Prestiged (first time) on COD Blops 3 over the weekend. So now I'm back to basic weapons/equipment, and doing pretty rubbish again (though a lot better than when I first started out - knowing your way around the maps and having access to one of your favourite pieces of equipment makes life a lot easier).
Played Pneuma yesterday. Was okay. Wouldn't have paid more than a quid or so for it, but it entertained me for a while. Lots of easy gamerscore there, too, if that's your bag.
Tried another of the GWGs - "Castlestorm". Kind of a mesh of Angry birds, Worms, and Tower defence. Couldn't really get into it, so doubt I'll play it again.
Similar story with Deer God. Very odd game (though oddly pleasing retro visuals) but the story was too batty for me to put up with, and the objectives and controls are often difficult to fathom. Possibly rewarding if you're willing to invest a day or two, but I'm not. Not when there's loads of other games for free that I'll probably enjoy more.
Still haven't tried (GWG):
How To Survive: Storm Warning Edition
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (played it on the xb360, and wasn't a massive fan, so might skip this one)
Valiant Hearts: The Great War (bought it ages ago, well before it was GWG, but haven't tried it yet)
Knight Squad
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
Still got a few paid for games still unplayed, too.
Halo MCC (played a little of the first game, but not much. Played the first 3 on the xbox 360 way back when...)
Rare Replay (haven't tried any of them yet. Naturally I played a few of them back in the day, but surprisingly few of them)
The Escapists
Life Is Good
Final Fantasy Type 0 HD
I'm sure there's a few others.
Speaking of Final Fantasy, I see FF7 remake is going to be released in instalments. FFS, Squeenix, what are you playing at?!
Looks stunning, though:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3sBZ5Nr4hcStill no news on release dates, and still no news on how long Sony's timed exclusivity is for... :\
Shame they got rid of the turn-based combat - I love turn-based combat - but it was to be expected (and was strongly hinted at six months ago when Tetsuya Nomura said "...we can't have these upgraded, beautiful 3D models of Cloud and Barrett, still lining up in a row, jumping forward to attack an enemy, then jumping back to wait for their next turn. That would be bizarre." His opinion. I personally think I'd prefer that, but I can understand where they're coming from.)
Having recently played much of the original, the story still stands up well, but the visuals (and lack of speech) are incredibly dated now, This, however, looks better than I'd hoped - so I'm still very keen to play it.
For anyone who doesn't remember the original (or, god-forbid, hasn't played it) here's a comparison:
http://www.gamespot.com/videos/final-fantasy-vii-original-vs-remake/2300-6428489/As with many folk, though, I'm not interested in it until it's fully released. Come on, Squeenix - you want time to make sure you do the job well but you've had two decades. How many more years before the remake is complete? I suspect we're talking years, here.
