No disrespect to DonkaLonk, I realise the match engine throws up some beauts and I know that during the game I had less advantage but come on, how did I lose this one!?

in the extra time it's a random goal, either of teams could have won   8)
you weren't lucky enough  ;)

So in extra time boots, aggression and t.a all go out the window? Didn't realise that. As you said, nae luck!

I totally agree with you mate I actually forgot to log in and set up today as I was too busy betting on horses. The only thing I deserved out of that was a good beating, sorry mate you deserved to win.

oops !  didn't notice he had the wrong boots, he played passing in longball condition, had a lower agression ....

yeah mate, it's weird ... you should have won, given that your players are stronger than his.

Pass me the hankie mate. I know I've been gone for a few years and probably don't have the best team stats, as it's a free credits built team, but not sure how I lost my CS game last night. My opponent was playing the wrong style, had the wrong boots and was playing a lower aggression. I lost on tactics but surely the game engine should punish those errors more than my lack of tactical genius.  ???

Stuart, the only explanation is that usually the match engine favours teams with better stats.

I want to give another example of how weird the match engine is (also against  DonkaLonk):

http://smokey.sundayleague.com/cgi-bin/sundayleague/match.pl?fixtureid=8059929

I should at least scored once while I had tactical advantage for 45 minutes. In the other game of the season against the Donks I scored after 4 minutes of tactical advantage. The only explanation is that I had a regular player awol and one injured that affected my team gelling and his team has easily better stats.

But it's weird because I managed to score against and beat Super Imps last night (perhaps the team with strongest stats at the moment)

Haha has everybody got it in for me at the minute? I've always thought the match engine favours the higher placed team in matches too, don't know if that's right but I've always seemed to find that.

Definitely a possibility that the match engine usually favours the higher ranked team (though that can work both ways for some teams?). What gets me is when a team in the bottom four that has hardly bothered all season suddenly wakes up and beats the top of the table team  (me). Perfectly worked out tactics too. Unlike their earlier matches with rare AT changes or just very bad ones. Every likelihood it'll be back to sleep again for them until they next play one of the top teams in the league (though maybe not all the top teams). Can't say I'm bitter, I might have done a bit better, it's just a shame, IMO, when such things happen.

I confronted myself with that kind of situation in the past. the worse part is when they play nutter/psycho and you get some longterm injuries in exchange.
I suppose those teams belong to managers that have another team (higher rank) in the same conference. Undercover managers.
They just wait and take profit of the opportunity. My advice is to pay attention in the future and always foresee a backup plan in the advance tactics.
it's a shame, it's not fair play ... Good luck Angele ! you had an magnificent season so far!

Kind words are always welcome :-)  As for the advice, I had a "feeling" from looking at that team's previous results (clues if you will) but all my AT changes were countered (and that either takes blind luck or a fair bit of skill and experience). One of the worst things is that I can no longer have any respect for any of the managers in the top five of C3. All I can do is make sure I make a real effort (something I've not always been able to do) and make the cheat's efforts pointless.

You're in C8, so you mean me or one of the other 3 in the top 5 then....... Nice.

No. Definitely NOT nice.

But put yourself in my position. And maybe have a look back through Expected Toulouse's earlier results.

Maybe ET's manager might like to come on here and explain the teams unpredictable (or should that be predictable?) performances?
