Star Trek Bridge Crew released on 30th and everyone is raving about it. As a HUUUUGE Star Trek fan I'm VERY tempted to get it but seeing as it's a multiplayer game only I'm going to have to give it a miss unfortunately. I have a big problem communicating with others thanks to my depression so I'm going to have to sit this one out.

The Mage's Tale is releasing for the Rift on the Oculus Store on 20th June, it's an RPG done by, as some of you may have guessed, the same dev team that did Bard's Tale years ago. Have just pre-ordered it from the Oculus Store and got 10% off so it's cost me £26.99. For 10 hours+ content I reckon that's a good deal.

It's now official - the Thargoids are back!!!

Going to have to speed up getting some credits together, not going to want to take on a Thargoid ship with my Cobra Mk  IV lol.

Going to carry on mining for a bit and then get myself a T6 or T7 Transporter I reckon and then do some SERIOUS trading or haulage.

So excited about this now being official, I haven't taken on a Thargoid ship in over 10 years!!! ;D

Just bought Robinson The Journey from the Oculus Store, half price in a Daily Deal in their Summer Sale and it's great so far. A real shame that Crytek are on the verge of going under because even at this early stage of playing this game so far I would LOVE a sequel. The CryEngine has always been the best looking engine out of the lot and in VR it's just plain majestic. Everything looks so real.

The best thing about it is that it has a scanner so in Metroid Prime style I'm scanning everything I can see in the game, shame it's just dinosaurs, mammals and insects though because I would love to be able to scan parts of the ship and plant life too.

I am now officially embarrassed. :-[

I didn't have the guts to scan all of the Raptors lol :-[ :-[ :-[ ;D

They're below you and you're standing on a raised platform with the little fuckers jumping up at you. Did the first couple without a problem but the other two you have to move around so that you can see all of their scan markers, and in doing so they're jumping WAY too close to you to be comfortable. It sounds ridiculous but I've personally got a great sense of presence out of this game despite the lack of motion controls.

I keep on wanting to reach out and pet my baby T-Rex pet that I've acquired lol

It's quite common with games with PBR textures like the majority of Unreal games and all of the CryEngine games so far, as well as the few Unity games where developers have made the effort to have realistic looking graphics rather than 'cartoony' graphics that you see in the majority of Unity games.

Looks like there's going to be a new e-Sport on the horizon that people are going to go crazy for in Echo Arena from the developer Ready At Dawn. Everyone is going crazy over it, could be the 'Rocket League' of VR.

Haven't tried the Open Beta yet because I'm too busy playing Robinson The Journey so far. Fucking raptor nearly made me poo my pants last night too lmfao :-[ ;D ;D ;D

An indie developer on Reddit is 85-90% of the way through a first release of Alien Isolation VR. :o

That is going to be fucking INSANE lol ;D ;D ;D

Woo hoo!!! I've had a little luck and should be getting £595 during the next few days! It's money that has been owed to me for a while ;D

Have just bought myself the Indie Substance Pack from Allegorithmic while it was on sale, down from $299 dollars to $199. Substance Designer, Substance Painter and Bitmap2Material are a suite of three programs that are used for PBR (Physically Based Rendering) game textures. PBR textures are basically realistic looking textures that you see in all of the big games like Assassin's Creed, Dishonored etc. PBR makes textures that behave like real world surfaces that you see every day because they reflect light and absorb light the same way they do in real life.

I've needed to buy it because I'm going to want to submit my VR game to the Oculus Store so need to officially own these things legitimately just in case anyone checks, I've been using pirated versions up until now, and the previous versions too because 2017 hasn't been available.

Next up is Headus UV Layout Pro, but I'm not sure if I can afford to get that yet because I need to use a good bit of that money to pay off some debts.

Getting the Substance stuff and UV Layout Pro should almost cut my development time in half I reckon. ;D

I was originally planning to have this on the Oculus Store before Halloween (seeing as it's going to be a survival horror game) but with my depression severely hampering my progress I'll be lucky to get it done before H2 next year. I'm either going to have it available for free, or if Oculus are up to it, having the all of the proceeds from sales going to Cancer Relief or something. ;D

Just working through Allegorithmic's tutorials on YouTube now which coincidentally is a texture for diamond plate metal with rust which is exactly what I was planning on having on the deck of the NMC Nakamura. Once I've walked through those I think I might try and add some paint onto them too so that I can break the different sections of the ship up. I'm thinking on having crew quarters, high ranking crew quarters, engineering, medical, mining extraction and the bridge section as separate floors with the needing to do certain tasks to progress from floor to floor such as getting combinations and passwords, fixing doors and lifts and cutting off thumbs to open door with thumbprint access :P ;D

Am feeling REALLY good at the moment, the best I've felt for YEARS. Just got to make to make the most of it before I get hit by another wave of depression for a few weeks and do some cooking, housework and work on my game. The way I feel right now I feel like I could go back to work tomorrow but I realistically know that another wave will be coming in a few days and knock me again. Still, I feel good right now. ;D

Just started playing the Alien Isolation VR Mod and it's fantastic so far. It's the first release and has some issues here and there which the dev is working on but he wanted to get something out there for people to play because he originally said he was going to release it last weekend.

The cutscenes are on a screen in front of you, Ripley Jnr's body placement isn't quite right when you look down and the PC terminals are about 2-3 inches away from your face, making them difficult to read if you don't have the right I
IPD setting on your Rift but overall it's fantastic.

Just played the intro and the beginning of the game on the space station, no Xenomorphs anywhere in sight, and I've nearly pooed my pants a few times already with a few jump scares lmfao :o ;D

Games like this (and my game if I ever get it finished!) are what VR was made for! 8)

Oh fuck!!! :o

Just got killed by an Alien for the first time and felt real fucking panic bordering on fear lmfao :o ;D

Just like the bosses in Wilson's Heart and the ships and space stations in Elite Dangerous you really don't understand the scale of these things until you see them in 'real' life. Fuck, this game is going to be INSANE in VR. Those things are bloody HUUUUUUUGE and fucking intimidating when you see them running at you in 90fps. Fuck! :o

I'm convinced that someone is going to have a heart attack playing this game. Luckily, despite my 40 years worth of diabetes my blood pressure, heart and cholesterol are in good shape but someone is going to die playing this game. This isn't exaggeration or hyperbole, this game is SERIOUSLY fucked up in VR.

I'm usually pretty good with scary games and films but even at this early stage of playing this game I feel that I might end up not being able to finish this game. Shit. :o

I've still got cutlery to do and a big fuck off knife so that you can cut off the thumb of the Chief Engineer to get through a door but I think I've got most things sorted out there. Am also going to add some big TV displays in a few of the corridors too I think.

Can you guys think of anything else that you might find on a mining ship in space with all of the crew dead..? Apart from bodies of course, I'm going to be using Mixamo Fuse for those. Any help would be much appreciated! ;D

I'm also going to be doing some big fuck off mining machinery too!

Bollocks, had a bad hypo the other day and managed to break my HOTAS :'(

Just ordered another one, should get delivered on Sunday. I had just started continuing my play through of Elite Dangerous too. I still get a bloody great big smile on my face every time I see the inside of a Coriolis Space Station. I don't think that's EVER going to get old in VR. So good.

Started playing an old 360 game the other day and accidently got myself an achievement with an odd ending - 7 points (which left me on an ending of a 2).  I have to say when the X1 came out, I've noticed far fewer games with weird achievement endings so I instantly knew I'd ballsed up here because I'm pretty OCD about these things.

Anyway I spent fucking ages checking through my games to find an achievement where I could balance it back out to a 5/0 ending and found absolutely nothing!  The only game I could find that I had was Luxor2 which had a bastard achievement with a GS of 17.  Spent a few days trying to get that achievement and ended up doing a semi-cheat method to get it - its pretty rock hard in the later levels.  Anyway, that still left me on an ending of 9 though.. not sure what my thoughts on what to do after this were (short of checking my 300+ games individually).  Anyway, I found a website where I could put in a GS value and it would show me the entire list of games with these weird achievement values...  - I couldn't find anything with 1 or 6 but I found that Dead Island Definitive Edition had a few 16GS achievments which would get me back to a good old zero ending.

So logged into that and instantly popped a fucking 8GS achievement (for playing it 28 days after the first time I played it) - fuck sake - that would of sorted me out in the first place and now its left me on a 7 ending!  Fortunately though, DIDE also has quite a few other 8GS achievements.. just had to connect to someone elses game to pop one.. and I'm back on a 5 ending.. PHEW!!!  ;D

I won't be touching Dead Island again - useful to have a game like that for any other achievement-dicked games that I might play in the future lol.
