Title: Euros 2021
Post by: shellyboy100 on May 27, 2021, 10:51:22 AM: Got the craving for a big knockout cup, thought Iâ€™d run a 32 team tournament next season to run side by side the Euros.

However, this tournament will have a bit of a twist so itâ€™s different to the usual TCL and TEL we run on here every season.

We will start with 4 groups of 8 with the top 4 qualifying. (Random Groups)
We will then do another 2 groups of 8, this time seeded from the first group stages, so theyâ€™re will be two teams that were 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in each group for the next round.
The top 4 of each group from here will continue into the knockout stages which will also be seeded. 1st playing 4th from the opposite group and 2nd playing 3rd from the opposite group...as long as SL doesnâ€™t random up the draw :)

1 team per person, Iâ€™m looking to get this started in the next week or so, if everything is not filled by next Friday I will be opening this up to second teams.

Just for fun, please pick a country to represent, but please DO NOT change your team names for them, as I donâ€™t want to mess up Decaâ€™s end of season algorithm to calculate Manager of the year.

The team has to be European, and will be referred to in the tournament going forward instead of your actual team name on SL, however put your team name in brackets and Iâ€™ll do the rest.

thanks Shellyboy for pointing out not to change team names in the game, as this will effect the end of season rankings :-)

Post by: deca on May 28, 2021, 10:43:36 AM: I remember quite a few years back where we had a tournament for either the World Cup or Euro's,

where we changed our team names in the game temporarily, by succeeding existing team name with country in Brackets

i.e. "Aston Villains ( Spain )", but causes problems for long existing team names, but abbreviations would solve i.e. "Aston villains (SP)"

Just a suggestion

Iâ€™m up for doing that Deca as long as your sure it wonâ€™t cause you any problems at the end of the season?

I always look forward to your rankings and wouldnâ€™t want to do anything to mess them up...

As long as managers are sensible and use the right name format i.e. "Existing Team Names ( Country )" then it should work fine as is has in the past.

The draw will still be random, if you end up getting both your teams in the same group, you can play it whatever way you like, itâ€™s up to you to get both teams through :)
