With the start of the new season and with all managers hoping for the best I thought it was an ideal opportunity to see how many active managers we have. Logging on regularly (don't call me sad) I noted the usernames that were online for the past 36hours (take off 7 hours sleeping).

I'm sure you are all eagerly anticipating my findings. I can tell you that there were 173 different usernames logged on in this time period.

Just bought credits at 6:30 am.  They were added by 6:32 am  . Instant!

Seems to be a huge improvement.   :)

Big shame on Casadians in C5. His team had been on holiday mode for a while. He had a decent history page.

Surely now we can get a few teams signed up for the Official Cups?

Only 5 more teams required to restart the Beer Cup

However there's still plenty of room in the Official World Cup and the Official Super Cup!!!

Come on guys!!!

I know it should be attractive but pay for entry and maybe get just a couple of matches and then still be at the mercy of the vaguaries of the match engine in those games? They're competitions that are not really going to be massively attractive for many of the "below top level" managers and those (a lot?) on very limited budgets is it? Just saying.  8)

i actually think the knockout format suits a lot of teams who aren't as "elitist". With the correct tactics going into extra time its usually a toss-up. On my return last year i made it to the Official Super Cup final and was beaten by Borg but my whole team were season 1ers.

Usually one team from a lower division get a decent run in one of the cup competitions (sometimes a couple)every season but when was the last time a team from outside the top 32 in the managers' table actually won a big cup (day or night)?  And even if it has happened once (or a couple of times) the cups don't provide the sort of gelling benefits Leagues do and with entry costing the same as a new player, I'm suggesting some financially less-committed managers might be put off.

Maybe lower league teams could pay less for entry? Or nothing?

I was looking at the old Blog-spot page trying to find the Ravens Nest Roll of Honour (im sure its there somewhere) and found this little nugget of nostalgia...

This is all for conference 1 (obviously)

Jon won his first Conf 1 title in season 72 and defended it well in 73. Well known South Shields won it then in 74. Winter BLOODY Milan won it next and it took me until season 77 to win my first conference! Then at season 80 Rich's Super Imps came along and cleaned up lol

Season 72 DonkaLonk Fc - jt21
Season 73 DonkaLonk Fc - jt21
Season 74 South Shields - shellyboy100
Season 75 Winter Milan - Davy
Season 76 The Jakes - jkb20022
Season 77 Hollowlegs - Crazyfingers
Season 78 Heroes of the Man - sharald
Season 79 The Rods - Unz7
Season 80 Super Imps - richff

Anyone interested in reading it can be found here:

Been chatting with Chico of late about trying to get hold of his blog and continuing it. Unfortunatly he can't access the blog anymore. However, I have started a new one with current goings on. It is a work in progress.. to be honest I have no knowledge of how to do a blog but here you go.
