Rivals/Bogeyteams
« on: April 27, 2021, 05:08:18 PM »
Thought it would be fun if everyone could mention there biggest rivals in the game and there bogeyteams.

I’ll go first:

Rival: Easy for me, it’s Nish and his Red Star Knights. Love the banter on the forums and the mind games, wish there was more of it in the game.
Bogey team: Any team managed by Sem, can’t remember the last time I beat him. Sem’s a step up on me on developing players too IMO so I can’t even rely on my team strength either, haha. But I always want to avoid him in a knockout cup.

what an innovative and fun post! happy to try

RIVAL: i have 8 teams, but only 1 team has been consistently in one division and that’s my Red Star in 6-1-1 so they’re the benchmark. In that vein it’s head and shoulders South Shields and his crew. I have lost a lot to him of late, but i go into every game on a buzz and confident i can get the W and that’s a pretty fair go for a rivalry IMO. The banter is so fun, and i think we’ve managed to triple the number of forum pages for C6 😂 honourable mention to Kush, he has taken the title off my Green (x2) and Blue (x2) teams a total of 4 times, on the last day.

BOGEY: South Shields again, i haven’t lost a lot of games in C6 (overall) and i think his lot have a superior head to head. and the cheeky fellow refuses to take a holiday! 😂 honourable mention to Sandford (c3) and CSKA (c5) who, no matter the league standing, will always put up a fight and sneak the win more times than not.

RIVAL - Currently any of the other members of the ‘Big 4’ in C3, I guess.

BOGEY - Went through a spell where I seemed to draw Martin and his Luton boys in everything and lost to them most times too, but the team I can’t ever get near is Letsbe Avinya. I can’t even get within one goal of them!

Hihi :)
I'm also always very suprised by the amount of wins I take against your team. As I feel like your team is top 5 in SL.
Hopefully this post won't jinx it and I can keep winning when it starts to matter in a big game.

Both teams:
Rival : Both my teams are too new and only competitive on the top stage for a few seasons, not enough to have a real rival.

Bogey : It felt like 80% of the times in the big cups i got knocked out by the Jellybellies. I drawed them so much on my few seasons yet, and lost the
big majority of them. (this season i knocked him out in the EC, so i hope this is a turnaround, but it probably is just a rare win for me, and I will lose all the games next 5 seasons again)

Pilsners of Belgium
Bogey : Chambly FC and United Cats.
Suprisingly my team takes a decent amount of points against the top teams like Super Imps, Purple Gelato and Fulhams Finest, i rarely take 1 point, let alone 3 against these 2 mentioned.

FC Schwalbe
Bogey : The Borg & Beeky Blinders
Against most top C5 teams I have on average equal wins and losses or draws, but I can't think of 1 victory against the Borg. Even when he is not 'interessed' I still can't get a result against his squad. Hopefully when my win comes, I don't waste it when I'm fighting for place 5, but for place 1 :)

Beeky Blinders and my Schwalbe team seem to join alot of the same private leagues. And not only is he very competitive in these and beating me for 1st/2nd places, I hardly can get a good result against him in our games. I think he took +3000 credits in rewards away from me in the last few seasons.

Top 5? Wow, I’m flattered, really. I wish my history page reflected a top 5 manager 😂.
I really don’t have an answer for why you keep beating me. Half the time if it’s in a PL I’m happy to take a point. What are your team ratings? I imagine with your training regime they have to be close to the 800’s?

You still running all 8 teams Nish? I see Rebel Star are still set as holiday, but they are hitting there peak right now.

If it’s any consolation Nish, I’m not going anywhere but my team is due a rebuild next season...might be the reason why I’m trying to get in your head so I can get one up on you before I have a severely weakened squad 😂.

We are quite new and only in our second full season
Too early to call a bogey team but I'd consider spiteri and Floriana a rival as we have both been promoted to C4 at the same time.

Winning FL1 makes me rate a team very high.

Pilsners of Belgium - sweeper - 782 strenght
FC schwalbe - 3-4-3 - 768 strenght ( this team can play almost any normal formation, but i think my rating is highest in 3-4-3 because more midfielders, 4-5-1 might be a higher rating, but don't think its better for me.)

I'm really happy with both teams, haven't bought a single player for more then 500CR. Sweeper formation gives me alot of young top players cheap because they have so many unused positions. The formation itself is average i feel like. Not even sure what wheater condition is good for it.

On schwalbe I'm trying to buy 10 season players only and train them for a few seasons. But i made a schedule for when i need to replace certain players so my team will always average 770-790 in 3-4-3. Still need 2 seasons to be on my strongest form on this team.

There strong teams, especially Pilsners Of Belgium, I’d expect a title charge from them this season in 1-1-1.

Outstanding return on the price you bought them players too. I like your 10 season idea, you’re always going to be up there once you’ve gone through a rebuild or two based on that.

I've been trying to do something similar, I THINK that I am now in a position where I will have one or two players every season that will hit the decline stage, but I should always have a 3 or 4 season minimum replacement to come into the team, transfer in a new season 1 player and then by the time the replacement needs replacing, I have another replacement lined up haha! Should mean my team strength should be consistent moving forwards albeit some minor dips in team strength, but not enough to totally rule out being competitive.

Took a lot of patience, a whole year really to get into that position, I'm actually ahead of schedule, I had next season as the season where the team would be competitive on all fronts, but last season went well and so far so good this time round.

Rival
Not sure if I really have a rival. I have never really been in contention to win 3-1-1, I finished a distant 2nd to Hoarse Whisperers once ever. Hoarse and Wizards tend to beat me all the time in 3-1-1 and sometimes in the other competitions.
Maybe Brian's CSI teams but I wouldnt call them rivals. I am normally around the same position as Brian's CSI Ramsgate in 3-1-1 and close to CSI-Westgate in FL2. I always say that if I am ahead of the CSI in any competition, then I am doing ok.

Bogey
for the last 3 or 4 seasons in 3-1-1 and FL2, I have struggled to beat Saiyan Warriors. I must have lost more than 10 of our last 15 games.  No idea why, I have changed tactics so many times but he seems to read my mind and out think me almost every time.

Dunno where you get the time for 8. 2 is enough for me and I only spend 15 minutes a day on tactics, Max.

Green Star is due a rebuild...every thought of bringing them to conference 6?  ;)

that’s quite ok, as long as you lose 3 other games at a minimum. shall we agree the terms?
