Hi 3-1-1!
I thought 3-1-1 managers decided not to use Psycho in league games.  Has that been changed?  I’ve been sticking to it and it cost me a win and now have an injured essential player. I’ll play Psycho too if that’s where we are now. I definitely will play it next match against anyone who played it against me in any case.
What are your thoughts?
Regards,
Lucy

Ouch, 8 weeks with a broken cheekbone.

The whole thing with pyscho is strange. It's obviously part of the game but I suppose that there's a n unwritten rule that we dont play it in league games. Of course if some people use it, then we all will.

For me, I dont mind either way. if everyone wants to use pyscho as a tactic, then I would too. If everyone agrees not to use it, then I will follow too. Interested to hear people's views.

My opinion is that psycho is one of the things that should be taken out of the game.  At least two of my teams have had the opposition playing psycho for the whole ninety minutes this season with the expected long term injuries to my players.  I have never played psycho and never will.  :) 8) :)

I only use psycho (sometimes) at times when the referee allocated to a specific match is normally a Nutter playing referee. I don't use psycho for the full 90mins but it is sometimes part of my advanced tactics and strategy. I don't see a reason to why one can't do that and I have seen a few match reports where other managers do the same. I believe and with my experience in the game and depending on match conditions, this can sometimes have a positive impact. For this I will continue to do this so long that the ref allocated is a Nutter playing referee such as Wilmot Piddlethwaite.

Obviously if you play psycho for a full 90 on a pansy/normal referee on a regular basis that is a different case as I assume your intentionally trying to injure your opponent.

Lucy, I remember just taking over this team and playing you in last seasons EC 1st round where you played psycho on me with Terrance as the ref. You gave me like 6 injuries with 4 of them being long term. I did assume though you made a honest mistake when setting up tactics so I just forgot about it.

Thanks for your point of view. I'm sure I could have played Psycho in an EC match but with that Ref it wouldn’t have been intentional. Sorry this happened. My question is specifically about the unwritten rule I was told we were following during the regular games. Apparently it no longer applies and feelings are mixed now. I’m glad I asked.🙂

OK, this has to be aimed at me, so ...........

I was one of the first to complain about Psycho and ask for it's removal (or at least an unwritten rule not to use it).  I haven't changed that view.

If and that is a ridiculous if (because it wouldn't happen), no way would I switch at HT because I've seen that back fire against managers who have done it to me.  In the old says I might have used it on 75 (but that was way back).

I happily admit I am not top-level competitive at the moment and am developing a new team. I'm already too far behind to harbour any thoughts of finishing in the top three. And using Psycho gets players sent off and missing training time so I would have had nothing to gain (and some possible loss) by ever using Psycho.

Lucy is one of my oldest "friendly enemies" on SL and while, in darker moments I can think of one or two I'd like to go Psycho on, you dear lady, are definitely not one of them. Ever.

I have already complained about the ending of last season and won't revisit it but I have never been so angry (and sad)  and came  >:( :-[ >:( :-[ >:(  close to just walking away. And now this.

So, hand on heart, I will say here that I didn't set up to use Psycho (at any time in the match). DID NOT.  Sober, wide awake, mentally stable (or close to it)  and actually still in the game at 0-0.

What else can I say? I have no way of proving anything but something is very wrong with SL just now --- ridiculous results and (seemingly) crazy happenings. Anything else and I will consider walking away (or screaming the place down until someone finds something) because having to treble check everything for every match just makes it not worth it.

And, Lucy, when we play again I'll happily gift you a win (even if --- and that's by a ridiculously massive stretch of the imagination for my lot --- we are level at the top) and I feel like saying sorry even though I did nothing wrong, either deliberately or by accident.

Just gutted    :-[ :-[ :-[

Dave.

I realise this thread is a conference 3 thread and you guys are free to agree whatever you like amongst yourselves.  But we do play each other in other competitions  and just to be clear i think its worth saying that I  currently play my league games in conference 1 and I've played in conference t 4 before that.  Plenty of really good managers ( and it does tend  to be the best ones)  have used psycho against me to good effect and i also now use it when i feel it will me me an advantage in the game. With some refs it does appear to be the best  level of aggression for does of the game at least. Its part of the game for me.

I'd also say that he recommended agression levels on the "guide to tactics"  are not perfect so beware,    Also,  choosing the best aggression seems to play a very important part in results ( up there with the attacking, counter, defensive casino)  so if you do not use it in cos 3 you are not playing the whole game .

The problem with having an unwritten rule is that it can't be enforced and might lead to upset.

Sorry to intrude.  Just my thoughts.

I agree with everything 3 Eyed Raven has said especially the part "With some refs it does appear to be the best level of aggression...." At the end of the day, the psycho option is available to be used so you wont be able to stop anybody from using it. If there is any agreement with fellow managers to not use it in private leagues, divisions or whatever then fair enough but I for one can not agree with this as I feel playing psycho at certain times during a match (depending on referee and match conditions) has it's advantages. When I play like this, I am by no means looking to intentionally get my opponents players injured but that is simply the nature of the game and injuries can occur at any aggression given.

By looking at the match result for Lucy against Dave; Lucy, you got a player injured in each half but the player with the longer term injury happened during the first half when dave had nutter aggression. You could have had an injured player also in the second half if dave was still on nutter ... That's just the luck of the game and unfortunately one can be unlucky with injuries every now and then. It is easy to notice though that with nutter referees, you are much likely to sustain less injuries with opponent playing psycho compared to a pansy/normal referee playing psycho.

Many thanks to those who gave me their opinions.  Extra points for those who understood I was looking for a simple answer. (It’s a relief to find not all of you thought I was born yesterday.) That being said, as always, I respect all of you. Also I always have forgiven Dave. 🙂

As always (and you may take comfort in the fact that you are far from being the only female --- in SL and Life --- to do so --- happily for me  ;)) your forgiveness is happily accepted. But in this case I still am still totally convinced I did nothing wrong --- not deliberately and not by accident. Maybe we need VAR. Or an improvement to the game where any ridiculous happening can be appealed against and investigated (rather than being fobbed off with "It's all part of the fun of the game"  >:().

And if other conferences wish to accept Psycho as part of the game then that's their business. I would very much prefer C3 continues to avoid it in internal competition (I think C3 teams have done well enough recently to show it's not necessary) however, knowing where we stand will certainly allow me to use the tactic if/when I am an underdog in any competition where conferences all meet.

Great to have bluestar included.

The cup is free to enter and games will be played every 3 days so it will end before the league season.
