TCL 132 - Last 16 ResultsArsenal Invincibles 1-0 Green Bay ParkersBack to back holders Arsenals Invincibles somehow managed to advance into the last 8 when they really should have been given a pasting in a one sided game which saw the away side chalk up 63mins v 0mins tactical advantage. Maybe it was the 2 subs at KO and not 3 or the Nutter all game in oppose to a mix of Nutter and Normal by the home side... Some games are just hard to explain and this is one of them. The winning goal game from Dennis Bergkamp in the 63rd min with a lucky shot that sneaked just inside the post - (Even my goal was lucky) - The holders will need to buck their ideas up if they are going to go any further in this competition and commiserations to G.B.P who i'm sure will be back to fight another day!
Cubana Villains 5-0 The Huckley WayA five star performance paired with a near perfect tactical display from Cubana sees them sail into the last 8. Goals from Chanda Lear and Dinah Sore put the home side in control after only 21 mins and it turned out to be a one sided show from then on. The away sides Use Wings plan clearly didn't work today and The Huckley Way will have to go back to the drawing board on this if they are to ever go further in TCL. Deca also put faith in the starting 11 he had with no subs being used all game. Abbie Birthday was the MOTM after a fine defensive performance.
Jellybellies 2-0 The REAL MadridOn a very Windy Day and rock solid pitch it was Conference 8 side Jellybellies who came out victorious 2-0. Both sides opted to go with a 4-5-1 set up, Carl Arm put the home side ahead in the 41st min with a belter from his own half, Unfortunately for The REAL Madrid in the build up to that goal Frank Furter landed awkwardly and it was later confirmed he suffered a Broken Arm.
The away side stuck with their plan for the majority of the 2nd half and was still well in the game until the 73rd min when Xavier Breath found space to divert a powerful header into the top corner and seal the victory. Jellybellies into the last 8!!
Hoarse Whisperers 0-1 Realale MadridIn a closely fought game where both sides opted for different formations and different boots on a fine day with great playing conditions. The away side were on top for much of the first half but couldn't find the break through. Wee Storie had to go off for some temporary treatment after a clash of heads with his own post. Into the 2nd half and Fabian Delph who for some reason was Time Wasting in the 50th min with the scores 0-0 received a Yellow Card and rightly so!
Bang on 60mins and the first and only goal of the game arrived - Realale Madrid opted for an attacking style whilst the home team dropped deep into defence. ...May received the ball and somehow Beckham / Alonso style scored from his own half - This seems to be a day for great goals!! The C8 side progress into the last 8!
Super Imps 3-0 Thanet InvictaIn what can only be described as awful playing conditions the Conference one outfit won convincingly 3-0. To be honest it was only due to the tireless work of the Super Imps groundsman / staff that this game was on and not postponed.
The home side dropped into a defensive style from KO and it paid dividend straight away and on 14mins with help from a Pigeon distracting the Thanet GK Luke Waterfall poked them into a 1-0 lead. Continued dominance in the 1st half saw Asif Bimajik round off a great team moved and put the hosts 2-0 up on 41mins from just inside the penalty area.
At Half Time the away side opted for a Counter Attacking style as did the home side and the result was rounded off on 71mins from Justin Ciderpost with a great chip from the left wing.
In the 90th min with the game up both sides received yellow cards and in the melee the Super Imps GK suffered mild concussion.
The Flashhearts 2-1 S.L.B Aguias With not much between either side tactically (24mins v 30mins - if my calculations were right) in a topsy turvy game it was The Flashhearts who came out on top 2-1 - Maybe team strength was the deciding factor in a game which could really of gone either way. It was the C1 side who progress though.
Naruto Uzumaki scoring both goals in the 21st and 64th Minute.
After late pressure Cranium score what proved to be a consolation in the 84th Min.
In what was a very odd 15 or so mins from HT - SLB Luisao suffered a broken arm in the 45th min and somehow managed to stay on to get booked for getting his todger out in the 63rd min and was booked for indecent exposure - - MOTM performance I say
Menagerie 1-2 Winter MilanThe away side progress with a 91st Extra Time Winner!!
The home side opted to stay with the same 11 all game whereas the away side made 3 quick subs at KO.
After being completely outplayed for the first 38mins somehow Winter Milan took the leak with a flick on.
Menagerie came out fighting at HT and straight from KO put the pressure on and after a scramble the ball fell kindly at the feet of Casey Needzit who slotted home, Needzit was booked for obstruction shortly afterwards, A late late scissor kick from striker Matthew Houck settled it.
Looking at the match report Menagerie won an astonishing 90min - 0 Mins Tactical Advantage in this game if my eyes read correctly. Winter Milan like myself extremely lucky to progress.
Ocean City Orioles 2-1 CSI-Westgate on SeaLate Late show from OCO's Welbeck and record signing Aubameyang downs Westgate!
Blustery snowy conditions cast major doubt before this game but the underfloor heating and a load of winter grit (purchased from Winter Milan of course) at the Orioles Stadium did it's job.
The away side will be furious not to have raced into a 2-3 goal lead seeing as the first 60mins TA was in their favour, their only goal coming in the 20th min from Cote de Pabo.
In the 75th min OCO went for it but ended up matching Westgate's Counter Attack for the last 15mins, after a well drilled set piece the ball fell kindly to Danny Welbeck who could not miss from the goal line...1-1!!
After Danny Welbeck got booked for faking an injury in the 90th min Liz Vassey from the away side actually got a real injury - A sprained wrist. Into extra time and it was the home sides record signing who bagged the win after a lovely move down the wing. Into the last 8 for OCO but again extremely lucky to be there.
