arse playing Leicester and Lacazette puts arse a goal up inside 2 minutes. Not a bad start for the Froggy :o

They pulled one back 3 minutes later but arse are all over them like a rash :o

Bloody streams are playing up. The Foxes are 1-2 up, I missed both of their goals. >:(

2-2 at halftime, goal from Welbeck just before the half ended. arse will be lucky to get in the top 6 at the end of the season.

Here's my predictions:

1 United
2 Citeh
3 Spurs
4 Chelsea
5 Red Scouse gits
6 Blue Scouse gits
7 arse

Unless we have a fourth season on the trot with a ridiculous amount of injuries of course.

Bottom 3:

18 Newcastle
19 Huddersfield
20 Watford

 8)

arse are 2-3 down now.

Bloody he'll, they ended up winning 4-3 lol ;D

I still stand by my prediction of 7th place for them though unless they get knocked out of the Europa League early.

Stupid challenge from Cahill with his studs up and gets a straight red 14 minutes into the game. Chelsea changing to a back 4 now.

2 yellows and a red for Chelsea in 16 minutes lol

Can't believe that Cahill was that stupid. That's a red card in each of their last 3 games :o

The red Scouse gits ended up with a 3-3 draw. That's 13 goals in the first 2 Premiership matches  :o

The Roonster is starting his first game back home today too. Now that we've got rid of him he'll end up being the Premiership top goalscorer this season lol ;D

That's 0-2 now, a cracking goal from Ward.

And that's Vokes with a brace. 0-3 to Burnley just before halftime.

Might be worth picking up a fine and not coming out for the second half to keep the scoreline down to 3 lmfao ;D

Red for Cahill was still harsh in my opinion but he's a stupid twat for giving the ref a decision because of his poor first touch.

Both Pedro and Cahill's cards have been for challenges no worse than we've seen in other matches so far but for which no red was given.

Ultimately this is down to the Chelsea board. 4th time they've done this after a title win. Utterly fucking ridiculous and most ardent Chelsea fans have been predicting it, though we didn't expect it to go this bad this early.

Started well until the red.

This was the easiest of our opening fixtures and we have some tough games coming up now. This is 2015/16 all over again and unless we spend stupid money (which I'm not totally in favour of) we are totally fucked and I can see Conte walking out before the end of the transfer window.

Tbh I thought Conte might have quit when we signed Lukaku. He probably would have gone if we nicked Bakayoko too.

Fibreglass needs to watch his dissent otherwise he might end up going too.

Morata with his first Chelsea goal. 1-3 now. They MIGHT get a point if they're lucky but with 20 minutes to go time is starting to run out.

That's Fibreglass off now lol. He should have gone off earlier for a second booking for dissent tbh.

Crowd are now singing '3-1 to the referee lmfao.

A bit harsh to the ref, both red cards were correct decisions...and as I said, Fibreglass could have gone off earlier.

Post by: Dragontao on August 12, 2017, 04:50:12 PM
Fabregas first card was costly. Stupid dissent, but the ref overall was an absolute cunt. One of the worst I've ever seen. Letting Burnley off without cards for similar challenges time after time before eventually booking a couple and one yellow for a challenge as dangerous as Cahill's.

Good second half but I'd like a few minutes alone with that ref in a dark alley with no CCTV
Title: Re: The Premiership 2017-2018 Thread
Post by: harv on August 12, 2017, 05:15:21 PM
The difference between that challenge and the Cahill one was that the player tried pulling out of the challenge. It all comes down to intent. Even if Cahill made no contact with the player it would have been a red card. Because the Burnley player tried to pull out of the challenge when he realised it was potentially dangerous there was no intent there. The red card and that yellow card were both correct decisions.

Louise could have had 4 or 5 yellow cards too, purely for dissent. :o

Almost 80% possession for the Bitters and both teams go in without scoring. Brighton only had one shot on goal which was on target but a weak effort.

They've done well to go in level but you can't help feeling that it's only a matter of time before it starts raining goals. I almost put them in as my relegation prediction but thought that the Geordies were more likely by a whisker.

Pogba having a great game so far. Having Matic there is unlocking Pogba's attacking play. West Ham are keeping things nice and tight in their defensive third and are having trouble coping with Mata especially.

A quick counter via Rashford, Matic making a great run on the overlap to distract the Hammers and Rashford feeds Lukaku who makes a great finish past Hart. Nice goal, 1-0 to United  8)

De Gea makes a good save after a Hernandez shot deflects a bit and that's the first half over. Good performance from United so far but we haven't got anywhere near enough attempts on target yet AGAIN  :o

Think we'll see goals from both sides in the second half.

4-0 final score and a deserved result that reflects the balance of play. ;D

Great starts for Matic and Lukaku and Pogba looks to be benefiting from Matic's presence on the pitch. Top of the table and near the bottom of the Premiership Injury Table with only 4 players injured - the least amount of players injured for United during the last 3 years :o

And that's the end of the first half, United go in a goal up. Goal came from a corner, Pogba headed it producing a good save from the keeper, the ball came off the crossbar and Bailly was quick to react and put it in the net.

I thought that Rashford would be the first to score because he was United's biggest threat in the first half.

And Lukaku gets United's second goal. 8)

And 2 minutes later Pogba gets number 3! ;D

I want another couple of goals, we used to average 3 games a season (in all competitions) scoring 5 goals every season since the club was first founded and that statistic has dropped since Fergie left.

And Martial gets number 4! 8)
Title: Re: The Premiership 2017-2018 Thread

It ended 0-4 to United 8)

A couple of easy matches though to be fair but Leicester will prove to be more of a challenge next week. We've actually been pretty lucky with the Premiership fixtures this year, most of our tough fixtures are spread out nicely.

Still, easy games or not you can't sniff at 8 goals scored and 0 goals conceded in two matches. ;D

I watched most of the football over the weekend, I thought Pogba was incredibly lucky not to be sent off and Swansea did well in the first half, could of been a different game had they not conceded just before half time but I think the result was inevitable.. I think swansea will struggle to stay up now they've sold their best player.

Chelsea performance was good.. excited for Bakayoko, looks like an decent prospect.. he needs time to adapt to the PL though as he did give a few silly fouls away.. Morata looked absolutely knackered after 60-65 minutes.. obviously still not fit.. but should of buried that chance at the start of the game.

Caught about 60 minutes of the City - Everton game.. both red cards were ridiculous - Bobby Madley, same prick who sent Pedro off in the community shield match for a yellow card tackle - perhaps he needs to go to Specsavers.

Incredibly lucky? Nope. That second challenge was a foul and never a yellow card. You seem to disagree with just about every single pundit that's commented on the matter. ;)

A tougher test for United on Saturday against The Foxes but we're playing at home and our confidence is up.

I think a big problem that Maureen had last season was getting the players into the habit of passing forwards instead of sideways and backwards, plus the ridiculous amount of injuries we had. The top two at the end of the season is definitely going to be the two Manchester clubs imo.

Nobody else doing predictions..?

Martial gets a start this evening against Leicester and Rashford is on the bench:

De Gea

Valencia Bailly Jones Blind

Matic Pogba

Mata Micki Martial

Lukaku

Bench: Romero Darmian Smalling Herrera Fellaini Lingard Rashford

A MUCH tougher test for United this evening compared to the first 2 matches but we did put 7 past them last season.

United were all over them during that first half. 13 attempts on goal but only 3 on target though. They've had 2 and one on target. You can't help thinking that it's only a matter of time before United score but we REALLY need to get more of our chances on target if we're going to win this.

Looks like that comment of mine has put the kiss of death on United scoring this evening. Young Schmeichel has made a couple of great saves including one from a Lukaku penalty. Should have been retaken though because he came off his line a fair bit.

2-0 final score. 3 matches played, 3 wins, 10 goals scored and 0 goals conceded. The scoreline last week flattered us but this week on balance of play 4-0 would have been a fair result.

Pogba got the Man Of The Match award but it should have gone to Maguire. He was immense during that game. Schmeichel also came close to getting it from me too.

Yup, and only 5 injuries so far. Plus we've scored nearly a fifth of the total goals scored for the whole of last season in 3 matches lmfao

It's the Matic signing that's done it. Chelsea were crazy to let him go and even crazier to let him go to United. One of the most bizarre transfer decisions I've EVER seen a football club make. What the fuck were they thinking..?

Pogba's improvement so far is down to 2 things. Firstly Matic is allowing him to play further forward where his game excels and secondly he appears to have got rid of the 'ring rust' that he had last season after playing in Italy for three years.

Still, early days yet, but the signs so far are looking pretty good. All we need now is a bit of luck with injuries and we should win the Premiership. These last three seasons have been ridiculous. Any of the other top 6 clubs would have ended up mid-table if they had the injuries that we've had for the last three seasons, it's only down to our squad being the strongest in the Premiership that we haven't been mid-table every season. 86 injuries during Van Gaal's first season (although to be fair that does include players unavailable through illness too!). :o

Title: Re: The Premiership 2017-2018 Thread
Post by: Dragontao on September 03, 2017, 12:22:26 PM
That total bullshit has been exposed in the press. He never had a medical. Decided to wait until he's fit.

Wouldn't be surprised if there has been a deal done to wait until January when his price will drop as he's closer to the end of his contract. Paying that kind of money for a player available on a free in the summer is just stupid, same as City with Sanchez.

Personally I'd rather we didn't sign Berkley. Not going to improve the first team.

Glad Ox didn't join us. Wanted to play in centre mid. Who the hell would he displace in out team on the wing or in the middle. I wouldn't even pick him ahead of Moses at wing-back. His stats from Arsenal are awful in terms of productivity (assists and goals).

Right now we should be looking to improve the first team if we can, not be spending stupid money on players who will warm the bench.

And Ray Wilkins has joined the LONG list of pundits that are baffled by Chelsea's bizarre decision to sell Matic to United. It seems like jman is the only person in the world that doesn't think it was a bad decision lol ;D
Title: Re: The Premiership 2017-2018 Thread
Post by: Dragontao on September 06, 2017, 12:09:11 AM
I think it was okay. If Utd hadn't bought Matic they might have bought someone better, and believe me there are a fair few better. Bakayoko for instance is a massive upgrade on Matic.

So it might have helped Utd but they;d have bought someone else anyway and nobody else was going to give us £40 million for Matic.

You'll realise his limitations eventually. He has his good games but he has periods during a season where he goes missing if things aren't going well - like our bad season a couple of years back.

Then there's the fact if we have belief in ourselves and the players we've bought, Utd were always going to be stronger this time round and if it helps Utd take points of of other top sides, then it may do us a favour in some respects. We've just got to make sure we win our games.

£40m is definitely a great price for a 29 year old - in that context, its a great deal - I never said anything about selling to one of our rivals.  Bakayoko has only played 1 game and will need time to settle - but he already looks a better prospect that Matic and much younger.

Anyone trying to suggest that Matic was as influential as Kante was last season (RW) is obviously talking bollocks.

United have beat Leicester, Swansea and West Ham and harv is giving it the biggun already lol - oh dear ;D

Like I've said before if we only have HALF the injuries that we had last season we'll win the Premiership. Well that's 3 weeks knocked off the transfer window starting next Summer. It wouldn't be so much of a problem if the rest of Europe did the same. Even if they started the transfer window 3 weeks earlier it still wouldn't do English clubs any good because they wouldn't be able to sign anybody from a European club. And now European clubs can buy players belonging to English clubs after the transfer window has closed leaving them unable to replace players.

Great idea ::) :-\ >:(

2-2 final score after a great second half from Stoke. Looks like Sparky must have thrown those tea cups around the dressing room during the break because Stoke were a completely different side when they came out for the second half. A point each was a fair result over the 90 minutes I think.

You can leave that there without a problem. It doesn't change the fact that those three first matches were the sort of matches that we drew last season. Stoke away is always a tough match for any side and we haven't beaten them since Fergie was at the club.

You won your first 3 matches last season... sounds like you're talking out your bum again  ::)

You beat Swansea away 3-1 last season and won your first 3 games, stop talking out ya bum.. Your defense looked as dodgy as it was last season, Jones and Darmian wouldn't get anywhere near Chelsea's first 11.
Title: Re: The Premiership 2017-2018 Thread
Post by: harv on September 11, 2017, 01:51:37 AM
Oops, my bad. I was thinking about Swansea at home.

But my point still stands, we struggled to beat the small sides like Southamton, Swansea, West Ham, Bournemouth, Hull, Watford and West Brom. And many of those draws or defeats were at home.

We've had a great start to the season and unless we have a shitload of injuries AGAIN then wise money would be on United to win the title.

As for our defence you might want to remember that since the Premiership started United have ALWAYS had one of the best defensive records in the league once the season is over. And even if we do concede a shitload of goals we have plenty of firepower up front and in the middle to win matches.

United are going to win the Premiership, Chelsea are going to get relegated :P

You won your first 3 games last season against (so-called) lesser opponents - and you finished nearly 30 points off the top of the table.
You've won your first 3 games this against (so-called) lesser opponents.. and you think you are going to win the league ;D ;D

Lukaku makes it 3. He should have got a booking for that celebration though.

De Gea has won this for us though and the scoreline REALLY flatters us.

Martial gets number 4 from the penalty spot.

On the balance of play a draw would have been a fair result tbh.

We're now in second place on goal difference with just one goal in it. Still, I can't complain too much about ONLY 21 goals scored and 2 goals conceded in 7 matches lol

We haven't played anyone any good so far though, but some of the matches that we've played and won convincingly so far are the ones that we struggled with last season so I'm VERY happy with the way things have gone so far. The red Scouse gits next after the international break.

Okay. Own up. Who broke the forums? lol :o ;D ;D ;D

United's first loss today against Huddlesfield, 2-1. United punished by 2 stupid errors by Matic and Lindelof who came on for Jones who has had yet another injury. If Jones could stay fit for more than 5 minutes he would be the best defender in the Premiership.

United denied a stonewall penalty in the first half when we were 2-1 down which could have changed the game but we didn't get it.

And Chelsea struggled to beat Watford AT HOME so at least jman isn't going to give me any grief for our result today lmfao ;D ;D ;D

With their 3-0 win over Burnley that's opened up a 5 point gap between us :(

We struggled to beat Watford (and were lucky not to be 4-1 down at one point) but we still beat them. You lost. YOu're not going to win the title. No second season glory for Mourinho. You'll give him a new contract and then he'll get a bigger payoff when you eventually sack him.

Good to see the real Matic starting to make an appearance.

A good result against Spurs, we won 1-0 with Martial getting the goal. Spurs deserved a point from that tbh but I'm not complaining too much. Matic won the MOTM award but I would have given it to Young myself.

Things probably would have been different if Kane was fit but it's looking like Spurs are a one man team tbh.

Oh well, I wasn't expecting arse to do us any favours, they're getting hammered 3-1 at the moment by the Bitters.

Half an hour until the Chelsea vs United match, here's United's line-up:

De Gea

Bailly Smalling Jones

Valencia Herrera Micki Matic Young

Lukaku Rashford

Bench: Romero, Darmian, Blind, McTominay, Fellaini, Lingard, Martial

Plenty of potential game-changers on the bench for United and Chelsea might struggle to contain Young as our left wing back as long as Maureen doesn't do what EVERYONE is expecting him to do and park the fucking bus.

Leave the ref alone, he's doing great 8)

0-0 at halftime and Chelsea have just edged the first half. Could still go either way but if Chelsea play the way they did in the first half I can see them winning the game.

One advantage that United have is that they have several potential game changers on the bench to come on - Fellaini, Lingard and/or Martial could be key to getting United 3 points.

Mourinho has always been like that Drags, it's just seeing it from the other side of the fence I think.

I'm not so sure, first time round there was a lot more humour to him, he was a wind up merchant. As time has gone on he has become more paranoid and seems bitter for some reason, like he feels he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

He wants to be seen in the same light as the Shankly or Fergie, even Pep gets ore credit in the media for his achievements, despite continually walking into ready made squads with oodles of cash to improve. Jose has at least had to rebuild a bit from time to time.

The reason he never wanted to follow Fergie directly at Utd was because he knew he would be on a hiding to nothing. A failure if he didn't win, riding on Fergie's coat tails if he did. So he swept in thinking he'd be the ssaviour but has not had a great deal of affection from the press and if he doesn't win it this year, it won't get any easier for him.

I seriously think he has developed a number of mental health issues.

No surprises in the team selection this afternoon for the Manchester derby, looks like 4 at the back:

De Gea

Valencia Smalling Rojo Young

Herrera Matic

Radford Lingard Martial

Lukaku

Plenty of pace up front to cause City problems on the break. Going to be an even game I think but we have the home advantage which will hopefully get us 3 points.

Bloody hell, we're only down to 3 injuries now!!! Fellaini is out until January, Bailly is out until March and no news on when Carrick is back. It's looking like his career is over to me, but I was expecting him to retire at the end of this season anyway.

So if we don't get any more injuries over the Christmas and New Year fixtures we could be down to just 2 injuries next month :o

Leicester vs United is 1-1 at halftime. United have dominated the first half but we haven't taken our chances and Leicester went ahead on a counter attack before Mata scored the equaliser.

Wanted to post earlier but had the privilege of having my puss sitting on my lap which doesn't happen that often and I couldn't reach my phone.

Burnley is always a tough match for us, although they haven't beaten us at home for donkey's years.

I missed the first goal because I've been having problems with streams again but the commentators said they were lucky to get it. Saw the second one which was a cracking free kick which De Gea came close to getting a hand to it, and before the goal we were laying siege to the Burnley goal.

2-0 to Burnley at halftime and the next goal is vital. :o

Not really, we've had just over half of the injuries we've had over the last three seasons...although I was right about the side luckiest with injuries winning the Premiership. It's City so far this year, Chelsea last year and Leicester the year before that. I can't see City throwing the league away now.
Title: Re: The Premiership 2017-2018 Thread

So if Huddersfield had zero injuries all season, they would be favourites to win the league?  There's a gulf in quality and consistency between city and United, that's the difference - even if city had more injuries, they would still be top, they've been fantastic at times this season with or without their best players.

I'm sure United will still get top 4, people forget how shit arsenal have been this season and spurs always bottle it.  However, not even putting up a title challenge is not good enough when you've spent as much as United have the past 2 seasons

Huddersfield with zero injuries would probably end up in the top half of the table. There's always one of the top 3 sides in the injury table getting relegated every season, it's why I predicted that Newcastle would go down this season because they've had injury problems almost as bad as us for the last 3 seasons. This season they've had a bit better luck so we might see them stay up.

United have had an average of 8 players injured EVERY WEEK for the last three seasons and we've now got that average down to 5 I think. And during those last three seasons we won 3 trophies. Any other club with those sort of injuries would end up being mid-table and without a trophy.

2-0 down at halftime and that's a half that Jones will want to forget. United have had a few good chances though. Spurs trying to contain Alexis is giving Young the opportunity to penetrate on the left but what I'd REALLY like to see is Martial on the left, Alexis in the number 10 position and Lingard on the right.

Worst performance in a decade. Had no problem selling Matic but Bakayoko is complete and utter crap.

We've spunked the best part of £100 million on mediocre midfielders in Bakayoko, Drinkwater and Barkley. How Bakayoko gets in ahead of Ampadu is beyond me.

Once again Chelsea have fucked up after winning the title. 4 fucking times they've done it now. What will happen, the board will roll on and they'll sack the manager who will end up somewhere like PSG or Real, be given money and will do well.

We've gone from shopping in Harrods to buying expensive shit in Lidls.

If you're referring to us playing defensive football and 'parking the bus' you may want to consider the fact that we've had 12 games this season in all competitions where we've scored 3 goals or more and we've also scored 4 more Premiership goals than your lot too.

And getting beaten by Spurs isn't anywhere near as bad as getting beat by Bournemouth lol

As for Bristol City, these things happen. It was a Cup upset. We've all had them in the past and we will all have more of them in the future. Chelsea were VERY close to getting knocked out by Norwich too.

Hazard is usually number 1 fouled in a season ;)

Well Sky Sports sources say that Chelsea are going to stick with Conte but we'll have to wait and see. He's looked VERY pissed off these last few weeks, it wouldn't surprise me if he quits tbh.

If he does go one way or the other he'll be the 6th manager in a row to lose his job after winning the Premiership which is quite a crazy stat. :o

4th, still in the champions league and still in the FA Cup.

So apart from being 6 points behind United and having spent considerably less in the last two seasons - we're in the exact same boat... and they've just offered their manager a new contract lol.. quite weird how different clubs view success.. if United are happy with a manager that guided their team to finish 24 points behind the champions last season and 13 points behind first place half-way through this season.. then good for them.

Personally I'm happy with Conte.. he has made some questionable calls and he's probably going to live and die by them in honesty - I dont think many Chelsea fans would want to have seen Costa leave.. and the bust-up with Luiz was never going to do the squad any favours... the absolute shower of shite we have played in the last 2 games is down to the players though.. I've rarely seen our team play that badly - so can only hope its a blip rather than anything else.. if Conte has lost the dressing room though then its only a matter of time before he gets sacked - he definitely won't quit (at worst it will be a "mutual" decision).

We drew 1-1 with Fulham in 2012 before beating Barca and going on to win the Champions League..

We have West Brom and Hull, both at home before we play in the Champions League - plenty of time to get the spirits back up and start a run going again - we are the last English team to win the Champions League so we've got more experience than anyone ;)

The difference Conte and Maureen is that Conte looks like a beaten man going by his last few post-match interviews. If he hasn't lost the dressing room he's not too far off it imo.
Title: Re: The Premiership 2017-2018 Thread

Well, as you pointed out in another thread, drawing to a team near the bottom of the league is a worse result than losing to a team that is further up the table - and you actually lost to Newcastle...so your logic dictates that result as being far worse than both our losses to Bournemouth and Watford put together ;D

Fact is, we were champions last season - Conte did that... United finished 24 points behind and finished 6th - their second worst final position since 1990.
You are already 16 points behind the leaders this season and definitely no guarantee of a top 4 finish.

£90m for Pogba.. and subbed for Carrick lol ;D

United losing 1-0 at half-time but the game has been pretty even. Very few chances created for either side and United's passing in particular has let them down.

Although its disgusting, there's far worse - and the driver doesn't come off too good from this, what a pillock, driving whilst filming - trying to goad a reaction which has obviously been going on a while before the filming started.. hence why the daughter tells him to "stop it"

I hope he keeps his job, he's one of the best pundits Sky Sports have.. unprofessional and shameful and he's deserves to take a punishment - but no reason to sack him.  Do football players get their contract terminated for spitting at someone else?

I've said on here before that players spitting at other players deserve to get banned for life, including Evans years ago. I'd also love to see players spitting on the ground getting fined too. When I used to play years ago I used to swallow it, no reason why other players can't do the same.

I'd also love to see police officers giving on the spot fines for people spitting in the street too.

Well I can't quite believe that we still have a chance of top 4 (3rd even) - providing we win our last two games, Liverpool have to win to finish ahead of us of goal difference, and spurs need 4 points from their remaining two.

I can't see either of them slipping up that badly unfortunately, regardless of what happens in the FA Cup final, its been a crap season for us and I think Conte is destined for the scrap pile, champions league or no champions league.  I think he's a good tactical manager, but too many bust-ups with key players along with criticizing the transfer policy will not serve him well.. Costa should never have been sold and we'd have been much better up front with him there - you can see already when you have a big guy up top (Giroud) that the team play much better, Morata is great with his head but doesn't have the physical presence we need.
