TCL 133 - Last 16 Results

Menagerie make the Jellybellies all wobbly!
Menagerie   1 - 0    Jellybellies
A late strike 11 mins from time from Al Kahlolic settled this last 16 tie in which before the game was very tough for anyone to pick a winner. Both sides opted for the Use Wings style in Snowy Conditions and Defensive for the first 45mins. After a few tactical switches Kenny the Menagerie gaffer shouted for his side to attack from 60mins onwards and it paid dividend with the winner from Al Kaholic with a massive strike that gave the keeper no chance. The dangerous Menagerie march on to the 1/4's.

Late Late Winner Stuns Exeter in 5 Goal Thriller!

Exeter City F.C.   2 - 3    The REAL Madrid
An 111th min extra time "Random" goal from The REAL Madrid's Emms Roids finally settled this topsy turvy match 3-2 in favour of the away side.
Deliver Miller started the free for all in the 16th min with an amazing lob from an acute angle, somehow Mr Danilo managed to equalise from a corner in the 39th min and sides went in level at HT. Into the 2nd half an a combination of a Pigeon, Gareth Bale and the Exeter Goalkeeper edged the away side back in front. Exeter threw the kitchen sink, the bathroom sink the plumbing the lot and finally got their equaliser in the 84th Min strangely enough also from a corner! But the comeback was not meant to be and we headed into ET and Emma Roids won it with a little side heel from close range.

Orioles sink Hoarse Whisperers
Hoarse Whisperers   0 - 2    Ocean City Orioles
Conference 1 outfit Ocean City Orioles are also into the last 8 after a 2-0 away win at Hoarse Whisperers. After a goalless first half and nothing between the sides it took until the 57th Min to get the games opening goal. Danny Welbeck managed to bamboozle the Hoarse Whisperers defence and keeper when he took a throw in which caught flight with the wind and rain and managed to make its way into the back of the net. After opting to stay attacking from the 45th min, OCO pounced with a Counter Attack and sealed the 2-0 win on 72mins with a Mesut Ozil flick on.

We are no Fools!!
The Flashhearts   1 - 2    Fools United
Some may say this is the shock of the round but Fools United have been quietly going about their business and claimed a massive scalp in the Last 16 knocking out one of the favourites The Flashhearts. To make it even better for the away side they won the game after being 1-0 down in the opening 30mins. A stunning 2nd half fightback saw goals from Geerke Geerkens and the winner 4 mins from time from Hinnerk Hinnerksen, however this result may have been aided by Kenny Loggins getting himself red carded for obstruction late on shortly before the winning goal.  Into the last 8 for the away side!

The road to glory ends for Rathpeacon
Realale Madrid   2 - 0    Rathpeacon
Unfortunately for Eamonn it wasn't a fairy tale ending for Rathpeacon as they were dumped out at the last 16 stage after a 2-0 defeat to the ever present Realale Madrid. The away side held out for the first 40mins but went a goal down when the home side dropped to Defence which allowed ... Christie to score a belter from the halfway line!! Both teams stayed defensive for the 2nd half and apart from a Rathpeacon player faking injury and getting booked for it not much else happened. The home side grabbed the 2nd and decisive goal in the 80th min. The away side will be pleased with their progress in this competition having knocked out Super Imps on their way to the last 16.

The Chimes fall silent as the holders march on!
The Pompey Chimes   0 - 2    Arsenals Invincibles
The 3 time holders Arsenal Invincibles progress into the last 8 after a 2-0 win over Jimbo's - The Pompey Chimes with goals in either half from Thierry Henry.
On a blistering hot day the away side opted for a defensive style at KO where the home side stayed Counter Attack. The opener came from a stunning free kick after Henry himself was hauled down by the chimes centre half. After some heavy pressure from the chimes which the Invincibles did well to cope with the sealing strike came in the 84th Min where Henry again was on target.

King Kennys produce late comeback after Madbastid rue Time Wasters
King Kennys Army   2 - 1    Madbastid United
Uncle Jack and Roby Ben's late strikes capped off a fine comeback for King Kennys Army after they found themselves 1-0 down in the first 30mins of this last 16 tie.
In horrible rainy conditions both teams stuck with Use Wings but it was the away side who took the lead after a great solo effort from Striker Anyside1_9
The home side wasted a hat full of chances for a solid half hour (30-60mins) and still found themselves 1-0 down, but their luck changed in the 82nd min when a dubious free kick was awarded for a "foul" and replays showed there was minimal contact. Uncle Jack duly stepped up and dispatched the resulting free kick. 4 mins later the away side were reduced to 10 men when Midfield Left1_8 received a 2nd yellow card for time wasting (trying to take the game to ET). The game did go to ET but swung in the home sides favour with Roby Ben grabbing the headlines in the 111th min.

FC Town of Luton edged out in hard fought battle
Belgische Verpakkers   1 - 0    FC Town of Luton
Lou Sirr's 70th min strike was the difference in this hard fought battle when he hit a stunner in off the crossbar and the away side couldn't find a way back.
In a even scrappy game which saw 4 yellows, Frank Gore and Goohan Mi-Son 16 clashed in a war of words which found them both end up in Simon Pieman's book.
The away sides journey ends here and the home side march on to the 1/4's

Great write ups, sad to exit today but delighted to make it this far at my first attempt.

Not sure if I'll qualify next season but I've really enjoyed this.
