The UFC/MMA And Boxing Thread
« on: April 14, 2017, 09:17:27 AM »
I dunno how many of you watch combat sports but I'm a bit of a fanatic especially when it comes to MMA (no prizes for guessing)

Anyone excited for any events coming up?

Joshua Vs Klitschko fight coming up soon and a few decent UFC cards, especially excited for Swanson Vs Lobov that should be a very exciting fight.

Any predictions for Joshua Klitschko?

If no one has any interest in this thread you'll probably find me in here talking to myself and making some terrible predictions..

Iiiiiiiiiiiiittttt'ssss tttiiiiiiiiiiimmmeee!!

I'm a boxing fan, been to a fair few Ricky Hatton fights back in the day and some Calzaghe fights, also got tickets for kel brooks fight at bramall lane!

I think Joshua will have too much for klitschko, he's got to beat him!

Kessler coming out of retirement is interesting, he'll give a few of the super middleweights some trouble!

Your a lucky man Booker, would have loved to see tho's guys fight in their prime.. I watched them growing up through my teen's, still remember watching Hatton Vs Tszyu with my mum and step Dad, that was pure excitement seeing a British fighter beat one of the PFP best at the time.

My step dad's Welsh so always had a soft spot for Calzaghe as well, and with the skills he had it was hard not to admire him regardless! Miss tho's old days tbh mate, get a few mates to mines for the boxing and have a drink and enjoy the fights.

Do you watch MMA Booker? I'm a big fan of both but definately prefer MMA now, love how the best fight the best and no one cares how many losses a guy has. Boxing went crazy with the obsession of staying undefeated.. Still great when you get the big fights tho mate so definately not bashing it, but exciting fights seem harder to come by these days.

Fancy AJ as well mate, big step up in class tho so should definately find out what he's made of after this one lol big pressure on a young guys shoulders tho, pretty much needs to beat him after Fury did and infront of 90,000 that will be about as jittery as it gets lol I hope he does the job tho!  8)

British boxing is thriving at the moment tho Booker and plenty good fights on the horizon! We're getting the benefits of boxing not being as popular in America now, most champions we've ever had! Would love to see Brooke vs Thurman! That would be amazing, tough fight on his hands against Spence tho, defo looking forward to that one as well!

Defo a beast Chris, has all the tools to do it that's for sure. I wonder how he handles big pressure tho, that's the question mate. Dillian Whyte wobbled him at one point but came back strong after, should be a good fight as long as Wlad doesn't jab him to death lol

Agree delboy, Be shocking if he does jab him to death. I cant see Joshua not getting into him though at one point. And when he does his pure power and accuracy should shine through. His combos are lethal

Agreed mate definately a big step up in competition but I think he's ready for it. Especially with Klitschko getting older. Still have some doubts though as the only man to recently beat Klitschko was Fury who is taller and has a better reach than him. Generally Wladamir is good against smaller more powerful guys ( Haye being a great example) still feel like Joshua will get the job done though. Only a couple of weeks to go mate, wish I was going!

Just realised Joshua has a 1 inch reach advantage over him... Definately picking Joshua now. Maybe even a KO in the first 6..

Yeah boxing fan here, not into UFC though.

I don't think Klitschko is done yet, but he's up against it in this one with a 90000 crowd against him & not having fought in so long.

Joshua is good, no doubt about it, but he's yet to fight a world class opponent in my opinion so this will still be a challenge. To make the jump from having big potential to being the best, he'll have to beat Klitschko & probably go on and beat the likes of Fury & other top heavyweights in the near future.

Some good points there Davy, I think that's why I'm so excited to see the fight, so many questions to answer for Joshua. And the atmosphere will be insane in Wembley :)

I hope he can do it, if he doesn't I hope the fans stay behind him, still young and loads of good fights in his future. Joshua Wilder would be the biggest along with Fury if he can get his act together

I was at the Hatton v Tszyu in Manchester, what a night that was!

I'm more of a boxing fan than MMA/UFC, I only really follow the big names in the later, UFC is brutal!

Yeah I'm buzzing for it too! Hopefully it'll be a great fight, although Klitschko might try and turn it into a borefest. I'm going to say Joshua on points but wouldn't be that surprised if it's the other way about

I occasionally watch boxing or UFC but don't really follow either that much.

I'm more into non scripted things like WWE lol  ;)
