FL5 SEASON PREVIEW

With the Friendly League about to commence, we here at GullBet365 are taking a look at the FL5.

Right at the bottom rung of the ladder, this is where the journey begins for teams looking to get to the FL1 promised land.

Starting with our favourites and working down, take a look at our team guide and ones to watch:

MELCHESTER ROVERS FC    3/10FAV
Melchester Rovers are our tip for the FL5 crown this season, based on their numerous great results in recent private leagues. We think the Bournemouth based side are well equipped for promotion to FL4, but will need all their experience from competing against the top teams from 5-1-1 to consolidate the top spot.

RCS UTD    5/1
RCS UTD so narrowly avoided relegation from Conference 6-1-1 last season but we think this won't derail their bid for promotion in the FL5. With a talented squad at Ross Clark's disposal, he will need them firing on all cylinders and on a consistent basis too. We think a 2nd place finish should be absolute minimum for the guys in red.

PARK MY SEAGULL    9/1
Our very own Park My Seagull make up 3rd favourite coming in at 9/1. Question marks over the quality and experience of the squad still remain, with the total cost of the Devon side rumoured to be around the 9,000 credit mark. However, manager D Larcs has had previous experience at the top level and will hope he can use some of his ability to make a real go of things in his first season at FL level.

RACING TITANS    10/1 *Ones to watch*
Here at GullBet365 we aim to deliver maximum value and you'd be silly not to take up our odds of 10/1 for Racing Titans to come up trumps. If things can click into place for the Titans there's no reason why they can't challenge for the top, although there has been a couple of previous hammerings in the private leagues which may dent confidence ahead of the FL season.

ENGLAND    10/1
We can't split England or Racing Titans and have entered them together at 10/1. Again, another team that can be dangerous on their day and they will hope they can stay in contention towards the latter stages. A good start is needed, then just who knows after that.

GALATASARAYSK    12/1 *Ones to watch*
Well known on the Mogzilla server, IhsanSaka's side could well be ones to watch this season. They have a good quality well balanced side and will be raring to go. A good start in the Champions Shield earlier will do wonders and we expect them to be in and around the top.

KARIUS TO GLORY    14/1
Karius to Glory will hope there are no Karius-like horror performances if they are going to make a challenge for promotion to FL4. They will be desperate to avenge a 1-0 defeat to Racing Titans in the Server Cup in early July, and will be eager to put that result right when the teams meet again in the next week or two. Shouldn't be far off the leading pack.

SPHINX AFC    14/1
The Oxford based team from Conference 2-1-1 aren't far off the finished article but again like other teams will need the consistency if they want to be at the right end of the table. They've lost every game they've played since the 2nd July and will be hoping for a swift change of fortunes.

TUNNELTIGER    25/1
We have to admit Tunneltiger are a complete unknown but do possess a bit of quality which could hurt teams should they happen to be underestimated. We feel a favourable first set of fixtures may give them much needed confidence and a good start to try and gain the elusive promotion spot.

BUBBLES    75/1
We don't feel Bubbles have enough to challenge for promotion this year and suffered a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Park My Seagull earlier. We struggle to see where the goals will come from, and with a leaky defence we think it could well be an unsuccessful campaign.

With the FL5 Season just under 2 days away, rumours are gathering pace that Ihsan's GALATASARAYSK are struggling to put a team together and face exclusion from the competition after a reported missed entry date of 3pm. This comes to many as a surprise as just a few days earlier they were tipped to make a big impression in their maiden FL campaign.

All eyes are now on reserve entry CREWE ALEXANDRA who are still yet to be confirmed as a replacement. Alina's side, of the 5-1-1, are currently winless in their respective league and head to Liverwood Luddites tonight in search of their first points of the season.

MELCHESTER RISE TO THE TOP AS GULL VENTS ANGER

After 6 games of the new FL5 season MELCHESTER ROVERS FC and WC Sem-Finalists ENGLAND lead the way and are only separated on goal difference. This was in part to a comfortable 3-0 away victory for Melchester over their title rivals, with goals from Bob Latchford and Jamie Vardy doing the damage. It was a minor setback for ENGLAND but they will have reason to remain positive after a 5 game unbeaten run prior to their first defeat of the campaign.

SPHINX AFC currently lie in 3rd place after a solid start, with RCS UTD rising to 4th after smashing BUBBLES 12 to nothing. With BUBBLES rumoured to be on holiday and away from his team, things could go from bad to worse. RACING TITANS will be disappointed with their start despite having a couple of good wins. They suffered a setback today with a 3-1 reverse to fellow mid table side KARIUS TO GLORY.

PARK MY SEAGULL lie 2 from bottom with 6 points, late entrants CREWE ALEXANDRA look like they still haven't got going yet and TUNNELTIGER have had a very poor start losing every game and having a demoralising goal difference of -54.

WE CAUGHT UP WITH A DISAPPOINTED PARK MY SEAGULL MANAGER GULL EARLIER AND HERES WHAT HE HAD TO SAY.........

Gull, Hi, Barry Boneshaker here from the SL, 6 games. 2 wins. 2 from bottom. Not the best start?

Well to be honest, yes. A poor start. I wasn't sure on how my young team would cope with the rigours of FL5 Football and as things stand currently we aren't doing well. We have potential of course, but I think the FL may've come too early for us and I have been back to the drawing board in regards to recruitment.

You must surely be disappointed with PMS v England and Sphinx v PMS games, where firstly you had 100% tactical advantage and secondly you weren't losing tactically once. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to point out that not losing tactically for 180mins you've come away with 0 points!

I'm sick to be honest. We were worthy of atleast a point from 2 games and we've ended up with 0. Our gelling wasn't strong admittedly, but with so much advantage you would think, surely, things could've and should've turned out differently. The SL Gods weren't smiling on us for sure. Well that and the fact we just can't match the quality of other teams.

We've seen you've changed your team name to ........ and hinted at a squad refresh. Can you add anymore on this?

I think I've seen a lot of areas where my team could improve and over the next few weeks I will be stepping up recruitment and adopting a more attacking based team. I've had money pumped in from the owners and make no mistake about it they want Park My Seagull to be a force. It may be I have to write off the private leagues and the FL but somewhere I will have to make sacrifices. I eventually want this team and club capable of sustaining FL3 Football and we aim to get there within a year.

Thanks Gull, always a pleasure.

Thanks Barry.

BUBBLES AND TITANS SECURE PROMOTION AS FL5 SEASON ENTERS FINAL STRAIGHT

SLSPORTSNEWS WERE AT THE PICK OF TODAYS FIXTURES...

BUBBLES   1   v   1   FREMINGTON

This was always going to be a tight game between the divisions two in-form teams, with BUBBLES storming to the summit after an impressive second half of the campaign, and FREMINGTON themselves enjoying a remarkable rise from the bottom two to just one place off the promotion places. Manager Gull, formerly of PARK MY SEAGULL, has assembled a solid squad with FREMINGTON, and has enjoyed recent success with just one defeat in the last 18 league and private competition games. It was perhaps no surprise when FREMINGTON went into the break 1 goal to the good. The 2nd half was another evenly contested affair, with both attacking formations cancelling each other out. BUBBLES midfielder ... AMC..791*** went off with a broken cheekbone 14mins after HT, and fans were beginning to think this wasn't their day as the clock was ticking down. 6mins from time a deserved equaliser came, an 84th strike meant the sides had to share the points. BUBBLES will now start to prepare for FL4 football with FREMINGTON having an outside chance of securing a top 3 finish.

RACING TITANS secured a 7-0 win over TUNNELTIGER and with 34 points can't be caught, so FL4 football is guaranteed for them next season.

Elsewhere SPHINX AFC's 0-1 defeat to MELCHESTER ROVERS FC makes things more interesting at the top, with only 3 points separating 4 clubs in the hunt for that elusive 3rd automatic promotion place.

ENGLAND's 0-2 defeat to KARIUS TO GLORY means their season is effectively now over, with KARIUS TO GLORY keeping their faint hopes alive.

There was a rare moment to smile about as CREWE ALEXANDRA gained a surprising thumping win over RCS UTD, 9 goals to 2.

5,000/1 Leicester City pictured with the Premier League title

75/1 SHOT BUBBLES TAKE FL5 CROWN

With best priced odds of 75/1 for Bubbles to top the FL5 Season, many comparisons were being made to the famous title winning Leicester City side who claimed the Premier League title despite being rank outsiders. Many pundits claimed that BUBBLES were indeed a better side than the price given, but managerial inactivity before the season started and a couple of double-figure thumpings in the private leagues hinted that Skally wasn't taking the FL5 seriously. Needless to say everyone loves a perceived underdog, and BUBBLES will look back at the Poetic Justice served late in the season - a 1-1 draw with FREMINGTON securing promotion for his side and all but ended Gulls late rally. Of course it was Gull's bookmakers who wrote off Skallys side in pre-season.

Joining BUBBLES in the FL4 Season 71 will be RACING TITANS and SPHINX AFC. Both have an impressive squad depth and was no real surprise they ended in the promotion places. Despite a 1-5 setback against FREMINGTON on Thursday 30th, RACING TITANS hit back with three important 1-0 victories against MELCHESTER ROVERS FC, CREWE ALEXANDRA and KARIUS TO GLORY which bolstered their promotion bid. SPHINX AFC were bottom after 2 games but slowly rose through the table, with the proverbial icing on the cake coming with a 15-0 final day thrashing of TUNNELTIGER.

There really wasn't much more to shout about between the middle block of teams in the division, with 4 sides separated by just 4 points. In 4th were FREMINGTON, who were going through a well documented recruitment drive and finished the season strongly narrowly missing promotion. Aside from them, MELCHESTER ROVERS FC, ENGLAND and KARIUS TO GLORY were all capable teams on their day but will look to improve consistency if they are to mount a challenge in FL5 Season 71.

RCS UTD were two from bottom and have been disappointing in 6-1-1 and the FL. There appears to be recent managerial inactivity and question marks remain over the teams involvement for the next campaign. Newcomers CREWE ALEXANDRA never gave up but ultimately didn't have the quality, finishing one from bottom. Whipping boys TUNNELTIGER win the wooden spoon with 18 defeats in 18 games and a goal difference of.....well lets not go there.

With the FL5 now over, attention turns to the FL4 where three teams are certain of relegation and will be plying their trade at the bottom tier of the FL. A warm welcome to DUNDEE UTD, THE NEGATIVE AMIGOS, and of course Olá, bem-vindo to Portuguese outift A SELECAO DAS QUINAS.
