it wrong. I thought it surprised me lol

7 points difference!

Still off your rocker then Harv mate :)

Good to see you still about.

I believe we will pinch 4th place this season. Just need to pick up a few more wins rather than draws. Interested to see who he lets go and who he brings in when the season is done.

Well Lingard has signed a new 4 year deal and Carrick has got another 1 year extension so that's two players we know are staying at least. ;D

true, need more quality in mid going forward and another class striker imo.

rooney is done, herrera, mata, fellaini, not good enough going forward.

Rashford needs more time before anyone can judge really and im not a big fan of martial, maybe as a striker but wasted out wide.

1-0 at halftime, United the best side by far. We were lucky with that handball not being given but we deserve to go in ahead.

Rashford and Lingard have been tearing them to pieces :o

I can see the milk cartons tomorrow:

Quote
MISSING
Eden Hazard
(Aged 26 1/4)

Last Seen In Herrera's Pocket

An easy win for United and it's starting to look like Chelsea are starting to lose their bottle towards the end of the season :o

David De Gea is going to probably pick up a 5 match suspension and a big fine from the FA though which is a bit of a bugger :(
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on April 16, 2017, 09:25:25 PM
Well it's quiet on the Chelsea front here tonight, isn't it..? 8)

With De Gea I was obviously talking about De Gea sneaking off the pitch during the first half to get himself a cup of tea and a Balti Pie. This is the third time he's done it during these last few years and he's already had two strict warnings from the FA. That's his third strike and I think he's out now :'(

 ;D ;D ;D

haha, Never expected that result tbf. United were quality. Pressing all the time and man marking hazard was a good shout.

Herrera had a very good game just wish he had more games like this.

We done Spurs a big favor there.

8 changes for United for a tough game at Turf Moor:

De Gea

Darmian Bailly Blind Young

Herrera Fellaini

Lingard Pogba Martial

Rooster

So Rashford rested and the Roonster starts up front. Am surprised that Rashford is being rested, but he did play 120 minutes on Thursday.

Nice goal from Martial put United ahead. We'll need another one though I think.

And just as I typed that the Roonster gets number 2.

The first two United players to score at Turf Moor since Lou Macari in 77 I think it was. Told you these matches were tough!

A comfortable win for United who won 0-2.

The Bitters on Thursday for a must win game for both sides, a tough match even without the ridiculous injuries we have at the moment. :(

I'll be more confident if we beat Everton or spuds slip up, they've got a much harder run in than us but it's not over yet.

Great performance tonight, good to see JT come on at the end too.  Costas 2nd goal was fucking amazing, I love that front three of hazard, pedro and costa.

More changes for United.

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Blind Darmian

Herrera Carrick Fellaini

Micki Rashford Martial

Am expecting the pace of Rashford and Martial in particular to cause the Bitters problems on the break.

0-0 at halftime, the first half of the first half was pretty even but Citeh started to get a grip of the game during the last 20 minutes or so.

Maureen has been playing Micki in the middle with Martial and Rashford out wide, I reckon we'll see Lingard on for Micki sometime during the second half and Rashford in the middle.

Just like to point out to harv that it's now mathematically impossible for United to win the league  ;D ;D

Lucky to get a draw out of Swansea,  nice dive from Rashford though.  Chelsea were outstanding today, few nervy moments but once we were in front we really dominated.   Arsenal played like a shower of shit and deservedly lost.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on April 30, 2017, 07:14:33 PM
And another two injuries to add to the list too. :'(

arse and Spurs next, away, with two matches against Celta Vigo too. Still, only 7 matches to play next month if we make it to the Europa League Final lol :o ;D ;D ;D

Not so sure that we're going to go through though, the squad is looking REALLY knackered these last few games. Makes me wish that Van Gaal had 'done a Ryan Giggs' last season and thrown a few matches to make sure we weren't in the competition. Maureen probably would have won the Premiership by now if we didn't have all of those extra matches to play. Still, can't complain too much because I REALLY want us to win this competition considering it's the only one we haven't won. :-\

West Brom away is a potential banana skin. They are 8th and while we should win, I reckon it will be a tougher game than Everton.

Arsenal. the ultimate surrender monkeys, couldn't do us any favours today. Hope they play like that in the cup final. They were all over the place in the second half.

Boro' are still fighting and showed today they have something left in them.

Always wary of clubs at the bottom who are already down. Nothing to play for and often go out with a bang, look at Spurs losing to Newcastle last day of the season last year to finish 3rd.

Hoping Leicester return the favour to us from last season.

But the good news is that if we win the 3 remaining home games we are champions no matter what - and if we win all 4 games, we'll beat our own record of most wins in a season too 8)

Besides, I can't see Spurs winning all their remaining games anyway, I'd be surprised if they beat united - united like to bore everyone to death with draws - they've already equalled the most home draws in a season record.. sure you must be super proud of that record harv.. especially when you consider you have the most expensive squad in the world.
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017
Post by: harv on May 02, 2017, 05:06:56 PM
And it'll get more expensive in the Summer too!

Like I've said before, we've been seriously hampered by injuries for the last 3 seasons. Probably just as well that we've got arguably the strongest squad in the Premiership because any other side in the Premiership would probably be mid-table for each of those seasons if they had the injuries we've had and certainly wouldn't have won 2 trophies.

One concern I have for next season is that arse aren't looking like getting 5th place so will be without European football next season. That combined with Wenger being shown the door at the end of this season could mean that arse might win the Premiership last season. :(

Heard yesterday that Zlatan's operation on his knee was a success, going to be interesting to see if he signs a new deal or not.

8 changes from the side that played Celta Vigo but still a strong side. Tuanzebe makes his first senior start, probably at right back, and Mata is back. Going to be interesting to see how the front four players line up as all of their positions are interchangeable:

De Gea

Tuanzebe Smalling Jones Darmian

Carrick Herrera

Micki Mata Martial

Roonster

0-0 at halftime. The first half an hour was pretty even with both sides creating chances but the last 15 minutes arse started to dominate and were more of a threat.

United are playing a bit too defensively for my liking. >:(

United were shite, best chance of the game came from an arsenal mistake.  Best hope you win the Europa League cos you ain't finishing top 4 lol.

Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017

Still plenty of time to go before the top 4 is decided. It could still go down to the wire.

And the match could have gone either way if it wasn't down to that first goal coming from a lucky deflection.

I said right from the start of Maureen getting the job that I wasn't looking forward to him parking the proverbial bus too by the way. ;)

Yep, we deserved to be champions, most consistent throughout the season and that winning run we had was just epic.  Fair play to spurs who pushed us most of the way, can't believe how bad citeh and United have been this season!   Jose and Pep will be getting their marching orders next season if they has a similar showing I'm sure

If we're not hamstrung by the Europa League and injuries are even only half as bad we'll win the Premiership.

Team news for United:

De Gea

Bailly Jones Smalling

Tuanzebe Carrick Roonster Blind

Mata Lingard

Martial

Looking like 3 at the back unless Maureen opts to put Jones next to Carrick playing 4-5-1 with 2 defensive midfielders.

1-0 down at halftime and Maureen is parking that bus AGAIN.

These last 4 or 5 Premiership matches have been awful. I'm convinced that he's dropping points on purpose the same way that Giggsy did when he took over from Moyes years ago to avoid 5th place.

Why would mourinho purposely avoid 5th place, you'll be shoved into the Europa league regardless of league position because you won the league cup.  You'll only get champions league if you beat ajax now.. And on another dreadful performance I wouldn't back them to do that, even if it is just ajax

These last half a dozen or so Premiership matches have been woeful. It's like watching Chelsea from years ago.

No idea what's happened to our attacking, exciting football that Maureen's United were playing when we got all of those draws (yes, I know how that sounds but it was only down to 3 or 4 Man Of The Match performances from opposition keepers having the games of their lives that prevented us from getting 3 points from each match!).

The only thing I can think of is that Maureen is using these matches as extended training sessions parking that bus during competitive matches in preparation for the Final next week :-\

Not the way I like to see sides playing football though, but if it manages to win us the trophy I won't complain too much I guess. :-\ >:(
Title: Re: Premier League 2016-2017

Well its not really like watching Chelsea a few seasons back is it - we won the title back in 2014-15 and broke shit loads of records that season too.  The only record you are likely to break is the amount of home draws in a season.  15 draws in total now, that's nearly half your games and United are only 2 points better off than what Moyes achieved lololol.  Don't forget its all the injuries you've had ;)

Good to see Gomes getting an appearance for the first team today. Remember how I was saying that Rashford was going to be the dog's bollocks..? Gomes is better. Of course the press are making a big deal out of Nani being his godfather and of course there are going to be Ronaldo comparisons but this kid really is something special. I'm hoping that he isn't going to go out on loan because there's no guarantee whether it'#s going to be a good loan or a bad one, annoyingly these things seem to be 50/50. They either get decent first team action or they don't.

I'd much rather that he stays training with the first team and getting the odd appearance in League Cup or maybe even FA Cup matches here and there.

Also good to see Josh Harrop getting a chance too.

All the kids did well this afternoon. 8)
