FPS Creator Reloaded has now been renamed to GameGuru, and an Early Access version is being released on Steam for $19.99 on 27th February and they're having it 25% off to begin with too. Works out as £9.68 at the current currency conversion.
When it's first released on Steam, because the software is still being developed, the online multiplayer is using the Steam online infrastructure but at this early stage of development you can only host and join games if you actually own GameGuru. That's probably going to change sometime before the end of the year hopefully.
They've renamed it because they have plans for the not too distant future for it to be used to make not just FPS games but any genre of game that uses a 3D game engine, so things like TPS games, RPG games, driving games etc. Here are the system requirements:
Minimum:
OS: XP, Vista, 7, 8
Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2GHz or AMD Dual-Core 2GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 400 series or AMD Radeon HD 6000 series, 1GB Video Card (Minimum Shader Model 2.0)
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 4 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers
Recommended:
OS: XP, Vista, 7, 8 - (64 Bit)
Processor: Intel Quad-Core (i5 2300) or AMD Octo-Core (FX 8150)
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 660Ti or greater, AMD Radeon HD 7950 or greater, 2GB Video Card (Minimum Shader Model 2.0)
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers
Because I gave them 40-odd quid to help fund development a while back I'm a Gold Pledger and will have 4 serials to give away so that you can all have a mess around with it. Here's a few YouTube videos and a Facebook page so that you can see what people have been doing with it so far:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UglkGZtwJXUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfTjwnC6DEIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oWZlPx83Cghttps://www.facebook.com/antinomy1The first two YouTube videos have been done by some VERY talented people using their own models etc. The third YouTube video I think has been done entirely with models you get included with the software. If you're artistic/adventurous you can create 3D models in something like Maya/3DS Max/Milkshape/SketchUp/Blender and use them for your games. There's also a shop where you can sell or buy stuff too, both from the developers and from members of the forum.
The current multiplayer situation is a pain in the bum but this is an Early Access version, the software is still being developed so they have plans to sort that out.
Let me know if you want any serial numbers, I have 4 of them! Might be handy for those of you who have kids that are interested in getting into the industry I reckon.
