I have a love/hate relationship with 'Okay, just ONE more go' games lol

They tend to drive me crazy because it's VERY difficult to stop playing the things. Only one VR game has done this to me so far, Into The Dead, an endless zombie runner game that I had to force myself into stopping playing lol ;D

It got plenty of bad reviews but I loved it. You're basically running in first person view across corn fields full of zombies and you either have to avoid or kill the zombies with weapons that pop up every now and then. I think most people didn't think much of it because it made them want to reunite with their lunch but I'm completely immune to sim sickness so I didn't have any problems with it at all.

Any games with scores or times to beat I start to get crazy obsessive with pretty quickly lmfao ;D

Think I'm going to start modding Fallout 4 VR, starting with the Unofficial bug fixes patch. Bloody thing keeps on crashing. Surprisingly I haven't had many crashes with Skyrim VR yet, just one so far.

And Bethesda also added hands in the last Skyrim VR patch, makes a HUGE difference to the immersion of the game seeing hands instead of Touch controllers. And as an added bonus it means that Arvina can grab female NPC's bits for a bit of lesbo action lol ;D :-* ;D

Been playing The Witness a fair bit since it was on GWG last month... At first I was very underwhelmed but now I think it is a fantastically difficult addictive puzzle game. So many times I think I work out what I'm doing and then everything changes, it's very rewarding and frustrating at the same time.

I have to admit, I've used a guide on a few puzzles, probably about 10 or so, mainly because it was so fucking difficult to work out what I was supposed to do.. but then later on I found much easier puzzles along the same vein which probably would have made me not need to use a guide.  It's great that you can visit any area at any time, but it would be nice to see which areas are easier to stop you floundering and wasting time.

Got a few areas to find/finish off, some areas are a pain to even work out how to even enter, though... currently wasting a lot of time trying to figure out the swamp.

Is that the area with the bird sounds? That was my least favourite part of what I thought was a very good game.
Pretend I have a cool signature thing here.
I did, but the host site died and I can't be arsed to find an alternative right now...

Have started playing The Mage's Tale again since they FINALLY added smooth rotation to the game. They added free locomotion ages ago in a patch (free locomotion means that you can use the analog stick to move your character rather than teleport all over the place) but for some reason known only to themselves they had an annoying snap rotation which turns your character 45 degrees at a time when you move the analog stick to turn.

So now they've got both free locomotion AND smooth turning. The game is excellent so far, launching fireballs and electricity at goblins using the Touch controllers is VERY satisfying and it's a genre that I've ALWAYS loved - an old-school dungeon crawler.

It has a mechanic where you can transport yourself to your base which has a bloody great big cauldron in it and as you pick ingredients up for new spells a giant frog appears and you throw the ingredients into his mouth so that they appear next to the cauldron when you transport there. You then walk over to the cauldron and throw these ingredients in to make new spells.

It's a REALLY cool game. ;D

Yeah that area was crap - but at least it was short.  I managed to complete it over the BH weekend.. although had to look up how to access the Caves (as I missed it) - and attempting to do the Challenge at the end of the game with a hangover wasn't the best idea in the world - but I did manage to do it after 2 hours (you can't cheat at all on the Challenge - all randomly generated puzzles and you have a time limit, pausing the game causes it to reset) - good luck with that one lol.

Finished A Way Out last night - the last 30 minutes of the game is great.. the games a bit short and limited, but it was definitely fun in places and I loved the new spin they put on co-op gaming - worth a go at £18 which is what I paid for it anyway.

My favourite thing about PS+ is finding little gems I'd never normally have played. Games like Everybody's gone to the rapture, Gone Home, Never Alone, Limbo and The Walking Dead to name some of my favoyrites so far.

Just finishing Hue which is a great little platformer where you solve puzzles by changing the colour of the background. Hoping to find many more in the future.

Yeah, most of those appeared on Games With Gold at some point, definitely been some good indie games, I just finished Superhot over the weekend, quite short but interesting.

Xbox Game Pass is pretty good for that too, its got Hue on at the moment (I haven't played it), I like a puzzle game, just didn't look/sound very good... but I might give it a go.  I've been downloading loads of games from it recently - ReCore was pretty good, just started playing DarkSiders 2 - I already like how it fits into the first game and I downloaded theHunter: Call of the Wild last week - lol... was a bit precarious at first, it seems wrong hunting and killing poor innocent animals (rather than slaughtering humans in so many games I have) - but good news is that I'm absolutely crap at it.. its tough, I think I've shot 4 deer in about 4 hours playing it lol - the difficultly level makes the game quite unappealing - its more of a walking simulator than anything.  But State of Decay 2 being released on XGP next week - looking forward to that.

What does the flat version of SuperHOT play like? The VR version is excellent. Time only moves when you move so it's a cross between a strategy game and an FPS game. It works REALLY well in VR. The VR version is also VERY short but has replay value due to an endless mode.

Bloody hell, LA Noire The VR Case Files is pretty buggy. The interviews are frequently broken either by the pencil not triggering your questions and by the Good Cop/Bad Cop/Accuse options being missing. And I also managed to screw up the scale of my cop somehow, it looked like I was controlling Trump lol :o ;D

Fuck. Oculus have just updated their Content Policy for games that will be allowed on the Oculus Store.

Quote
Content Guidelines

Here are some basic content standards that we apply to all apps and games. The following is not accepted in the Oculus Store:

  • Pornography, including content for the purpose of sexual gratification.
  • Excessively violent content (including but not limited to: torture, rape, child abuse, animal abuse, cannibalism, glorification of gore, and dismemberment).
  • Hate speech, bullying, molestation, or harassment.
  • Real-money gambling.
  • Applications directed to children or users under the age of 13.
[li]
[/li][/list]

All quite reasonable and indeed expected apart from one thing - no dismemberment. Wtf?!!?!?

I've just posted on the Oculus Developer forum for clarification but if they've suddenly decided not to allow any dismemberment in any games on their Store then I'm going to have to do a bit of redesign. I was planning on having players needing to cut the thumbs off high ranking crew members to gain access to important parts of the ship but looks like I won't be allowed to now.

Fucking ridiculous. Dismemberment has been a part of video gaming for more than 30 fucking years. If they're doing this then you can wave goodbye to decent horror games and decent games with melee combat.

I'm SERIOUSLY pissed off at the moment. >:(
