World Cup 4 The Debate

Hi Dick Collins here with the 2nd edition of Sundayleague World Cup 4 The Debate. Joining me today to chew over Group C and Group D are Barry Neville and Ben Hoddle. Welcome guys.

BN Im going to look at Group C. I like this group its got some heavy hitters in Menagerie, Ocean City Orioles and Green Bay Parkers and then you got the dangerous experience of The KC Shuffle and Believable Tekkers. Now for me Dick Menagerie as long as he doesn't have The Friendly League hangover wins the group. Ocean City Orioles Green Bay Parkers Green Bay Parkers Ocean City Orioles its a toss up but I will go Ocean City Orioles on the basis I dont like Liverpool. If any of these feel the end of season fatigue then either KC or Tekkers will be their to pounce. Its a cracking group and I for 1 am looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

Thanks there to Barry Neville for his unbiased views on the teams in Group C. Ben Hoddle what about Group D whats your thoughts

BH Thanks Mr Collins well 1 team name screams out at me and thats Super Imps. Up until a few seasons ago you couldn't get close to this team and I cant believe hes not a World Champion, hes won everything else. Hope the pressure doesn't get to him this time but I know someone who can give some help if he calls out to me. I reckon Super Imps wins the group by 8+ points, theres no one of his level here. Now 2nd WOW its up for grabs and who shows the consistency. I like Corkscrew but has his team gone over the cliff, Huckley Way mixes it with the big boys but cant pull off that big win and what about Rathpeacon, talk about the nearly man of Sundayleague, another glorious failure awaits no doubt. The Delhi Dilemma and Wizards are dark horses but I can't see them consistently pulling off the results. I will go Super Imps and The Huckley Way to progress.

Thank you Ben Hoddle for your honest views there, maybe some teams will rise to prove you wrong

That concludes The World Cup 4 The Debate for another day. Joining me tomorrow to discuss Group E and Group F are Ian Wrong and Bill Thompson

World Cup 4 The Debate

Hi Dick Collins here, im here for the 3rd edition of The World Cup 4 Debate. Joining me to discuss Groups E and Group F are Ian Wrong and Bill Thompson. Welcome guys lets begin with Group E and Ian Wrong.

IW This for me is the toughest league to predict. Come the end of the group stage I reckon there will be around 3 points covering the top 4. Winter Milan are the favourite and you can see why, the squad oozes quality but consistency is a question mark. I like Realale Madrid there always there or thereabouts and they have to be confident of qualifying. Then you got the likes of Corinthian Casuals and CSI Westgate On Sea, two teams on their day can beat the very best, if they qualify then they will both be dangerous opponents. Also throw into the mix Rebel Rovers whose fortunes have transformed over the past two seasons. This is going to be an exciting group that is for sure. For me when all is said and done I will go Realale Madrid as winners with Winter Milan a narrow 2nd.

Thanks Ian it certainly does look a tasty group and hopefully it will be on a knife edge until the last kick.

Now onto group f and Bill Thompson whats your thoughts on the group

BT So Ian Wrong thinks group e is tough well hes wright but I can make a case for about 5 teams with serious ambitions of qualifying. Cubana Villains have World Cup experience and know how to qualify and go deep in the competition. The Pompey Chimes have made waves in the past few seasons and the team goes from strength to strength, hes going to be there in the mix for sure. Then you have former World champion Univ Craoiva a team that on its day competes with the very best but recently those days have disappeared, but you can't count them out. The Real Madrid have produced this season in all competitions and they must be full of confidence heading into the competition. Finally for me The Rumour Mill a team who seems to thrive on the big stage but consistency seems to be an issue at the moment and again they can't be counted out. Im going with recent form and I think The Real Madrid win with The Pompey Chimes a close 2nd.

Thanks there for your insight into the groups guys lets see how the groups unfold. Joining me tomorrow on The Debate to discuss the final two groups will be Tony Coffee and Barry Redknapp

World Cup 4 The Debate

Dick Collins here for the final pre tournament installment of World Cup 4 The Debate. Joining me to discuss Group G we have Tony Coffee and to round off the Debate we have Barry Redknapp to discuss Group H.

So Tony Coffee what do you make of the runners and riders of Group G

TC I've waited all week to get on The Debate and when I found out I would be discussing Group G I was really enthused. I can make a case for at least 5 teams minimum getting into the last 16. Jellybellies have to go into the group as favourites being a former World Champion and competing in the high echelons of the game for such a long time. The Seg and King Kennys Army are full of beans right now having achieved or achieving some top results. Thanet Invicta are a consistent team who churn out results and will be hard to beat, then of course we have Didier Drogba FanClub a team synonymous with this competition, im sure he will have his charges ready for the challenges ahead. So getting down to the decision, im going with Jellybellies as group winners with King Kennys Army just to get past The Seg for the final place.

Thank you Tony Coffee for his insight into what clearly will be a challenging group, so Barry Redknapp its over to you as we have a final look at Group H

BH For me this Group is pretty clear. The Borg although not competing at his very best right now, goes into the group as the clear favourite and I cant see anything to go against the odds. FC Town of Luton are a tough team to play against and their consistency and experience will be key if they are to get through to the next stage. Then we have a group of experienced teams who are all capable of pulling off those big wins which they have in the past. Naval and Military lead the way after recent successes in their private league games. HH Beticos and Corinthian Clowns are 2 of the longest serving teams so they will know all the tricks of the trade and have both improved their performances over recent seasons. So for me I think its clear The Borg wins the group and Im going with FC Town of Luton to grab 2nd but to pushed close by the chasing pack.

Thank you to Barry Redknapp and of course Tony Coffee for their opinions on these tough looking groups. Thank you to the other 6 pundits for their insight

Tomorrow on the eve of the tournament we sit down with the key protagonists and discuss their views on World Cup 4.

With World Cup 4 just a day away it was great to catch up with those managers who at this very moment all have their eyes on capturing The World Cup Crown

Here at Shy Sports we provide a detailed description on what the tournament holds for all managers told by themselves.

First to meet up is Rekrap Avengers

im hoping i could maybe sneak a 2nd place finish in the league, anywhere in the knockout stages I would be happy!
my biggest rival on the game is probably wizards as I've been in with them in FL and the result could go either way! surreal Madrid and the victors are my league rivals!
I'm pretty happy with my year got really close to winning my FL division and it's a tight finish in the league! feel like my team is improving a lot and hopefully soon I can challenge the top teams

clearly a team on the up and fancying their chances of qualifying from their group

Now it's time to meet FC Town of Luton

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4
Get out of my group. Seem to draw the Borg regularly the multifaceted git! Also interestingly My Brother in Law with his bunch of misfits White Hart Lane are also in the group. Then out in the quarters I guess...🙄

2. Who is your biggest rival
Angel rrrs. Don’t know why but I hate the last second change of tactics
plus she’s holding me off very successfully in C8 ATM.

3. How has your season gone.
Not bad. Not even a sniff of relegation battle in FL1, won a private league and TCL qualification in the bag. Only downside is mucked up the friendly league I need the 5000 credits... come on Rich 😃 let me in!

Confidence is high and will be a tough team to beat

We now sit down with former World Champion Jellybellies

Hi Iwopp
1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

Glory!
We've been training hard for this one, with a strict diet of pie n chips and an endless suply of lager.

2. Who is your biggest rival

Too many to mention, but i can never get the better of those pesky Imps, Flashfarts, or Borg

3. How has your season gone.

Terrible!
I've never had so many long term injuries.
Add on my brain freeze, when i forget to change moral..

But the bellies are fighting fit at the moment and like a coiled spring, waiting for Word Cup 4 to start!

Clearly Jellybellies are ready to recapture past glory, but can they do it

Now a word with Believable Tekkers

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

I was hoping to steel a 2nd place, and qualify from the group stages, but after seeing my group, it looks like a big ask. People say there isn't a group of death, but the top 3 seeds in my group are top of there x-1-1's, one of them will miss out of the group stages, and if I get a proper say in it, I'm hoping to make sure at least 2 will ;).

2. Who is your biggest rival

I'd say Winter Milan, I think I have my lowest win rate against him than any other manager. I've got through him a couple of times though in the Gold Cups thanks to the random extra time goal, but I can't recall a time I've beat him in Normal time. Thanks for not putting him in my group :).

3. How has your season gone.

I tried mixing things up this season and decided to stop studying opponents and focus on my own tactics...I was hoping it will take me to the next level, but I've seen mixed results.

I got to two gold cup finals, winning one and losing one which isn't too shabby.

But in 2-1-1, it's the same old story, a terrible start to the season, and I'm playing catch-up. I think I lost 3 or 4 of my first 5 games and since then I've gone on a big run of maybe only losing 1 in the last 20. It's annoying I can't start like that, as it would make me a title contender, as my team is strong enough.

I've entered PL's this season, to give me a pre-season for next year. People keep talking about Gelling being key, so I'll see if it improves the way I start next season, as that's the only thing I can believe causing this issue. Or, I'm just the Sunday League version of Everton and I can never start a season well, we'll see.

If they put as much effort into on the field play as they have here, Tekkers could go far

Now a time to meet with the Rathpeacon manager

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4
I'm not going to win the competition but a realistic goal might be to finish in the top three in my group.

2. Who is your biggest rival
I dont really have any rivals but I have been in the same division as Jimbo for a while and this season we are in FL3. I never beat him in any competition until a few weeks ago and I beat him again today!

3. How has your season gone.
I'm fourth in FL3 and sixth in 3-1-1 so that's not bad. I've finished fourth in FL3 twice before so but it's only my second season in 3-1-1. Top eight was my goal, I finished 9th last season so it looks like I might do better this season, fingers crossed.

a tough team who are playing down their chances

Now it's time to meet debutant The Red Dragon

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

To qualify for the next stage

2. Who is your biggest rival

almost everybody but the obvious Borg,Imps,King Kenny
Apologies to all those i haven't mentioned

3. How has your season gone.

having recently rejoined in Conf 1 have decide to work my way through the divisions to have time to train my players

clearly confidence is high and everyone will need to be aware of this dangerous opponent

Up next one of the favourites Menagerie

1) Menagerie are in quite a tough group for WC4. Ocean City Orioles have always caused problems for my boys in the past. Believable Tekkers have beaten me a handful of times in FL5 and FL4 when we both joined. The KC Shuffle are my nearest rivals in 7-1-1, who have also caused a few winces in previous league matches. But even if I did proceed to the next round, I don't often tend do well in knockout tournaments!!! I have never made it past the quarter finals of any major SL tournament. So I would say that it would be a huge effort to make it to the semi-finals of World Cup 4. Anything beyond that would be a tremendous bonus!

2) My rivals change from season to season, although I would be lying if I didn't say that the Flashhearts are keeping me on my toes at the minute. They are the Germany of SL... fierce and frightening! I always dread our games. I would also say the same for Jellybellies, too, as I often get a sinking feeling every time I discover that I am due to play them in afternoon matches. And a special shoutout to Deca's Aston Villians, my local rivals in 7-1-1 and FL1. Fantastic manager who has left HUGE hand prints on my arse on more than a dozen occasions in the past.

3. This season has been my best season yet. My players are currently in their prime (with 3/4 more seasons to go until decline). I came straight up from FL2 this season and have dominated the top two spaces of FL1 for most of the season (though, it is squeaky bum time at the minute against the Flashhearts... both of us thirsty for the title). I did NOT expect this to happen in my first ever season in FL1, so it has been a thrill! And I have done great in 7-1-1, too, having (almost) defended my title for the second season running.

No time like now for this in form team

It's time to meet another debutant in Wizards FC

Just to qualify would be nice but will be tough as a young squad!

Early days to call a rival as only 2nd season although played many years ago!

1st season I’m 3-1-1 an such a tough league so with a young squad to keep my head above water was the aim an also to be promoted to FL4 which I achieved.

clearly not expecting much but this is when teams are at their most dangerous

Now time to meet debutant and in form King Kennys Army

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4
I'm looking to qualify from the group. There are some very tough teams in my group and I'm not sure I could do it but I can dream. If I get to the knockouts I can't see a win but you never know.

2. Who is your biggest rival
My biggest rival is Jimbo and his Pompey Chimes. We've played against each other constantly after joining the game the day after him.
Also Mr c. It's a poor rivalry, he always wins but I will beat him one day I'm sure.

3. How has your season gone.
I've had a good season. 3rd in 611 in my 1st top flight season. 1st in FL3 which is my biggest competition. The team are progressing well. Great position to push on.

ignore this team at your peril

Fresh from Champions League glory Arsenals Invincibles manager has stopped by

What are your aspirations for World Cup 4
Firstly the main aim for both of my teams is to get out of the group stage. I always aim higher and will want to win both groups of course. I think Group A and C are both very tough and Group C could be a "Group of death" 4/5 teams in that group that can all beat each other on any given day. I think myself, Menagerie and Green Bay will all run eachother close and it will be a scrap. In group A Deca is the one i'll be keeping a close eye on.

2. Who is your biggest rival
In term of SL in General I would say The Borg, Being best friends and all adds that extra edge to our games with the chat and fallout after. With me coming back from a long absence aiming to have the amazing record he does gives me the desire to do well and push on, tactically very hard to beat. I have a lot to make up but i'm doing well so far in my opinion in less than a year back on the game.

3. How has your season gone.
Best season so far. Picked up the Super Cup with the Invincibles and won the ICC with Ocean City Orioles. love the trophy that goes with it! 2 out of 4 teams in TCL semi final so a real chance with that again. Closing in on FL1 spot after going top in FL2 today, really good season!
4-1-1 has gone well, all but wrapped the title up for a 2nd season, this season was easier but its a real shame DVG, Delboy, Floriana, are not up there as they have been as C4 was the toughest conference and most active by far but not as much anymore. OCO may take the two 4-1-1 titles and move to a new Conference in the coming season for a new challenge as I enjoy the variety of playing different teams that's why I moved A.I into C6 where that is now a really good league to be in and myself, borg and KKA have had a real battle this season.

can he add the World Cup to his recent conquests

Up next Realale Madrid

What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

Top 2 to ensure qualification. Quarterfinals or better would a decent result.

2. Who is your biggest rival

I dont really have a rival. there are a lot of decent mangers in SL and the major challenge to beat them. In all the time i have played this game i have never spent more than 4000 on a player. Trying to stay competitive in FL1 and all the cup challenges against the 'big spenders' are what keeps me logging in season after season.

3. How has your season gone.

Very poor if the truth be told. League results have been very indifferent. Conf 8 goes pretty deep with decent managers who are committed to preparing their teams. i quite fancied a crack at the title this season but Martin and Lynne are on fire this time around and are battling it out between them. Will have another crack in ten days time :)

experience should win out and a good run is expected

Now let's meet the manager from Spartak

!: To win it.

2: The Seg.

3: Not very good, I had a period when I couldn't get on line due to computer problem, that put me down the bottom but with four games to go I have a fighting chance to stay up.

its not gone well recently but form has started to return

Let's meet debutant Wizards now

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

To improve on my 8th seeding and not come bottom of my group!!!

2. Who is your biggest rival
Whoever seeded 7th in my group.

3. How has your season gone
Tool my eye off the ball in FL4 and missed promotion narrowly. So a bit disappointing on that front.

playing his chances down but don't be complacent

Up next World Cup runner up for the past two times Aston/Cubana Villains

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4
To win, i got to the final last time with my Cuban Villains and lost

2. Who is your biggest rival
Too many to mention

3. How has your season gone.
Not good so far

will be hoping to right the wrong

Up next is one of the favourites The Flashhearts

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

Although my team strength isnt what it used to be im in it to win it!

2. Who is your biggest rival

Because we seem to find ourselves up against each other at every juncture its the Super Imps. Hes always pipping me in finals >:(

3. How has your season gone.

Scrappy in Conference 1 for all concerned i think but im happy to have a solid lead so late in the season, happy to be 2nd via goal difference too in FL1. As always ive under performed in the gold cups but hey... Its only a game lol

beat him and glory awaits

Now let's meet the CSI Westgate on Sea manager

My aspirations for the world cup are to go as far as possible as always

My biggest rival would be Super Imps, I can never get anything from them.

My season has not gone as well as recent seasons but this can be down to a slight rebuild and some very long injuries.

ever improving is this the time to shine

Up next we have White hart lane

1 to get past the first round would be good
2 all of them probably
3 my season has been like the Titanic (sinking) lol

you got to be in it to win it

Time to meet those Corinthian Clowns

1. To have a lucky run and lift the World Cup with a pink curly wig on.

2. I don't think I've got a rival as such these days. It used to be Aston Villains back in the day though.

3. Pretty average season much.... I really need to up my game and concentrate more if I'm honest.

looking to recapture past glories

Up next it's time to meet with Hoarse Whisperers

Can you spare a few moments to answer some questions. It would be great if you could take part

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4
To go further than Engerland

2. Who is your biggest rival
All the usual suspects but I am my worst enemy.
Would like to see someone new win a trophy :-)

3. How has your season gone.
Been poor in FL1 with key injuries and work getting in the way. Beat the Imps in some final or other and still hanging on in Conf 3. Top of the Managers table though !
Found the key to training though so need to concentrate on my tactics which don't tend to change much 🙃

dangerous and in the mix

Aten Warriors next up for a chat

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

would be happy to get past the group stages

2. Who is your biggest rival
i dont have personal rivals
the only rivals i have are the team im currently playing against or need to beat for a placing in a league or tournament

3. How has your season gone.
about normal with a mediocre outcome

a good run is a possibility

Debutant The Pompey Chimes is next to the stage

Can you spare a few moments to answer some questions. It would be great if you could take part

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

Every manager must have an aspiration to win the World Cup 4. However, The Pompey Chimes are aiming to make it to the last 16, so to challenge for a top 2 finish in the group stage is a realistic target for our first appearance in the World Cup 4.

2. Who is your biggest rival

My biggest rival has to be Ryan and his King Kennys Army. Mainly because we joined the game at the same time and entered FL together. Ryan also manages Green Bay Parker’s who are above me in 3-1-1 at th moment. The World Cup 4 is the perfect opportunity to make a statement should we meet in this prestigious competition.

3. How has your season gone.

On reflection I think the team have make good progress with gaining promotion to FL2 today. 3-1-1 is very challenging but we are currently sitting in 5th which is one place higher than last season so I am delighted with how the season has gone. With a focus on training and maybe a few new additions for the future I firmly believe that we can break into the top 4 and perhaps have a good run in some of the Official Leagues and Cups to add some more silverware to our trophy cabinet.

picking up some eye catching wins can he add the World Cup to his recent Server Cup triumph

Let's meet Naval and Military now

1. It's going to be tough to qualify from the group stage but if I can then it would be a huge achievement for my team.

2. For a while my biggest rival was Livermark. Now though i'd have to say Arsenals Invincibles as I play them quite often and Mr Cobra is a great manager and tough to beat :)

3. Haven't done as well in the league as I hoped after a good performance last season. It's been a lot better in FL2 where results have been more consistent and promotion is possible if we continue to play as best we can.

in good form can he exceed his expectations

It's time to meet another debutant BUBBLES joins us

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4
A. learn more about SL from the teams in my group

2. Who is your biggest rival
A. Every One

3. How has your season gone.
A. Slow Just trying to build a strong squad

taking this as a learning experience but is there more to show

Now let's meet The Blurred Crusade

To win the thing. I tell my players there's no point taking part if you're not going to win. Especially as all we ever do is take part. They're on a strict regime of pork pies and Doom Bar, so I can't see any reason for us failing

2. Who is your biggest rival
In the World Cup? Well not sure I'm familiar with any of the teams we're up against. Which means they'll know nothing about us. Although we did have some dodgy bloke hanging around at our last training session. Until I recognised it was our star striker who'd been on the lash for three days. Looked a bit different.

3. How has your season gone.
Season's gone badly. We've managed to stay in the Premier Division for a few seasons now & was expecting to escape a late season relegation battle. But we took our eye off the ball against some of the teams around us, and now we're in the smelly stuff. I've started changing the way I speak. I've been pwonouncing my r's as w's in the hope I sound like a certain manager who is good at escaping the drop. It's having little effect and there have been suggestions I don't know my r's from my elbow, but I think that's a bit below the belt.
It can only get better. Is my motto.

will be looking to save their season, could be dangerous

The Seg joins us now for a chat

1. What are your aspirations for World Cup 4

My main aspiration is to get out of the group, although i'd love to make a deep run into the competition. My team is starting to strengthen now so looking forward to this.

2. Who is your biggest rival

I actually don't really have a rival, but if I had to name a couple of managers it would be BDD and Davy who manage Flashhearts/Madbastid and Winter Milan. Mainly because of the battles in 2-1-1 and FL1.

3. How has your season gone.

Reasonably happy with my season, 2-1-1 is going to go down to the last game of the season between me and Davy, all the majors have been terrible though. FL1 has been ok, started terribly but have steadied the ship and will stay up comfortably.

recent winner of silverware, is there more to come

And finally another one of the favourites Super Imps

Aspirations: To win it of course and bring the trophy back to our long suffering fans and raise the spirit of the nation.

Rivals: The usual suspects Borg, Flashearts, etc.

Mediocre season, too many draws in the league but additions to the squad in the transfer windows mean I'll be back next season 😉

a team steeped in success but with so much to prove is a dangerous competitor
