Gelling from playing in private leagues
« on: September 18, 2016, 01:23:19 AM »
If there is no gelling benefit gained from private leagues then for most managers it's just not worth entering. And that would mean another reduction in revenue for CG Which might signal the final nail in the coffin?

I think private leagues help gelling in the gap between seasons. If you don't play any games you lose most, if not all  gelling. Play private leagues and the gelling can stay up at 60%. I guess if you play more private leagues then you can rotate your squad and try and keep all of your squad's gelling up. 8)

But if it doesn't help during the normal season, is there enough benfit for those who don't challenge at the top of their divisions or the private leagues?  GG obviously brought it in to get people spending and I'd worry that if private leagues aren't worth the cost, managers might stop bothering. To be honest I usually cover my entry fees over a season but I'm still wondering whether to stop.

I cannot comment positively on in season gelling. I think gelling is designed to take money from you. As it makes you spend more. If you have two teams then do an experiment. One Team plays only friendlies and the other plays friendlies and one private league per day(ish) for the season. If you can see a difference then there is your answer. Or no difference as the case may be.

Where gelling may help is training your whole squad. If your good at it all your players can be 100% fit and 80-100% gelled. Then I think they train up better, ie. the player stats seem to improve quicker.

But there is another point. You play private leagues for fun because the division matches are not enough for you. Take the FL competion. Whether it helps with gelling or not it is important to all Managers who play it as you play other teams from outside your division.

Thinking about it you could also try playing a Team without any friendlies but with one or two private league games  a day. Then you could see what private league gelling really is about. However without the friendly game extra training I think you could be slowing down your Teams growth in Stat's. 8)

Been noticing this for a while now Dave. I'm glad it's not just me. I don't believe the gelling benefit is being added properly.

I also believe that the match engine is now at it's worst state. It seems to be a loose cannon to me throwing up all sorts of shit.

All comes down to one thing, there is nobody watching this game on a daily basis unless something goes drastically wrong making it unplayable.. Like a login problem for example.

Not sure if people know how it works exactly... So for everyones information here goes.

You only get gelling for private league scheduled BEFORE a training (friendly match). So for example:
I had 7 afternoon games today. My players received +40 from the first 4 games scheduled and then Gold league (training game) +10 = +50.
My 2 games scheduled after the Gold league until the Gold league finishes makes them void of gelling benefit.

Unfortunately, i don't believe it is working properly. Not by my calculation anyway. Mind you, I have let myself go on the game abit.

Anyway, hope this helps if anyone else wants to do any calculations.

To be fair to me I've had a very long day but what you've posted makes no sense to me at all.

I could wait until I've had a couple of good sleeps before having another look --- or you could re-explain it in terms that a 10 year old might understand?

Best make that a 7 year old ;-)

Sure, not a problem.

I will do it for your games today.
I am going on the assumption your friendly was scheduled at the beginning of the season.
Schedule list:
1st. The killers friendly (scheduled at the beginning of the season)
2nd. Cork agueros stupid bloody tuesday (scheduled 9th september)
3rd. Angel rrrs ptang yang (scheduled 11th september)
4th. Floriana fc gellington boots (scheduled 15th september)

That is the order your games will play today from the order they first hit your fixture list. And because your friendly was scheduled before any of them private leagues you will only get gelling for your friendly. As soon as your friendlies have finished you should technically get full gelling benefit.

Thats how it should work anyway.

I know you don't usually ask The Borg questions as they are too busy assimilating you. However, how do you know this somewhat complex information regarding gelling? I've never seen or heard this explanation of gelling. According to this information your best to have organised a whole new season's  private leagues  to start after your last friendly for the previous season and have them all kicked off and in progress before you play your first friendly of the new season.  ;) 8)

Lee Roby told me.

You are correct with what you said Ag. I'm not brilliant at explaining but seems like you get what I'm trying to say. :D

Without pointing finger's, and I mean this genuinely, this information should have been made public to all of us when this  version of the game went live. There are countless Manager's who believed joining a private league whenever in the season would help their gelling. Now, 16 team leagues, only last 30 days so you can't keep your gelling going for a 47 day season. By entering three to four sixteen team leagues that have a staggered start from end of season into pre season you could stretch your gelling period. Difficult to co-ordinate I know.

So some idea's to combat the system. Don't arrange all your friendlies at the beginning of the system. Try and leave some spaces here and there to add a friendly later on so a private league arranged mid season could get some gelling. Not sure if it will work. Who Knows? Also we need some every three or seven day private leagues arranged in pre season as this should keep gelling going further into the season. I hope. :) 8)

Hate to throw a spanner in the works but I don't think this is right.

My three private league games today all started after my friendly ladder fixtures were complete. My players gained 30 gelling points today! 😶

There's one of those odd circumstances where the current top teams seem to play huge amounts of private league matches so it would seem they are benefiting from playing --- but then the top teams are more likely than most to finish at the top of those leagues so of course they'll enter as many as possible. And if there is no real gelling benefit all the others would be just throwing their money away (unless you call never or hardly ever winning a PL fun?).

Well I don't think I'm getting any gelling benefit so, unless someone from CG comes on here and clarifies things I might go back to just playing Friendlies and I recommend that to everyone who pays out a lot more on PLs than they recoup.

There's actually another point that's bothered me for some while --- I generally enter a good few PLs in a season and quite a few have almost the same make-up in terms of teams competing. So how I can finish top (or very near it) iin one and then am struggling for any points against the same teams in another (and in a third be dead mid-table). Even when I've had a handful of injuries and/or suspensions it still ends up the same.  Obviously good teams will do better than poor ones but what I'm suggesting is that it doesn't seem to work quite the way it should??

So come on CG --- clarify please. And don't say that finding out is part of the fun --- because I'm not feeling it.
