Personally I believe the getting rid of the training element is the best idea. What is the point of it anyway?? That's what friendlies are for. However, no chance of this happening.

I'm all forward fairness and expanding to help move the game to the next level. The main SL game

What I like about the original Gold League is how quick fire it is we can get 4 in a season easily but I made the poll so everybody who logins to this forum can have their vote and not worry about saying anything. All that have voted can see the current result. It is great to see people also firing out ideas.
Personally I like the idea of a 2nd Gold League which can be manipulated so it starts on a certain date with 16 spots  available so it covers over the pre season period. And then potentially a 3rd if that fills... They can start each season on that certain date. There going to be nearly a whole season long. 30 games. So it will be very easy to manipulate to start them when you want them without hassle of messing up the current popular 8 team Gold League... This is open to discussion....

The Cider League isn't the issue. It is limited in it's benefit as it's only played every 3 days. It fills alot slower. Sometimes even struggles to fill.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend this if your trying to get training benefit out of it. You'd have been better off waiting for the next Gold League (in 5 days) which as it stands will be expanded to 16 teams so you could get 30days worth of extra training for 500cr. That would also see you to the pre season for the next season.

I'm looking into the whole situation and the possibility of upping the current Gold League in the meantime then over the end of the season expanding the Gold League product into more leagues so as many players can benefit as possible. This will give more spaces for trophy hunting managers and the ones who are after the training.

It's trial and error to see how far the interest goes. Mid season and end of season

You have to ask yourself, how many active Managers are there. A 16 team gold league will not satisfy the demand for training benefits. Even if you have three of them that still might not satisfy demand. I also mean 3 gold leagues kicking off side by side, like the FL leagues. Also if you have 2-3 leagues they need to be organised and pass worded so Managers cannot put multiple teams in.  ;) 8)

Absolutely not. These leagues won't be password protected. The idea is to enhance competition not shut it off. I think you think this game is bigger than it is Ag. There is just under 600 managers signed up to the game(593) which I would say 100 play the game daily and 50 that have any interest in playing a day game and a night game. The interest won't be as big as you think but I will make sure I make sure I accomodate as many people as possible. Like I say it's trial and error. We will take it as it comes.
Multiple teams won't be accepted in the same league as thats not aloud (hint). It is something that I'm looking for juniors backing in to attempt to crack down on this season as it is ruining the integrity of our small but addictive game.
However, not everyone is after training benefit. Some people like myself pay top dollar for credits(like everyone else) and want to win anything and everything.

If the interest in the Cider League is low. Perhaps we could turn it into a 16 team every day league also? I've entered my 2nd team in the Cider league purely for training as I'm waiting to put my other team in the Gold league (if i get a place lol).

Member = 48/76
Non member = 28/76

Friendlies = 42/76
Accepting only = 21/76
No friendlies = 13/76

I know you can't just go by this as not everybody is involved in the FL but thanks to Steven doing such a great job the FL has the vast majority of the active managers within the game. 48/76 managers have brought credits within the last year. As you can see from the friendly stat it is fairly even.
Expanding the Gold League which I AM willing to do won't benefit as many as you think. A small handfull plus managers with multiple teams which I'm okay with providing they abide by the rules. Unfortunately, and I do mean this as I love the game, it just isn't populated enough by the competitive spending manager. Hey, I play Hoarse Whisperers every other day  ;D ;D I don't know about him but I'm sick to death of them whisperers.

We need to be careful we don't make a rod for our own back here and end up costing the game more than its worth.

There's lots of information to digest. But password protecting leagues does not alter the competition. Managers still try and win. I think your driving the game down a blind alley. Its seems that it will be easier not to play friendlies but just to play official leagues for a teams training needs.

I'd also like you to explain your "hint" over multiple teams by one Manager in the same league. I can see you not wanting two teams in a competitive league as it may effect the outcome. But I see no problem in me running eight team leagues filled with my teams as it allows me to give the teams a run out. These leagues effect no other Managers.

As for integrity, I can see what you mean having secret teams, in competitive divisions, private leagues etc but I believe my private league games do not effect the integrity of the game. If you do can you please explain your opinion. 8)

Quick question for anyone who knows..

Can I arrange friendlies between two of my teams as long as it's not for points?

I don't mind if I can't it would just make it easier to fill my friendlies for the season.

Cheers

As you said your not trying to win anything. So, why not? To me your just giving your teams a run out 8)

Having thought about it and had a good read through all of Borg's post, I actually think it makes sense to run the league as an 8 team league. Part of the reason the league runs so often is the speed that it fills up, it's first come first served anyway so everyone has the same chance to join the league.

Maybe it's an idea to run a 16 team league on a trial/error fashion.

I do believe this is aloud. I think the system stops you after a certain amount. Not 100% on that though.

There's a difference between a run out and gaining over the pre season through gelling. Pot kettle springs to mind. Don't worry Ag. I will PM it to you later and break it all down for you. That is not a problem.

Back on this subject, and I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. There is a way of killing the training benefit actually. Quite simply. Keep the name but make the system believe it is no longer official, which is possible. Keep the Gold Cup. It is just a standard official league then with no training.

Terrible idea!  :(

You would then need to do that for all official cups which makes them less special.

In my view, the only "special" competitions are the ones where you have to prove yourself over a distance against various challengers, so the major cups, Conference titles and most 16 team lunchtime leagues count. And any 8 team league played at lunchtime (which might be run 3 or 4 times a season) is more just a kick-about among friends.

I believe the limit  it's no more than 4 friendly games between same teams
