How Close Have You Been..?
« on: April 20, 2013, 06:46:58 PM »
After watching and enjoying various cop shows over the years I've started thinking about murder and attempted murder.

How close have you all been to a murder or attempted murder..? When I was living on Green Lanes, North London someone was brutally murdered about 5 yards from the entrance to the block of flats I was living in. The victim had his head almost completely cut off, after talking to a policeman who was doing the rounds for witnesses he told me there was a tiny bit of skin from the back of the spinal column to the back of the neck keeping his head on :o

After I moved from there a couple of years later to Warwick Gardens in what I thought was a nicer area (although it was probably only 500 yards away from Green Lanes as the crow flies) there was another murder about a hundred yards from my building, I could see the house and the forensics people from my kitchen window. :-\

I then was right in the middle of an incident of attempted murder (although the Police could only charge the guy with GBH with intent for some reason) at work in the Queens Head where I worked. My boss got a bottle across the back of his head and one in the throat, the latter nicked his carotid artery. A couple of millimeters to one side and he would have bled to death in around 4 minutes :o It was only down to me being out before the doorman and decking the guy that was standing over him with a broken bottle that things weren't considerably worse.

The pub closed down and I moved to Tottenham, since I've been here there have been another two murders, one about 400 yards away in one direction and the other about 600 yards away in the opposite direction :o

And there's another one a couple of years ago, whilst geographically it isn't that close (although still in Tottenham) it was the brutal murder of my mate's Dad who was in his 90s and beaten to death by some mad woman with a wine bottle.

Anyone else being this close to so many murders or is it just me..? :-\ :o :-\

I think I need to move out of Tottenham.

Bloke I used to go to Chelsea with, his arsehole neighbour stabbed his wife to death. Had the cheek to write to my mate from nick and ask for a character reference.

Was a murder a couple of streets away from where I live last year.

The murderer in this case was something to do with the allotments where one of the blokes I work with has a plot.

My old boxing coach's son was cleared of murder a few years back as he acted in self defence.

Story below is before it went to court

Luckily for him there was CCTV footage which backed up his claims of self defence and the fact that the kid who died was the one who was the agressor and he'd tried to walk away.

Not sure if this counts. I was stabbed in the arm at school (only a 3 inch blade though) by an older kid who objected to me taking our ball back off them after they had stolen it from us. By the time they pulled me off him, he'd gone blue because I'd been crushing his windpipe while punching him in the face. After he'd been resuscitated and I'd been patched up, the deputy head of year (in my school, such an incident was deemed so minor it didn't even warrant a trip to the head of year, let alone the headmaster) made us shake hands.
