GOD!!!!!

Have just started playing Doom 3 BFG in VR and it's FUCKING INSANE lol  :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Looks pretty reasonable too because the VR Mod is compatible with the High Res Texture mod.

It now has Touch controller support and various different options. I'm using the floating hands option so that you can see your hands and weapons in the game but there's also an IK option where you can see your whole body but I didn't want the potential of oddly placed limbs breaking immersion.

It really is pretty mental, I've only just started playing it up until things start to go pear-shaped when you enter the airlock and find the scientist and have just fought my way inside the main base again and it's fucking crazy lol :o :o :o ;D

The mod team doing the Half-Life 2 mod are also planning on releasing their mod too, no date set but they have said it's going to be SoonTM. Half Life 2 in VR with Touch controller support is also going to be jaw dropping, even more so than Doom 3 BFG because it's going to look so much better so will have more presence. 8)

All I need now is for Sega to announce at E3 that they're going to release a VR version of Alien Isolation and I'll be a VERY happy bunny indeed!

Might be worth starting a gaming thread in the sundayleague general discussion section. Seems to be the only section people use on here apart from a few of us. I'll get one going and see if there's any interest from the players of sundayleague.

Well that didn't work :(

Might as well carry on here I reckon because nobody has posted in that one.

I put my Mum in Google Earth VR today and she was blown away. I showed her bungalow and she immediately started to nose around her neighbour's gardens lmfao ;D ;D ;D

It really is a stunning piece of software. It's all done with low flying planes and LIDAR. When I checked it 4 or 5 months ago my home town (Broadstairs in Kent) wasn't done and now the whole of the Isle Of Thanet has been sorted out so it's getting regular updates.

My flat and road has been done and so has Turnpike Lane which is cool, no Wood Green yet though.

For areas that haven't been done you just see height maps for hills and stuff and 2D pictures taken from above to show the buildings and stuff.

No Pyramids Of Giza which is disappointing but understandable given the air space in that part of the world. I also tried having a look at North Korea to see if I could see the fat fella but there was no sign of him lol ;D

Google Earth VR is now top of my list of things to show VRgins, it really is outstanding. I reckon in 10 years or so most of the world will be done, assuming that Google don't do their usual and kill it off. It really is impressive.

Downloaded and played through the walking dead 2 in 2 days lol.  Not as good as the first although it felt more open ended.. Especially the end...  Seems I have a penchant for chopping off people's arms though lol.

Went with Kenny at the end and refused to join the camp.. Kennys awesome lol

Arizona Sunshine is a great zombie game, it's not very scary though but can get quite intense when hordes start appearing.

I bought Narcosis last night, it's a VR game that can also be played 'flat' and have only played the first two levels so far and nearly filled my trousers a few times lol :-[ ;D

Has plenty of jump scares, the atmosphere is VERY creepy, tense and stressful thanks to the excellent music, sound effects and the isolation and claustrophobia you feel due to being confined to your diving exoskeleton thingy. It isn't as scary as Dreadhalls so far but is right up there with Monstrum (which I THINK might also be a game that be played in VR or 'flat', but if you go to buy it please check first because I might have that wrong!).

Outlast 2 was released on Steam today I think, no VR support though which is disappointing, particularly since the first game is supposed to be fucking terrifying in VR using VorpX. Won't be long before we see Ralf, the developer of VorpX, sets up a profile for this though I reckon. ;D

And in January next year we'll probably see Resident Evil VII VR being released. Can't wait for that one!!!

Scary games are awesome! 8) ;D 8)

I've realised what it is that makes Narcosis so good. Your diving exoskeleton thingummybob is a bloomin great big heavy thing so your movements are quite slow which adds to the tension. But what REALLY makes it so cool is that it has the 'tank track' controls that the first Resident Evil games had back in the day. All the movement and the turning is done with the left stick and the right stick is completely disabled! You use your head to look around instead.

I'm just over halfway through now and the game is great so far, easily up there with Monstrum in the scares department. So good! 8)

Have decided to have 2 games on the go so I also bought Wilson's Heart the other day too. The puzzles are a bit too easy so far, the gameplay is similar to a point and click job so generally so far it's a case of bring item X to point Y and use it to get past obstacle Z but I'm really digging the art style and art direction of the game so far.

It's a psychological thriller and is entirely black and white so if you think of being inside an episode of a Noir Film/Twilight Zone/Alfred Hitchcock Presents all mixed up together then that pretty much nails it, probably with more of an emphasis on The Twilight Zone.

Can't wait to see how the stories in these two games develop. ;D

I've nearly filled my trousers a few times playing these two games so far lol :-[ :-[ :-[ ;D

Finally caved in and rebought Dead Island - I actually finished it this time.. the game gets a lot weaker in the latter part.. but a lot tougher.  I prefer it to Dying Light - far more action in Dead Island and you don't have to run away from every single zombie.  Haven't bought Riptide yet - but will eventually.

Should be getting Prey tonight - bought it on a whim without reading any reviews - I loved the first game.. and even though this isn't a direct sequel, it should still be quite good - I read a quick review earlier and they described it as a mixture of Bioshock/Dead Space/Dishonoured in space - should be half decent hopefully.

It's taken a while to get used to, but I'm really enjoying prey now,  I started on hard but had to put it back to normal, it's got a bastard learning curve to it.  I don't think I have jumped so many times playing a game before though... Those fucking mimics, can basically transform into any object (including stuff you pick up) and then jump out at you when you're close.. I've fell for it so many times lol.

You should try out Prey harv.. its got a touch of Half Life 2 to it - the mimics are quite similar to the face-huggers but they can mimic any object in the game world and unless you use the psychoscope you can't tell until you get up close and by then its too late!

16hrs in now - no idea how far I'm through the story but I've done like 1 side-mission so far.. so there's plenty to do still even if I am near the end of the story.  It's still making me jump out of my seat and swear a lot - I opened a door last night and a body fell out - wasn't even an enemy but it made me blow off two shotgun rounds and shit my pants lol

Yup, I might give it a go in VorpX at some point.

But I've got way too many games to play at the moment and after a long break of 5 or 6 months I've started work on my models for Nakamura's Fall again.

I changed the name from Pride to Fall to avoid any potential licencing issues because there's a retired MMA fighter called Nakamura who won an MMA competition called Pride.

I've started my corridors again, this time they're fully modular and I've cut the polys right down.

Also got my 88 key roll up piano delivered today too. Think I should have gone for the 61key version though because the thing is fucking HUUUUUUGE lol :o

Have found some good lessons on YouTube so I'll start working through those at some point. It sounds pretty good, I'm quite pleasantly surprised  8)

I'm really loving the bosses in Wilson's Heart. So good. There's been The Fly, some ghosty vampire bat type things and I just beat a bloomin great big Creature From The Black Lagoon type monster. The ghosty vampire bat things were particularly good, got a real sense of presence during that boss fight, same the fishy/Lagoony creature. When you see these sort of bosses on a 2D screen they're really not that threatening but when they're right there, life size and mean and nasty, they can be quite intimidating.

Resident Evil VII is going to be fucking crazy next year, am going to stock up on adult nappies just in case :o ;D
