Refs and pitch conditions
« on: May 13, 2022, 11:51:58 AM »
Do different refs have a different impact with pitch conditions?
For example if it’s normal pitch condition i would usually go with moulded boots,
I have noticed some would use blades.
Using last nights game I had as an example Michael mclintock was the ref…
And it seems that using bladed boots had the advantage as we shared 45mins worth of tactical advantage each so should have been a draw but I lost 1-0.
Even though I do get frustrated with how the results come in on this game I’m still interested to see what’s people feel works best.
I also lost to the Imps a couple of days ago 1-0 when I feel I deserved more with a 36 minute tactical advantage.

I was wondering the same. Was hoping someone would shed some light on this. Also do certain styles favour certain refs.

Sorry guys but I highly doubt someone is going to share the advantages, you have to find them out for yourself :)

There are lots of tactical disadvantages and advantages in this game as you play more and get more experience, you will find them out.

And yes certain styles favour certain refs.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping there would be decent people out there like myself that are willing to help each other out.

If I was one of the top teams I would want to help everyone out so the competition is as high as possible.

You have to think about it in a tactical approach, I wouldn't expect someone to give out all the advantages they know to their opponents, it doesn't make sense. If we were both classmates and I did your coursework for you and you got a higher grade then me, I'd be happy for you ofcourse as a friend but I would also be like wtf that doesn't make sense and the same principle can be applied here.
I had to find out many things myself and once you see 1000s of match reports, your eye starts catching things you would have not noticed before. Making a spreadsheet can also help bigtime but that is a long process.

It's not about people being decent or not, most managers will probably not like to share their knowledge and I wouldn't blame them at all. Your post was created yesterday and has been viewed over 48 times yet nobody has replied back.

You need to look at other things in your match report and not just the difference in boots. Mclinktok was referee meaning and as his bio says, he is a sucker for the underdog.... that could mean a bunch of different things such as favouring an away team or the weaker side. Moreover, I am not sure if you put offside on or off, that needs to be taken into account as your 2 defenders in your 2-5-3 have different pace levels and it could have affected your performance. I have had successful results in both situations offsides yes and no with Mclinktok, and my decision depends on conditions of the match and team strength of my opponent.

As for certain styles favouring refs that is true and if you want an example of this, I'll tell you that Terrence Frisk favours continental play  8), you can find out the rest now :)

I've come to learn that if you want to be at the very top you have to build and train a very strong team... that is the number one thing, ignore all these ref impacts etc and keep it simple, train a team to 800+ and you will see the difference. Match engine can be a shambles at times but it is what it is.

Hope that helps.

Kush that all makes complete sense. I don’t necessarily want everyone’s complete knowledge all I wanted was to know how far the game has come along since I played it in 2003-2004. It was a lot more basic back then, I’m currently trying to get my head around the game a bit more that’s all. When I returned to the game I thought the game system was still the same so I was getting so frustrated with some of the results I was given.
Anyway much appreciated Kush.

Game is still rather relatively basic in my opinion and that's what is great about SL as normally management type of games can be very complexed but it's just a shame this game has not been updated in God knows how long.

If your struggling to score in matches, perhaps use a training regime to focus on shooting or if your leaking in way to many goals, focus on defence. Look at the overall stats of your top 11 in the training page and see where improvement is needed. You can even try to correlate it with your match report, so like if you have an average amount of shots per game lets say 14 and your not scoring, then surely you need to improve attacking skills such as shooting.

The advantages/disadvantages/ traits of refs/pitch/style of course helps but main focus is to build a very strong team and then these advantages/disadvantages become less significant. You have teams winning leagues and competitions with formations you would not expect and that is most likely due to the strength of their players. That is just a prime example there that shows how important team strength is.
